<3 The classic Kyo stage.
Playing sessions with my brother when he noticed all the detail in the stage and pointing out things. Especially when its night time on stage.

How’s King / Mai / Maxima as a team?
Maybe Athena too.
Just looking for spacing / zoning / normals / ease of use.
Return to neutral after QCF + HK
Sounds perfectly fine to me. imho King doesn’t really need HD (As a point character I think it’s most efficient to just use one drive bar for her corner combos) and Mai doesn’t really need drive or meter either outside of neomax/2 bar HD combo, so you can save some up for Maxima who is a meter whore. I don’t feel that he’s especially easy to use (Not that he’s Duo Lon/Chin levels of effort), but the other three characters you mentioned are fairly easy/simple overall. You could easily stick Athena in either spot before Maxima too.
Essential. You don’t need it in every situation or against certain people, but it’s good to know how to do it so it’s available to you when you most need it. And it’s important to understand how it works so you know how to beat it. If you know how it feels to have your alternate guard beaten by high/lows from a human perspective, you could use that knowledge to your advantage against another person that does alternate guarding unwisely.
And yeah, it certainly helps take care of mix-ups off of blockstun. Just try to learn how to maintain an alternate guard “slowly” so you don’t do it as fast as possible and be 50/50 susceptible to lows/highs. So you could watch a bit and crouch block as long as you could before having to alternate high for a little bit to keep blockstun then return to low and watch the opponent again. So just set the dummy in Practice Mode to try to tick throw you (preferably with a command throw) and try to maintain the alternate guard.
I’m guessing Athena/Kyo/Yuri is a good order yeah?
I don’t think there is a such thing as a bad order, so long as you put the character who you can use without meter up front, the character who you can get the most damage off with using meter in the back, and you put your best all around character in the middle - only really changing the order when a specific match-up calls for it.
That’s just how I feel about it, anyway. Sure, Character A might be considered an anchor by the community, but if you do better with that character without using meter, then for you, that character should be put on point. Correct me if I’m wrong, I just picked up Theory Fighter.
So, do you guys have any guesses as to who will be in the next game based off of what we’ve seen in this one? I think when Hwa beats Raiden, he says that the two of them should team up with Billy next year - seeing as this is a team that makes sense, I’m assuming that means that Choi and Chang will be back next time to team up with Kim. Also, when you have Clark vs Mai in arcade mode, Clark requests that Mai take on either Leona or Whip to join their Women’s Team next time to make them more feminine, and Mai accepts. Not only would this mean Whip might be in the next game, it could mean that either King or Yuri would have to form their own team next time. I’m banking on Yuri, considering she seems to leave the women’s team more often than King - they could team her up with Kasumi or Malin for some interesting inter-team rivalry… or they could team her with Ryo and Robert, and then Takuma would form his own team - maybe another Master’s Team.
Characters I’m expecting/hoping to see in the future are Adelheid, Shion, Oswald, Heidern, Botan, and Shroom. We’ve also seen sprites for Chang, Momoko, and Malin, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them either.
I’ve been just winging it with my order’s lately.
But if I have to I put EX Iori first, since I play him very will with no meter. I almost forget I have meter bar sometimes while playing him because IMO he’s just as good without any.
Then Mature next, I play her well with little to no meter & I can also build meter with her easy.
Then a course Vice last, when she has a good amount of meter she crazy. CD’s ground & Air leading to HD combos.
Personally for me, I could swap these orders around randomly and be happy with it lol. Just my playstyle.
The characters I’m hoping for are Oswald, Momoko, Blue Mary, Duck King, Hinako, Malin and Yamazaki.
The characters I’m expecting are Chang, Choi and Whip. Don’t play any of the characters or have any preference for them, but just based off of what happened in-game for XIII, I’m expecting them in XIV.
Vanessa, Seth, Ramon and Blue Mary showed up a decent amount in the story mode as behind-the-scenes players, so they might re-emerge as well.
Also, does anyone know the Block Stun and etc. for Vice’s :snkc:Mayhem on Block. Played alot offline today and it seems like people just couldn’t or would not punish whenever I do it. Its looks pretty damn safe except for against grapplers.
Edit: Nvm, it can be punished, just tested some shit out in training mode.
Don’t forget Eiji…
Haven’t been able to buy my own copy yet. (hopefully tomorrow).
Got the demo
Went into Tutorial mode
Pulled up Kyo trials on Youtube.
We in there.
I’m still hating being limited to the sixaxis for this game. I also want to build a team around yuri <3
i’m a little mindfucked now
testing safejumps with my chars i discovered that you have a invincible frame when you saferoll if you leave the stick neutral.
and you can cancel that inv. frame with anything (blocking, crouching, etc)
i tested this with a 2f safejump (meaning that 2f or less startup attacks hit me when i’m falling). i found strange that when i leaved the stick neutral the attack whiffed, but when i input left direction, the attack gets blocked.
i recorded a 2f safejump with mature, and saiki doing first a neutral to grab ex dm, and the dm connected :C
and finally the saiki ex dm done as a reversal, which didn’t connect because it’s an instant grab and mature is still on the air.

nothing of this happens with 3f safejumps (it always hits or gets blocked).
Thanks lol

Feeling normal Kyo over Ex-Kyo. My team now is Ex-Iori, Kyo, Takuma. Probably gonna drop Ex-Iori for Mr. Karate.
Is there any ETA on Mr Karate? He looks fun.
So out of curiosity, are there any differences between the PS3 and 360 versions of the game (other than controller?) Stuff like input lag, arcade accuracy issues, slowdown, better sound quality, etc.?
Are you me? I use the same exact team. Although I sprinkle in Kim, King, and Robert depending on the color of the moon.
You most likely won’t be able to run both Mr. Karate and Takuma. Much like you can’t run Ex-Iori and Ex-Kyo with their normal counterparts.
