I’m gonna be moving to Korea around September and am hoping to find some local arcades for some AE action. Hope to meet some of you guys in the near future.

when silentness and dfox were still here (@spidertao wasn’t a bitch!), we ran into poongko and his crew at isu. i don’t know where those guys game now, but it didn’t seem out of the ordinary.
Poongko plays at ID now.
And I haven’t seen Tao in two years. Ridiculous.
I would like to answer all of the members’ questions in this forum:
Q. Where are the gaming hotspots in Seoul?
A. It all depends on what games you are interested in playing. If it’s Tekken or King of Fighters, go to Cafe ID. If it’s Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, or any other game, go to CONG (Culture of New Generation). Top players go to the venue that has their main game(s).
Q. How do I get to Cafe ID? CONG?
A. Cafe ID has moved from Hongdae to Daerim (Subway Line 2, Green). I do not know its exact location.
CONG is located near Nambu Bus Terminal (Subway Line 5, Orange; exit 5) I’ll post specifics on its location later this week.
Q. What’s the best arcade to hit up in Seoul for X game?
A. Green Arcade (Daerim) and Game City (Seoul Station; Subway Line 4, Light Blue; exit 14) both cater to Tekken players.
Themepark (Isu) was the main spot until it closed down a few weeks ago. With that powerhouse gone, you are limited. I say that because Seoul arcades are VERY difficult to spot. From my experiences, there’s one in Sinchon that has SSF4 and good competition from time to time [not sure on what version they have]. Suwon (Subway Line 1, Blue) has a great arcade for KoF98UM.
Q. Why are the button layouts weird for KoF?
A. Koreans use the “Nike” Layout, and cheaper arcades use random “I don’t care” layouts. I’ve played on at least 4 different KoF layouts at the arcades in Seoul alone!
Q. Where’s the Marvel scene?
A. ???

^ yo, do you guys have a place to stay or beds there? I know CafeID rents beds for $10 a night.
The reason I ask is I want to go when everyone is there but I live in Incheon and if I stay late I wont be able to get a way back.
There is a public sauna near the place which cost only 5k krw
Most of us use that place for shower / sleep when we miss bus/train
^^ They have neither. It was a sacrifice for spacing this time around (definitely paid off). Your best bet is to either jimjobang it or caffine rushing it the entire night, which isn’t that bad. in your situation, I’m sure that a bus goes between Incheon and Nambu, which means you could nap both ways. On the plus side, there is a variety of restaurants, convenient stores, and coffee shops right outside of CONG.
Philly do you guys have any Korean sticks over there?
Still aiming to bring mine to get fixed, or if my mom decides to send me money for an early birthday present, I’ll try to get an Omni if laugh doesn’t sell out of them.
