Playing a lot of Xrd right now, and even though it’s a Dash Fighter it reminds me a lot of SNK fighters. Heck, it’s arcade button layout is almost exactly like SNK’s default + the dust button. Plus it’s more complex super motions are just like SNK.
What I’m saying is, I would play Guilty Gear X Fatal Fury, even if it was a little more GG then FF*. If only for Axl vs Billy Kane.
air dashes and dust for the FF cast. Hopping and hyper hopping for the GG cast.
Well, if we counted the ip’s that they have made fighting games for but are not theirs we could add Hokuto No Ken, Dragon Ball Super Sonic Warriors & Extreme Butōden , Sengoku Basara X and Nurarihyon no Mago: Hyakki Ryouran Taisen
I also remembered that they now own the IP of Double Dragon, they also mentioned that they are interested on doing a FG with it, so there is that too.
Laban: Those are some really good points and yes I can see the merit to CVS2 and how I might have exaggerated it’s faults. I still have reservations against the CVS series so preferably if a new vs game was made I’d rather just have each company develop their own take on it as opposed to trying to combine the games into 1.
Meh. I’m pretty ambivalent about XIII’s ost. There are some top tier material (like Elisabeth’s theme), but most of the themes sound pedestrian. I’d rather have the Neogeo KOF composers, XI’s or 02UM’s.
XI composer was really good. You know considering the team they’re putting together for this game I was thinking, what if KOF XIV turns out to be the best KOF ever. I mean if these guys were able to give us the definitive version of 98 and 2002, this could be one of the best games SNK ever made. On that note, just to pass time till news comes out this is my KOF tier list.
For me, I like the 96, 97, and 2000 ASTs. XIII Goodbye Esaka was disappointing compared to 2000’s ver. OST and AST. I like some tracks from XIII like Fatal Fury team theme, Elizabeth’s team theme, K’s team theme (before getting burnt out on it when watching Arcade XIII match videos,) and Ash’s theme. Otherwise, I’m not too impressed.
Yeah, my favorite KOF track of all time is Each Promise. That, along with how much I hated the DLC 3’s alt tracks made me want to stay on the XIII side of the OST during play. I mean I could’ve lived without Each Promise because Queen is pretty good too but god damn the DLC characters’ alt tracks sucked.
Personally I feel like regardless of how you feel about it, XIII still has one of the best soundtracks in the series just because every song is at least decent. I don’t hate a single song in the soundtrack, where as just about every other game has a couple songs I really can’t stand.
Yeah I’ll admit XII is probably the most consistent OST. It might not have the highs of other OSTs but there probably isn’t track I outright dislike. Hoepfully for XIV there is a effort put into the OST and they don’t go the NRS of Capcom route by making the background music muted and forgettable.
i found 13’s soundtrack to be very hit and miss, mostly miss although not as bad as say sf4 where you just turn it off, still nothing will ever be as bad as 2k1 ost so i can take solace in that at least
Okay, if I were to hate one song, that would be it. But really I’m just mad that they didn’t use the one theme Mr. Karate actually had, which is the icing on the “XIII Mr. Karate isn’t Mr. Karate” disappointment cake.
You know I think now would be a good time for SNK to invest in a anime series adaptation of KOF. It was stated that they wanted to created their own MCU but with the SNK universe. I think they should do 12 episode seasons covering each saga. I think it could make a great shonen anime.
I don’t like 2k2 ost it’s a recompilation of old songs, I don’t know how they did it but all of them sound like ass. Midi music sounds better that damn OST.
