people should appreciate KOFXIV graphics more.

If you have to go back 23 years for a graphics comparison you should probably stop; the hole you’re digging yourself in is already halfway to China.

KOFXIV’s graphics right now are painful to mediocre. That’s fine, most of us still play games from the late 90s and early 00s. Just focus on the gameplay.

KOFXIVs graphics do really seem to fluctuate. In trailers and gameplay vids the visuals look like a HD PS2 port. However in screenshots the game has next ten visuals that look comparable to modern giggles when you do side by side comparisons. I’m not sure what’s causing the difference but it’s very odd.

if all the negative rants influences some kind of improvement to KOFXIV’s graphics, then good.
If this is how it looks at launch, the majority of true fighting game fans will still be ok with how it looks. the graphics could have been much worse, and they are still above average.

It would be immature, picky and very spoiled to complain about these graphics. As much as we would like better graphics, I’d say the online netcode is a more important subject.
pretty pixels (if you even call them pretty) sure didn’t save KOFXII and XIII from lame sales and ghost town communities.

Well anyways to get back on topic and the important things, even though it’s be same build as the PSX one I do really love how the gameplay is looking. One of the issues I have in playing KOF98 is that it just doesn’t feel fluid to me due to the execution barrier. This isn’t to say I would suddenly start winning if I could do all the combos and supers, but the fact that I can’t reliably do shit in KOF98 is probably a good reason why I lose as badly as I do. From what I can tell about KOFXIV through the gameplay vids is that it looks smooth. If the execution is anything like KOFXII then this is a game I can sink my teeth on. Out of all the 2D fighters to jump to 2D.5 fighters, with the exception of GG I think KOFXIV is probably the most faithful adaptation that still plays and feels like a KOF game from what I can tell.
