I used to go there a lot back in the day. I preferred the college arcade more. Family just sucks now. I dont remember the last time I went but my friends go there often just to play foosball. my friend does play sf4 he mains akuma there.
i used to see combofiend play marvel back in 00-01. if we had a meetup i would be down.
Family Arcade review:
Imagine a strip club complete with low, mirrored ceilings and miami neon- replace the girls with sweaty dudes and 10 year old or more arcade cabs (SILENT SCOPE YOU GUYS, SERIOUSLY??) and some super thugged out kids abusing the Marvel2 cabs and you’ll start to get the vibe.
I went on a Friday night and sat around for over an hour. Played a Ken masher (who I suspect has never played before), and a scrubby abel. An older guy with a ponytail stood 1 foot almost directly behind me, watching me play through arcade mode twice. And 75 cents, wtf.

Buttons and sticks were functional, but were in bad shape. Met two friendly gamers, both very technical and skilled. One decent ryu/ken and another guy named Rob who mains Gief :love: and seconds Blanka. Some good light competition for a saturday late afternoon.
downside- expensive parking, the shirtless teenage boys who played the para/dance games within eye/earshot and their friends who take videos of them with their flips/mobile phones. Lots of anime ("
") fanclub type kids.
AI remains king of the ring, but since I don’t know combofiend personally or anyone else who wants to carpool from silverlake/los feliz, it’ll remain a once-every-six-months type thing for me. :sad:
If you guys aren’t weird we can get a casual going at somebody’s place, or at least carpool out to AI some weekend.

I went to lil tokyo last time to play sf iv the buttons didnt respond at certain times. park on the street at night. rather than going there to pay but I did go with my friend last time we didnt pay for parking at all in their parking garage.

has anyone ever been to cyberzone down in koreatown? i haven’t been their in ages. i did remember one time my friends got robbed there and the next week we rolled deep there and one of the korean guys who robbed my friends thought i was the person he robbed. (this was back in 2000 or 2001) that place sucks but once in a while had some cute girls there lol

College Arcade was way better than Family Arcade back in 2000 to 2002. After that both arcades became greedy as fuck. Token wars were pretty sick though, the players won during those battles.
When are peeps are Family Arcade and when is that stinky bumb not there.
I’m down to roll to AI sometime on Wednesday or Thursday of next week, but would much rather prefer playing at someones house cuz I’m short of cash as of late.
But yea fam arcade used to be cool back in the day but now of days its like eh. I agree that we all should get together there again one day just for the hell of it and get some lulz in.
