So I arrived into Korea two weeks ago, and I’ve been keeping my eye out for an arcade with no luck. It’s been a while since I’ve been to SRK (or played SF for that matter), but thankfully my friend pointed out this thread to me. Besides weekends, when do you guys play at the Chongshin arcade?

the MP is once again broken on my gorgeous new joystick… i think i’m just pressing the button too hard or something… cuz i’m dropping combos left right and center now… it’s ALWAYS been MP that’s broken for me… i think cuz my middle finger is like RIGHT on top of it… and i press the buttons wayyy too hard

it’s really disappointing. i think i’ll opt to buy the TE stick cuz at least switching out faulty buttons will be much easier than soldering haha RIP hori stick… my heart belongs to u forever

laugh: ya it started happening 2 nights ago? at first, it was subtle and i thought it was cuzza the online lag… until it just happened non stop and i would miss dashes, combo’s everything… and it was confirmed when i couldn’t select a character even tho i pressed it like 3 times until it finally selected. ya i agree… i’ve stuck to the hori’s for a long ass time but i guess their parts just aren’t that great to begin with =/

Fantas don’t have gates. The only places with gated sticks is Cafe ID, but I forget where it is. I’m sure Philly will drop in to say later.

Cafe ID uses JLF’s I think with Sanwa buttons. Everywhere else in Seoul uses Fantas or Crown sticks with Crown buttons.

hey jamesepoop lol i’m kinda sad… i dunno what kinda work you’ll be able to do… can u replace exhori buttons with sanhwa buttons!!! i originally wanted that done but it wasn’t feasible. anyway… i’m kinda sad haha if we go by the prices u listed, i’ll be paying about $80 on service alone for the installation of sanwa buttons. i shoulda just bought a TE stick right off the bat lol that’s some good work u do though, good stuff!

i also played tokido online last night. it’s hilarious how u said he’s just cheap. cuz his team was FUCKING CHEAP. wolverine/sent/phoenix

it’s like the noticed the cheapest, easiest shit to win with at american tournaments and melded them all together. what i do like about his style is that he’s not afraid to use x-factor or supers. so when he has a chance, he actually kills characters. and then runs away to get 5 meters and has a very fucking cheap and solid dark phoenix. very effective wolverine and possibly the best sentinel i’ve played thus far in mvc3. and dark phoenix is a lil whore lol. also has one of the highest win percentages… he’s a second lord with an 86% win ratio when i played him. which is amazing cuz he’s playing when all the top players are playing

edit: i don’t wanna sound like i’m whining and calling him “cheap” and whatnot… cuz he’s a very VERY good mvc3 player. but it feels to me like he hasn’t dedicated himself to actually LEARNING the game but just enjoys winning lol so he employs some very basic but effective strategies to win. his execution of combos is actually NOT that great, it feels like he only plays marvel every now and then. and he also uses dark phoenix hahaha

man i forgot about this post for arcades here in korea when i came here a year ago and was able to get directions from laugh and tao to Isu arcade. was able to go there for a few months and probably played yall. Sadly havent been in the loop of gaming b/c of work so needing to get back into it b4 i leave in two months. So cafe ID is the place to for MVC3 action. How is Cheonho? havent been there yet but will try to go on a weekend soon.

Hey Tao. Free of charge man. You provided good advice earlier and that means alot. Just pay for parts and make sure we can get tools to change it. Do you have the Hori EX2 (is that the stick you have)? or Hori HRAP EX? The TE stick is a great stick for sure, but both have it’s ups and downs. Anyway keep me updated.

lol dayam free of charge!!! haha well it’s kinda too late now cuz i ordered a nice cheap TE stick i found on GMARKET for 120,000won on friday and it should be arriving today in the mail… the parts and tools and whatnot will have to be bought from laugh but whatever, it’s no big deal anymore lol. i woulda looooved a hori ex 2 stick tho man… i mean with sanwa buttons. cuz i dunno, it’s the stick i’ve been using since like 2002 even tho the buttons were always kinda iffy haha
i’m pretty sure i have the Hori EX2… it’s the semi ugly green thing haha i’ve also got a soulcalibur hori ex 2 stick which i bought used and it was iffy right off the bat. but usable lol. i’m prolly gonna just sell that one and see if i can get enough to buy sf4 AE console version haha
so what did end up happening with the health issue??? was everything resolved? were u covered by korean health care?

Ahhh, yeah, it’s a safe bet with the TE. You’ll be happy with it man. Just make sure to give it a shake down when you get the stick. Some people’s sticks have had issues from factory, but I haven’t ran into too many problems with them.

The killer cold took like 3 weeks to get over with 1 week of minor bronchitis. I wasn’t covered, but doctor fees was like 10,000KRW to see the doctor and like another 6 for medicine. Not bad man. 16,000 total for each visit. I also bought cold medicine from the pharmacy, but those just kinda kept life bearable until I got real meds. My work told me I can get insurance, but it’s not until after 3 months of being a resident before I can actually apply. Not sure how true it is, but they said it would be retroactive, so it makes sense.

So are you playing more at home now? If I wanted to start playing SSF4 (AE), where would I look to go in Seoul?
