Hey a bunch of schoolgirls in a fighting game can be original, but no when every single game have them or cute/cool guys that resembles rip off from other anime characters, I dont want bizarre things out of the place like a Clayfighter game but something original, for example Skullgirls roster it is a bunch of girls but they are original and they fit very well in their world.
I mean I like an entire female cast but not when they are milked stereotypes I saw hundreds of times.
If you want something you’ve never seen before play Arm Joe. Personally, I’m not so stingy about original characters. My avatar is plenty proof of that. I feel what is most important is how a game/character plays. I can understand where you’re coming from, but do you main characters because of how they look or how they play?
I just saw some videos of Arm Joe and some chars fit, but others are out of the place like the small brown rabbit and some of them are stereotypes, they only are original because of the setting of the game.
Im looking something original with great art, for example if I make a game with an entire female cast I will do something like Etenal Champions but without a realistic look or moe/anime style
Skullgirls… more like Grossgirls! (Because they are gross)
You’re missing the entire point of games like these, which is to appeal to fans of an existing VN property or to appeal to otaku who like cute girl shows. They know they’re not original, and they’re not meant to be either.
I have a vague idea of a game I want to play, but specific enough to know that no current game matches up to it.
There’s dozens of games with unique casts that never caught on, but a new one with a big community isn’t just gonna fall into your lap, which is what I suspect you really wish for like every other lazily cynical fighting game player.
Indie games are often made by fans. Fans are not always known for their creativity.
For every dude who sits down to write a good story or make a good game there are millions of other people who just parrot the shit they like and write bad fan fiction. This isn’t all that surprising.
