KoF XIII General Discussion: Part II

Actually I covered Ralf somewhat a couple pages ago. DON’T GCR, do Guard Cancel Attack because most of his normals are + including some special moves so he can frame trap your invincible roll. Guard Cancel attack will knock him away and you’ll be at a better advantage imo.
I think Ralf is B+ solely because of his mid range spacing and + everything when he touches you. However, no real defensive options really hurts him. His 236+AC is probably his best defensive option but you can grab it in the middle of the animation even if you hit his autoguard with a low. If his Vulcan Punch was invincible or he had a command grab he would be an A character to me.

Thing about fighting Ralf is, you HAVE to use meter as much as possible once he gets in. You cannot afford to “I’m going to try and save this meter” option against him. If you do so you’ll find yourself hurting more in the next round.

Yo, I can’t take online play in this. I haven’t had to input moves so damn hard since 99/00. Because that’s exactly what it feels like online. Every input seems to require pressure to get it to come out. I’m used to offline inputs so I used the game feeling smooth as butter. So as I go online, it’s like someone threw on some weighted clothing.

The only way you can even play online is obviously to keep playing and playing and playing until you get used to the lag. Dude I just had a session(seems he got butthurt because I said how do you tolerate this, it’s like 99), you can tell he’s used to that shit. It’s like driving a car without power steering online.

Lol. Dude. You mashed SRK on wakeup half the time and didn’t seem to know any basic combos. WTF did you expect? I saved that last replay, you went fucking jungle with Shen and mashed as hard you could then my Hwa beat you in two seconds.

Consider it payback for trolling like the nub you are buddy boy. People like you talk shit but can’t back it up if your life depended on it.

Edit: Also LOL. You lose online and run to SRK to cry about it.

I’m an online 98 player. So, the only way for me to get good is to play online. XIII’s online is so shit, I can’t use it to practice seriously. Anyone else willing to do it is most probably going to learn how to play the game wrong. It’s just that unplayable, even within the same region (Norcal to Norcal.)

I honestly don’t think it’s that bad guys. I mean, I drop some combos (for some reason Billy’s EX Upkicks then t+B in corner, I can rarely land the B Upkicks after that) and it’s hard to block crossups and shorthops, but I maintain it’s playable enough to learn matchups.

As an online player that built up my skill in the past 3 years on GGPO, playing XIII online is fucking shit and a fucking disappointment. A big slap in the face to me by SNKP. Yes, it’s that bad.

Awesome. I’m a troll apparently and I hurt your feelings. How am I supposed to do any basic combos if lag is throwing me off? What are you going to say? “I had no trouble pulling off my combos online!” Yeah? That’s because you’ve been playing online the entire time. I can do every single combo I want offline perfectly. You’re honestly going to say that lag can’t throw anyone off? Bro, you’re the SECOND person I ever fought online. Nah, I must be trolling. No way I’m not used to playing online with lag though right? I’m making excuses for being a bad player when I never said I was good in the first place.

Apparently in YOUR world the connection is the same regardless.

This is what this guy is not getting. I’ve been online the entire time. Every single combo, every tactic, I’ve only practiced OFFLINE. If you are only used to offline play, lag will mess you up. Anyone who has played any game from offline to online can back that claim up.

I’ll be honest, I’m not used to the lag so I ended playing like shit. Never claimed to be good. I can tell by how he played and how the guy I had my first online set against played, that you have to keep playing until you get used to it. If you get a solid connection it can be respectable and you can get better.

A basic combo? You can’t do a basic combo in a playable connection? Bullshit. You mashed buttons every single time. I go offline to practice almost every day, and I try to play friends offline when I can. Do I fuck up HD combos? Sometimes, but I’m getting better. It’s easy to fuck them up online. But a basic combo? They’re easy to do online, it’s muscle memory. And it’s not like 3SOE where people teleport or Dive Kicks have a million plus blockstun advantage no matter where they hit. 13 doesn’t have that. You just suck.

“OMG Hatred Edge! Stop playing! Go back to gamefaqs!”

You ever played KOF XI? Ever played that and then went to play something like 97-00? That’s what your connection felt like to me. The guy I fought right after you had a better connection I was pulling off my combos. HD activate on hitconfirm? Did that with Iori. I dropped the damn combo but still. And an HD combo isn’t muscle memory either? crbx2-3 into Hien and stC fwd+B fwd+A>whatever with Robert? Didn’t pull it off against you but the 3rd guy I fought? Pulled it off almost every time.

Like I said, I never claimed I was good. I simply avoided online because it did throw my timing off. I actually wanted to have a longer session with you so I could get used to the connection so that I can actually play someone and try to get better since you know, I suck and am free to Clark, but nope. Your feelings got hurt. GGs on dropping too. Can’t get a dedicated session for shit.

Yeah, beating you 5-0 and getting 3 OCV’s with Clark on 1st is dropping…

you guys are still bitching/defending the online for this game?

really now…we already had a verdict that it’s a hit/miss unless it’s straight 4 bars.

The online is pretty 50/50, even with the best connection I find it to be a nightmare trying to block in the corner, and I’ll drop HDs with characters I have NO excuse to be dropping with (Shen for example, for some reason reads it as though I hold down C when doing the 236C). For general purposes though, you can’t complain much.

I have pretty much stopped playing and started messing around with Garou/98/02 for any online SNK games though, wading through a sea of shitty connections doesn’t really seem worth it when I could be playing people further away with a better connection, and typically higher level of skill.

Same. That’s why I still play 98 on GGPO over XIII’s online. My basics are decent until I play XIII and XIII physics kick in and anti-air normals start sucking.

Play Ryo

XIII’s online is on the level of UMVC3s online, in other words that shit is ass. Back to GGPO for some 98 if I want online.

Our connection was playable but you could feel the lag. Shit, I felt it as soon as I reached the character select screen. Obviously I’m not saying it’s unplayable but you’d have to keep at it until you get used to that lag. This guy is trying to humiliate me by saying he OCVed a bad player online. Bravo.

No, I OCV’d a troll that talked shit and can’t back it up and takes the DSP route and blames all of his problems on lag.

You’re welcome.

Okay, so you missed the part when I said “I was free to Clark”. Missed when I said “I never said I was a good player”. Neither of which is because of lag. Stay being salty over some supposed “trolling” though.

I use the online for matchup purposes and because I am lonely in this game. NO one plays in an hour drive radius of me and I dont have a car to begin with. Online is the only way I can play now because people have dropped it for marvel or VF. However, it does pisses me off. Like, a lot of shit people get away with online and you cant do offline. With that saying, Shen is so fucking stupid online. OH MY QCF+C UNCHARGED IS -3 ON BLOCK? ONLINE IS +2 MY NIGGA OLD THIS 2C REAL QUICK. Pisses me the fuck off. Same goes for niggas throw teching out of rolls probably because of the delay because I punish them bitches 100x times more offline. I’m just happy to play for the most part though. It really sucks that I dont live in socal because at this point all I wish all I could play is KOF.

Clark’s sCD is a pretty good AA/defensive tool at about Mid-range if you predict they’re going to try something.
