Tokido abandoned the Kimmicks for Chin
They really bogged down the grand finals. I had a friend who this was his first time watching a KOF tournament and at the start it was blowing his mind, then after awhile it got intimidating and then he had to play online match against his brother so all he could do was listen as he played. And I was watching his match and the grand finals. When Xaohai won I thought Tokido did, thats how out of it I was from their lame ass commentary.
Id say it not being on during Sunday also hurt it, but then the crowd this whole weekend wasnt as audible as pat years. I really hated this year’s sound quality and Im really gonna go on a rampage when the feedback thread starts up below.
The only thing good t osay about the commentators was at least they werent YELLING AT THE TOP OF THEIR VOICE TO TALK TO SOMEONE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ST CABS! God that guy pissed me off. Then Max on KI commentary was pretentiously over killing Rico beating Justin and I turned off the stream at the point till Smash was on. Fuck stupidly loud commentators, if yorue gonna be loud then MOVE THE MIC FURTHER AWAY FROM YOUR MOUTH!
^^ politics maybe, i can definetely imagine games with more pot bonuses or backing by the developers playing a factor, or maybe someone thought it wouldnt be a good idea to place KOF on a footing where it has the potential to outhype the other games hence the sat scheduling, i remember evo 2 years ago and the KOF finals IMO really put the MvC and SF4 finals to shame, an d last year they got an opening spot (maybe as a means to attract less viewers) and the show was superb as well
This year’s wsn’t as good but it didn’t suck either, it was just disheartening to see Tokido go down like that after he really invested in the game…
Now I’m sure Tokido will drop the game like a bad habit
such a shame we didn’t even get to see Tokido vs Misterio(which is the match i was most looking forward to. Top 8 or even casuals)
and i’ve seen the comments from youtube and neogaf and such and it was all complaints about Karate, Iori, and Kim, but they ignore that we saw a clark, a daimon, a saiki, and a chin at the finals.
granted from a spectator standpoint the grand finals weren’t hype but for a specific analytical view (like the ones required to analyze say a Fei Long vs Fai Long match) it was rather technical, and seeing Tokido and Xiaohai download each other was in a way on it’s own more satisfying than Reynald just plow through Hee San Woo last year, of course reyna;d’s is better because of the entire story that was told in that top 8, and had Tokido won it would have been the same story.
Those complaining about No Bala, Reynald, and Romance are a bit off, this tournament is just as filled with Killers…
ET and Madkof (which is a previous evo champ) can body peeps like Luis Cha and Khanibalito which are on the same footing as Reynald, Kusanagi can go toe to toe with Bala on grueling and Tiresome FT20’s and guess what he didn’t even make it, Tokido knocked him off, Mr. KOF at any given time can be as good as Reynald (since they’re sparring partners anyway) and Tokido also took him out.
Still i wish for a Tokido vs Misterio FT10 
I doubt Tokido will, and Im really glad Xaohai won it after all the years hes put into the series. I think theyve just wanted to show off American fighting games more on sunday the past 2 years is all though. The top 8 was way more fun than Injustices.
