Damn Kolin!

Not sure how useful this is, but tech nonetheless. MK. Vanity Step > Cr. MP-St.HP target combo links into St.LK, which can special cancel into LP/EX Parabellum.

Anyone know how to get the spacing on this consistently? I can randomly get it in training mode. I’m wondering if there’s a block string that we can do in order to set it up.

Okay so I just found out something very weird. If you press st. MK and let the move go through the full animation Kolin will stand in the same place. But if you press ANY button (including throw) before the full animation is over Kolin will actually do a small step forward. Try mashing st. MK or st. MK > any punch and you’ll understand what I mean. It looks like st. MK has a small window where you can cancel it into any other move and make her move forward.

Not so much tech but rather hitbox/hurtbox manipulation, but if you press st.mk at certain ranges a follow-up st.mp will beat mashed jab/short attempts even Chun’s cr.lk which has monster range for a 3f, so it can kinda be used to keep pressure up.

She has very similar issues to Juri with her normals, lack of consistent pressure. She also requires walk forwards for 1f to combo from certain frame traps just like Juri…ergh. Seems very weak against 3f characters, just because she has to give up her turn and use st.mk to trap them, or use lights into lights/mids into lights.

Take Juri and Alex’s issues within their normal set and you have(somewhat) what I’m noticing in Kolin’s moveset, her mids are slower than usual clocking in at 6 for both standing and crouching MP, and they’re both +2 so no decent sustained pressure. Her cr.mk is godlike though, confirmable into VT and + on block.

These issues are heavily circumvented by Vanity Step’s place in neutral though, so it matters much less.

Have you considered the threat of excounter, after 5mk?

Risk reward is kinda skewed based on your opponents meter options. But if you have a read, you have a read.

Eg. Vs Cammy

240/300 vs no meter
240/300 vs 1 bar
240/300 vs 2 bar
240/300 vs 3 bar

240/300 vs vtrig
240/300 vs 1 bar + vtrig
240/300 vs 2 bar + vtrig
240/300 vs 3 bar + vtrig

Perhaps 5mk is more for baiting, and or testing your opponents decision making against a -2 tool, with the threat of an excounter behind it. Than for actual pressure.

Seems more like a solid player, noob player killer type of thing. Mainly cause noobs like to press buttons and solid players are too textbook.


Forgot to add +hard knockdown, though i am not sure if she does infact get one after excounter.

Dont forget that she can cancel mk into step so she still gets that pressure. If you can learn to autopilot cr.mp,st.mk confirm into dandy step on block and hailstorm/parabellum on hit then she has much better pressure.

Found some, as usual, very situational stuff.

Been messing with this. The initial string and spacing will work regardless of if they are blocking or being hit. The string also beats 4 frame moves (haven’t tested 3 frames), so if you get a counter hit st.mk you cancel the st.lk into hands instead if you choose to.

Is there hitbox data yet? stMP stMK seem to have big hitboxes, great for catching other pokes.
