KoF XIII General Discussion: Part II

Everyone is a Pokemon nerd pretty much. Most just don’t admit it.

Came 2nd at a local tournament, got owned in the grand finals though. It was really fun though and it makes me want to learn the game

As much as I love Gato being S+ I’d rather have an XI UM that’s rebalanced and adds Heavy D and Linn.

Mai’s Neomax is really amazing, you can punish just about everything from anywhere on the screen.

where does frame data come from? how do we get kof XIII frame data? do we have to hack the game and collect it form there? or do we get it from snkp?

Well there is no official frame data and no one has really collected frame data. I doubt there’s going to be flat out frame data figures anywhere in the game, and if there were I’d be able to find them. So basically the only option is to record frame data manually, which if you’ve never done is the most tedious, inaccurate thing ever. You’d record the game at 60 FPS and then play the video back frame by frame and literally count frames of startup and advantage on hit/block. Active frames are incredibly hard to count and you’d basically have to guess at it.

using “guard one then jump” option in training is a decent, quick way to get a rough idea of frame (dis)advantage

Trying to learn a character I have been meaning to learn since KOF98, but have been too lazy to do so, that character is Vice.

Messing around in training room, would you say she’s really meter/hyper drive dependent? Seems so to me, either way, really odd character, but seems like fun.

She lost her Ravenous, Ground & Air (Chun Li Kicks). Also her Cr. :snkc: that was a very good AA in 98. Instead your stuck with using her St. :snkd: for AA Its not fast but it AA’s nicely.

Although, put those aside she’s solid but will take some time picking up depending on your skill level. She has problem’s with Zoners. However, If you learn to use her Splash :f::d: :df:+:p: with good timing they"ll become less of a problem over time.

You can combo her Decide :hcf:+:k: into her command grab since it doesn’t toss the opponent anymore but it brings them closer to her. This also makes her Mid-Range game scary.

Her HD combos will take some time getting used to. Like the simple ( :snkd: x :f:+:snka: x :qcb::p: to :hcf:+:snkd:) Repeat “x” Times then end with her DM or MAX DM will take some time.

Alot of people say she’s meter dependent which she is in some cases;…but IMO I think using a certain amount of meter with any character is depending on your personal playstyle. I myself dont use alot of meter unless the character will die by the combo by the meter that was used.

Ah, I see, thanks for the reply :). My skill level would be pretty low IMO, the only character I have a decent understanding of and can really combo well with in this game so far seems to be King, hah.

Though, I will keep using Vice and find out the best way to keep doing so for me.

Updated my post with a few things. Also, check out her Hyper Guide

what about hitbox data? can it be viewed directly off the game? I remember when super street fighter iv came out, hitbox data was leaked for many if not all characters. it was Very informative and I learned a ton from it. any chance something like that can be replicated?

God I love this game…You know a game’s a labor of love when it’s almost 3 weeks in and you’re still spotting new cameos in the background. Saw Mars People  There’s what looks like a robed, hooded guy that seems to be swinging something on top of one of the structures in the night stage with the pigs and panda. Anyone know who he is?

I doubt it, but it would be nice.

quick question…
what does passive mode do on practice mode?

edit: nvm, it just does that your opp safefalls lol

Actually does anyone have the old pic that was showing all the cameos in the arcade version? Or an updated one? or a thread showing/saying all the cameos in each stage?

I’m practicing with Yuri and I’m learning her BnBs. I actually have them down pat to the point I can do it consistently but a friend told me I’m pressing buttons too much and mashing out combos. So I go into training with inputs on and I noticed that I pressed some buttons two or three times in succession. But I can’t seem to do combos on this game without double or triple tapping.

Is this a viable tactic to circumvent possible execution barriers or just plain mashing? Now I don’t go around pressing any button midmatch but when I’m doing combos it makes it easier for me.

I don’t think there’s a problem with double tapping. I play Yuri as well and double tapping helps me land combos, particularly c.b c.b s.b and double tapping C after a dp+k.

Anybody experienced a bug where the win loss numbers are messed up during a player match?

I’ve seen this happen two times already. For example I will be fighting someone and up 5-0, sometimes the otherside will display something like 0-1. When this happens, theirs names are blanked out, their levels are reset to 1. I also noticed that it affected my cumulative win loss history, where my loss number went from 86 to 99 all of a sudden.

Everyone double taps
