KOF XIV General Discussion - King of Fighters XIV Arcade Ver. Burn 2 Fight cabinets from Taito!

Watching that comparison video, I wish they would put in or show off more new moves than pretty much matching KOF 13’s moveset for the most part (which stripped a lot of moves from characters).

Im glad there’s people Reading my articles!

But yes, the held button buffer is definitely in kof13. The buffer is just way langer for basically anything.

Playing fighting games for the “personality” is like reading porno mags for the articles.

Rumors:

[details=Spoiler]Just have some small info I can share:

New trailers planned one before Evo and another specifically for Evo.
Cinematic trailer will be highlighting Terry Bogard, Geese Howard, Newcomers, and be completely different from the others. As in no "Yagami you basard" intro then Kyo and Iori fight exactly the same as every trailer then revealing new characters.
SNKP will have a booth at Evo this year with the game playable. It will be a newer build with more than 6 characters.
98FE and the PC Port of 97 are being looked into for a PS4 Release.
An exhibition is being planned for Evo as well as an announcement of a KoF League similar to the ones that Capcom and Team Ninja have been doing.[/details]

Can we trust this info?

How dare you accuse me of knowing something!!! I assure you I know absolutely nothing

I don’t think so. It seems like very basic info that can be easily thought up by guessing.

I mean, possibly, but he says the build at EVO will be a “new build with more than 6 characters” which kind of implies that the build at Taipei Game Show is the same old build as PSX. Maybe that’s not what he meant to say, maybe it’s just bad wording, but that seems very unusual to me. I wonder why he didn’t just sat the EVO build would be the most recent build or something. I don’t know, that one just comes off as weird to me.

SNK has been quite the leaky boat recently so I wouldn’t be super shocked if this was legit, it’s not even that far fetched. All of it is pretty minor info. The KoF league might be kinda crazy I guess but other than that nothing stated would even be worth getting upset over if it wasn’t true.

Does that mean I’m doing it for the wrong reason?

Getting off the subject about graphics (because there’s too much focus on that from this board & other messageboards like NeoGAF), let’s talk about something different.

There’s one thing that I haven’t touched upon: Too many teams with two guys & a girl! We already have about 7 teams consisting of that, being

Art of Fighting team,
K’ Team,
Ikari Team,
Psycho Soldier Team,
Mexico Team,
South America Team, &
Kim Team

if the leaked roster is anything to go by. While I don’t have a problem with it, I wish that there were more teams with two girls & a guy, as they’re pretty rare. Thankfully, the Yagami Team & the Palace Wan Team should fill in the gap a little.

Spoiler

Why not both '98: FE & 2002: UM? They’re some of the most popular KOF games out there.

Oda is a fan of devil’s threeways?

Did you ever felt Ryu’s personality in this teaser trailer of SFV ?

[/quote]

Street Fighter has never relied in charisma as heavily as the KOF series.

are viral sabotagers of KOFXIV discussions just invading these boards to kill the hype?

KOFXIV is already looking better than the art critics and graphics fanatics give credit. there is a wider range emotion there, especially from Iori, Chang, Andy, and Benimaru, besides Kula. and fighters like Kyo and Leona are properly presented . they have a serious tone, so OF COURSE they don’t shift dramatically in emotions like some of the more upbeat characters. every KOFXIV reveal they shown, they each have their KOF charisma. the only thing that is bringing down some of the characters is some of the character design decisions they made (like cutting Andy’s hair, giving Robert a stache), but for the most part the KOF XIV characters hold onto most if not all of their legendary charisma.

KOFXIV being a new start and models made from scratch with a sharper art direction, they look much more faithful to the characters than the doofy looking clowns in KOFXIII, and the abominations in Street Fighter IV, but even with the huge character design change and awkward proportions in SFIV, the street fighter fanbase still accepted AND adapted to the roster of monkeys that series has.

I mean like seriously, it’s like a wise person one said “there are countless things that can’t be taught, and good judgement is one of them.”

to the FGC, it’s “cool” to criticize and ridicule anything SNKP/KOF, and “expected” to praise whatever Capcom/StreetFighter does, even if it’s bad or lacking. the Street Fighter zealots sure are suckers to buying the launch version of SFV, which isn’t even half the launch game that SNKP is developing for KOFXIV. but those biased haters of course are going to skip KOFXIV “because of the graphix”. :stuck_out_tongue: there is no justice in the industry at all.

^I hope they are enough SNK apologists like you to keep your ugly ass game popular

I do kind of have to agree with affinity. The graphics from KOF XII & XIII are very overrated.

SNK Playmore ditched them & their models, but what did you all expect? Those models from both of those games were too time consuming & expensive for SNK Playmore, & this is their first go at 3D modeling. We need to give them a break.

Only Magegg and Affinity can find ways to be on opposite sides of a debate…and BOTH be wrong.

I don’t really see it as being a apologetic. There have been side by side comparisons between screenshots of this game vs other modern fighters that show that KOFXIV is indeed quite next gen.

Uhhh, no it isn’t.

Well, their first go at a game in 2.5D (KOF XII & XIII were still 2D).

I don’t know if it’s true but I think the 3D artists/designers for KOFXIV are mainly from the Pachislot division. Someone fact check me.
