Yeah, I noticed that last night. Even though I got the DLC characters, I don’t have the desire to play right now, as my primary stick is broken. I’m waiting on one that I bought from here yesterday, so I should be getting it hopefully soonish. I was testing him a little bit with my secondary stick, but dude… square gates make me sad. I need my octo back… grr… My secondary doesn’t have a JLF, so my octo doesn’t work on it.
Lol HD combos with EX kyo are really easy
Why is Mr. Karate’s St. C Jump-cancelable?
As far as I know his only normal that isn’t jump cancelable is s.D. Everything else can be jump canceled, but only on hit. I imagine the primary reason for this is to allow you to get TK air hcf+K into your combos.
Wow didn’t know that; is he the only one who can do Jump Cancels?
Leona
That I’m not certain of, but someone more informed would be able to tell you, I’m sure. I have the feeling other characters might have one or two jump cancelable normals, but as far as I know only Mr. Karate gets almost a full set of them. These could lead to some dastardly reset -> cross-up setups.
How do they benefit her?
She controls the air game with her normal moves more than any character imo, you can cancel :lp:, :lk: and :hk: into the X-calibur ( :qcb: A, C) and V-Slasher moves.
i think you’re confused… they’re not talking about special/super cancellable jump normals, but ground normals that can be cancelled into a jump.
My bad, lol
:lk: and :hp: are the only ones i can think for the moment.
Cancelable jump normals vs. jump cancelable normals. Shit gets confusing lol.
Maybe this can help

5B and 5C aren’t jump cancellable. he’s using HD to jump out of it for those.
Maybe someone can help me on this. Whenever I do Daimon’s tenchigaeshi (63246P) after inputting a move I get his jiraishin (623P). To make this clear whenever I do 632146P by itself I get the move but if I input a single button before doing the command such as B 632146P I get 623P. I turned on input display and see that I’m clearly doing the motion correctly but still get 623P to come out. The weird thing is that if I do it very slowly it will come out even though the exact same inputs are being displayed (the exact same with no variation other than I did it very slowly). The main problem with this is that a lot of times it won’t even combo because of how slow I did it. What’s funny is that I’m hitting a button before doing the motion, not a direction so it isn’t like the system should confuse itself by holding a direction for too long.
This is the single thing holding me back from dropping Clark for Daimon.
^
I’m having a similar problem with Vice, hate the fuckin hcb~f input. Worst input ever.
I was having that problem, but only from the 2P side. Honestly? Use a 360. Start at forward, go through down to back, over the top and end at forward, and you’ll stop having that problem. Works like a charm for me.
That’s actually what I’ve been doing to compensate for it but it feels hella retarded to force me into doing the wrong motion to get the right motion when the right motion get me the wrong motion. I guess the input system in this game is just as retarded as the input system in any other fighting game. Don’t get me wrong though, I do love KOF XIII at the moment.
All I can say is you just gotta practice that notation. The same way you would practice any other notation your not good at. Most of the grappler characters main grabs are HCBxF as you may notice so its important to get it down. Just something you"ll get better with over time. Like trying to get Double QCF cleanly.
Just swing the stick to the side then slam it forward. I can do it on stick all the time and rarely miss it. I can also do it on analog and d-pad pretty consecutively, but that’s because i’ve gotten really acquainted with that notation over time playing KOF. From playing characters like Iori with his HCBxF grab resets, and other characters like Beni, Vice, Damon, and O.Yashiro back in the day.
I remember when I started KOF a long time ago I made it mandatory to get this notation down. Which is one of the main reasons i mained Vice and O.Yashiro; they had some of the coolest HCBxF Moves. Oh yeah and Yamazaki’s HCBxF command grab headbutt…
You guys will get it down smoothly overtime.
O Yash Yoop throw is cooler :V
But yeah, regardless of whether this is the easiest real game in the series or goofy input shit makes things harder than they used to be (Personally I think there’s a little of both), things will come with time and practice. Nearly everyone I’ve known who hasn’t grown up with KoF has needed to adjust to it all at least to some extent, so just be patient.
