Couldn’t have said it better Venkat.
I think it’s cool you guys are having a live stream (and a good one at that) at the tourney. Just don’t do that stalker cam shit on the girls like they did at Devastation.
I totally agree with everyone here. We don’t want coverage and exposure to be above the game itself. The stream team members have talked extensively about the goals of our production and we took note of all the negative aspects of what we’ve seen in the last 8 months in regards to the media coverage of the fighting game events.
That being so we definitely have some major improvements in time efficiency (you players won’t be waiting in line and delaying the tournament because the stream wants you), stream quality, and commentating.
Every negative thing you guys can think of we’ve already thought about it too and are already in the works to raise the bar. Things like biased commentating and the stalker cam won’t happen on our stream - and quite frankly I’m surprised it happened at all. It’s shocking really.
However, on the flip side some of you don’t think exposure is a good thing. That is your opinion and I can respect that. But at the same time I know some of Nor Cal’s top guys have come and talked to me and stated they wished Nor Cal players were more well known and that Nor Cal had better PR.
Right now If you don’t want to take part in all of this it is definitely up to you and we won’t be angry at all. If you don’t want your match on the stream please say so and we will move on. I have talked to John and Joe and told them that the stream team would rather have dead air on our show than delay the tournament. I personally waited like and hour and a half at evo to play on stage and was not happy about it.
The I Play Winner team is definitely the ones to trust if you are to put trust in anybody doing this right!
IPW is dope. Keep your media in house!
Our #1 priority is to have the cleanest looking game play streamed. Player interviews and commentary come second to stream quality but we’re looking at all the options.
Commentary isn’t set in stone. Honestly, it will probably come down to whose “in the buildin and feeling themsevles” on the day of NCR. I’ll most likely be moderating a lot of it considering I’m managing this project and will be in that area for most of the tournament. I’d love for Dogface or Seth Killian to commentate, but at the end of the day I want people to have fun and not feel like they have to commit to commentating for like 8 hours straight.
Thxyoutoo’s got it right, especially this part-
The bottom line is that we plan to put on a very respectful show. Of course there will be joking around and we’ll keep the atmosphere light, but we know we’re going to be there to cover an event and I think the team knows when its time to joke and when its time to get serious. We also know to keep the potty mouths at home because ILLiterate’s parents might look over his shoulders
And without spilling too many beans, we have plans in place to prevent any dead air from occurring whether we got a match or not. I know when I’m watching a stream, the one thing I hate more than anything is having nothing to entertain me for minutes at a time. At most, there should never be more than a minute lull with the NCR stream. We’ll have content to push live at all times, if not stocked up reserve.
Just to add something to what Mike said: on top of biased commentating, there is also biased media work. No offense to anyone, but it’s clear that every time we hear or see tournament media, it’s about the same names… endlessly so. There are few who should be mentioned frequently, such as Justin since he is the most consistent placer on paper.
But like Mike said, the iPlayWinner team is working on having non-biased, yet entertaining and efficient content. Have confidence that we’re taking everyone’s opinion/perspective into consideration and that we can hopefully exceed live stream expectations.
Heh thats a cool idea Jared! Dont forget the technical difficulty simpson thingy
Mike nobody is saying they don’t want a stream. It’s like the photography thing… everyone wants one, but very few people are willing to take the effort and time to do it. I think we are lucky to have people who are this time.
Anyway I knew you guys wouldn’t pull stalker cam bullsh, that was more of a jab at Devastation cuz I’m still kinda salty.
And a bitch.
Oh, if you enjoyed the “Land of Chocolate” Keystone Light intro … well, I can’t wait to see your reaction to the planned NCR intro video
Speaking of guest commentators, I’d like to see yoooooooon make a comeback. His youtube cvs2 commentary still cracks me up from time to time.
Im down with that. summons korngo
I didn’t “give” her a room, I was originally gonna room with Arturo, but he wanted to save money and split it 3 ways instead of just two, so Kara stayed in our room and we each paid the same amount of money (split evenly 3 ways).
I know it’s off topic, but I’m just clearing things up.
Thanks for clearing it up, I think SK closed the thread before some details got out, Sorry for assuming >.> So hows AH3? Is it gonna be played on the east coast only again?
dude, on topic! FUckin shit.
Well I’d like to nominate me and Hiro as a team if we could commentate a couple matches here and there. Other mentions, S-kill for finals/gf’s, Haunts, Jared, yoon and albert for cvs2, Black Brotha and Krongo sounds dope. Maybe John could get on some too get ricky to talk about how everyone sucks…jus some ideas

ill play anyone 4/7 for $20 all day
Lol. WELL, Commentary still needs to have atleast one black person. Or one white person that has rockefellers charm. Do we have one of those? The sf4 crew at svgl is kinda quiet. Champ could probably do it though, Him and korngo=Good commentary team.
