idk where exactly you live, but the hbc/itaewon area has a lot of places that have really good craft beers if you’re into that. personally, i’ve gotten into cider since i’ve been here.

i’m currently in sinchon having just moved from australia, missing my fgc there. are there any good arcades or meetups near me? I wanna go to cafeID but i’m not too familiar with seoul yet so i don’t know how to get there or how far away it is. Is there a friendly community here or is everyone pretty savage like the oldschool arcade days?
i’m not sure if it’s cafeID or not, but there’s a gaming spot in hongdae which is like 10-15 mins walk from sinchon.

Hey guys, It’s jon. For those of you not familiar or new to Korea, I’m the Cafeid streamer (also a foreigner in Korea so I know what its like lol).
Just to answer some questions and wanted to update you guys…
This was a secret but Cafeid recently moved from Hongdae to Guro Digital Complex (yea I know a downgrade right) and its even harder to find than before lol. But we’re usually always open unless theres a tournament somewhere and we will welcome you guys to come and play whenever and you can always sleep over etc for W10,000. I can tell you the directions if you want via twitter or something.

There are two arcades in that area, a popular one in Sinchon across the big church infront of Yonsei (i forgot the name but its B1 with a prize game outside) and a smaller shitty arcade in Hongdae near the pubs and clubs called Hongdae Game World. Both have a pair of ugly sf4 cabs but mostly tekken. neither of these places are cafeid though.
Sadly the Marvel scene is just other foreigners who play a far as I know. Its just not popular here but we do have it at cafeid if thats any consolation. And also Poongko is the only guy I know who plays SFxT (let alone sf4) Korea really isnt the place for non-tekken or LoL >.< but it seems some guys are interested in gettng into injustice
Yongsan is the best place to go for electronics in general, I don’t mean in the shopping complex either. Just outside the back exit toward the Hooters, theres a bunch of shops for electronic equipment as well as a warehouse for gaming. I’ve heard this is the cheapest place to get anything.
If you’re looking for full sticks I recommend Yongsan electrical town (as I said) or even TechnoMart (3F) in Sindorim. They’ll hook you up, just point at stuff, or if you know the name of the one you want like “Joytron ExChanger” or “Saulabi” you can throw those words out. If you’re looking for levers like Fantas, you gotta go to the Daerim warehouse building (not daerim station) in Euiljiro 3. Go up exit 11 and go straight until you see a large building with a big stoop to the 2nd floor as its entrance. Theres a bunch of stores you can look at but the best one is SamDeokSa (삼덕사).
You can find legit brewries in the hot spots like Hongdae/Itaewon and Gangnam/Sinsa/Apgujeong areas. But for the easy mode joint I’d recommend these pubs called ‘Self Bars’ or ‘World Beer’ that are fairly common anywhere. Basically they have bottled import beer at import beer prices in a fridge and you pick them out yourself. The price doesnt work too well if you’re going in raging but for small social gatherings theyre fine. I don’t recommend the food at these places though haha.

@JonSF is talking about the kind of place I went to at Cheonggu, a self bar. I was able to knock back Smithwick’s, Guiness, Kirin, and I don’t even remember what else. But for import prices, it wasn’t bad. I think my friend and I all told put down 5 beers for 25,000원. For shit budweiser I’m paying that much in CHINA.
You’re forgetting @laugh and Infiltration play xT, but they don’t go out to many gatherings as far as I’m aware. AFAIK laugh’s still soft banned at ID.
