I don’t stop by this forum area much but what do we know about King so far?

King

  • Sliding is unsafe on block EDIT: (durr, if not spaced correctly)
    Sliding is said to replace her crouching D normal… ā€œI don’t believe this thoughā€
  • Gained a mid-air Venom Strike. Flies horizontally with unlimited range.
  • Venom Strike is the same as it was. No high/low variations.
  • Tornado Kick is the '95 version. Doesn’t seem to have any invincibility.
  • DMs are Surprise Rose and Double Strike. Didn’t seem to have Illusion Dance.
    Surprise Rose can cross up as King dives. Can escape by rolling.
    Surprise Rose hits on the way up
  • King can Drive Cancel her tornado kick into her aerial Venom Strike. Useful for the extra damage or to keep you safe if the tornado kick was blocked.

This is in the stickied thread of KOFXIII News with ā€œno bsā€. That and the KOFXIII thread on FGD are the places to look for information, the latter includes a plethora of non-information, whining, wishing, and not playing KOF.

Who’s supposed to be the main protagonist in this game? It’s Ash or Elisabeth, right? (I’m fairly new to KOF and don’t really have a good grasp of the story.)

Ash is the protagonist; but currently, not the hero. One could say that Elisabeth is the hero of the story or Adelheid, but they aren’t really the protagonists. I think that SNK made the terms hero and protagonist a bit ambiguous this time around but that is how the game is presented. So Ash is the central figure just like Kyo was from 94-97 and K’ from 99-01, but it’s the ā€œVillainā€ that’s taking center stage. Since the story isn’t finished, we don’t know if Ash’s misconduct was actually out of better intention so therefore him being some sort of fruity/troll anti-hero.

anyone know how drive meter is built?

Judging from the videos you can build drive meter by

A. Successfully attacking (and hitting) your opponent
B. Getting hit by your opponent
C. And while contrary to the other two, guarding attacks builds drive meter for both characters
D. Another thing I noticed is that throws do not build drive meter but Special Attack throws do (like Benimaru’s Collider)

This. FGD is such a pile of a shit.

Bad news for Texas SNK heads…

I spoke to the owner of Planet Zero tonight, He said it’s ā€œhighly doubtfulā€ he’ll get KOF XIII - XII flopped on him too hard…he didn’t even break even off of it.

That place is kinda far for me and seems to require a damn toll. Ugh.

I’m really enjoying how this game is looking. I will be able to play it when I go to Japan in Oct. Suck having to wait so long but it will be worth it. Now if only I could talk one of these weak ass ā€œso-calledā€ arcades here in Vegas to see if they will get it…

Wishful thoughts

part of me hopes that maybe FFA gets it, but i’m not optimistic about it at all…
