I’m more concerned about how the youngest girl is always the toppest tier.

HD Remake! NAAAAAAAAAWWWW!!!
Skullgirls characters are milked stereotypes, just presented with a wink in the eye. A not-so-subtle parody.
Whether the game succeeds in actually accomplishing the parody is up to interpretation.
You want non-“weeaboo” homebrew fighting? You could always play Time Slaughter.

Yeah it’s easy to post the worst examples you know, but that’s not the point.
Indie games are often made by fans. Fans are not always known for their creativity.
For every dude who sits down to write a good story or make a good game there are millions of other people who just parrot the shit they like and write bad fan fiction. This isn’t all that surprising.

They can choose an original franchise at least, look at Fighting is Magic for example
3rd strike (chun) and mvc2 (storm) says hi
Sure, but most top tiers are gonna be male characters, and that goes for most games.
Dem Arcana Heart top tiers
That’s not “original”, they didn’t make MLP. Also they’re just pandering to a stupid internet trend, as well as trying to make it play like MVC3. Doujin games at least have original mechanics.

I dont mean they make MLP, I mean making a fighting game with ponies is original and for example the other day I said a kickstarted project about a fighting game with Kaijus (Godzilla and others) and how the hell nobody did a mech fighting game?, Yeah I know Tech Romancer and Virtual On by Capcom & Sega but we need more of these or Space theme games like Plasma Sword and no the same schoolgirls, maids with superdeformed bodies and cute faces over and over and over.
Rareware made a game where you can see a dinosaur, a killer robot, an alien and a werewolf fighting and none of them was out of place and they fit perfectly in their world.
Advice for fighting game developers, hire a good artist or think in a good idea.
Original mechanics like air dashing, super jumping, air combos, and bursting. So original.
“These fan-made things suck!”
“They only made it because they like the source material.”
“Well they should like more original things before being fans and making stuff about it!”
Did that just happen in this thread?
Even though the game is not from an original property, uses unoriginal moves for its characters, and has unoriginal mechanics, it’s original simply because the characters are horses?.. yeah, okay, whatever.
I think my game is pretty original.
Well he wanted to know why a lot of fan-made stuff is uninspired. And uhh…yeah. Not much to say there.

I thought about making a fighter that only uses one button, then I realized no one would take it seriously cause it doesn’t have multiple buttons like every other fighter.
MLP is Marvel-influenced, intends to be completely adorable, superdeformed, and has every character easily categorized.
Seriously, the only thing that makes it different IS that they’re ponies. Also…
Popularity for the unusual is unusual in itself.
I knew about 30+ indie projects that were doing stuff like all characters are gunners, beastmen, Western cartoon themed original characters, and a Third-Reich esque conflict. Metal Gun III, MONSTER, Battle Capacity, and Akatsuki Blitzkampf respectively. However, stuff like that pretty much died, and only the safer made themes prevailed since in the end, you can’t wish for what you won’t buy regardless.
Even then, schoolgirls, fancy dresses, and SD characters are only a level above in niche in contrast to what anime would lead you to believe.
The (official) Touhou fighters’ international community can be maybe like 200 people at once at times on a freaking IRC channel but that’s it.
While Vanguard Pricness might as well not exist.
how would you x-factor with only one button
