@indieDoroid It looks good but the blur is too high. Like I can see the high detail exists it’s just obscured by a layer of blur. I’m going to join your discord so I can get in on these WIP builds. I might see something different with it in motion.

I appreciate the offer of involvement but have my own stuff to work on and wouldn’t want to tell you I could and then not help out at all.

What kind of system are you using for input handling? Again I assume unity probably has a number of built in things but still curious.
What I usually do and have had success with is having a series of arrays that I insert values into at 0. Then I can set different rates of decay like .25 seconds or something and this gives me the ability to check the array for any number of inputs in sequence within .25 or whatever range I want. Or just check for the value at 0 for a normal press.

Controls actually tend to be one of the hardest things I think. Getting it to function how you want and feel right is challenging.

Lol well the fly kick is best known from Bruce Lee, who studied Wing Chun and then created Jeet Kune Do… but calling it Jeet Kune Do Janitor would alienate most people’s vocabulary. And besides Corbo isn’t really knocking off Ryu. He’s going to be stealing moves from other fighters too haha… j\k

Yea some moves were inspired by those Shaolin monk training videos on YouTube. The first strike animation on Corbo’s “ultra attack” was inspired by a Shaolin bo master video, who was showing his bo stances. Those guys are intense, Street Fighter needs a Shaolin character in it’s roster

I absolutely love your artstyle and the concept, but honestly, as other people already said, is that CRT filter really necessary? Not only it makes the game looks blurry but it takes away from your amazing art.

I didn’t really look into how Unity would handle movement. I created my own input system similar to yours, so basically when the game detects a horizontal or vertical input, it’ll record a value of “1”, if pressed twice then a value of “2”, etc. And like you after a set amount of time I reset the counter to “0”. I’m using a coroutine to reset the timer, since I was having problems with Time.deltatime in later versions of Unity.

LoL as cool as it sounds, Jeet Kun Do may be a bit too hard for kids to say … but on the other hand “Crotch Puncha Janitor” does have a nice ring to it :smiley:

double post. i love crt filters but i know i’m probably in the minority and i think most ppl would like options rather than being forced to use the crt filter. is there a way that you could make it an option out of say two or three other filters?
(but yeah, if i were making a game i too would want it as default)

Regarding filters, yea there seems to be a big divide between CRT or not to CRT. I personally love it too, but I agree with you, players should have the option to turn it off. Without the CRT effect I find the look to be very “normal”. But that’s just me

BTW Your mario vids are awesome. I love the video capture feeling haha. I wonder if it’ll work for Iron Corbo. Were those vid captures from Mario maker?
