I may be one of the worst KOF players out there, but I still love this game to death. Definitely my favorite fighter right now, maybe even of all time. I just wish I didn’t live in bumblefuck. New Jersey so I could play some people besides my friends.
anybody have like a ranking of most played to least played characters? Or do you pretty much see everyone in tournaments in this game?
Raiden is definitely the least used character in my experience. I’ve never seen anyone use him in person, never fought him on PSN or XBL, and I’ve only ever seen him used twice on steam/youtube/etc.
If I had to say 3 least used characters: Raiden, Mature, Ryo
KOF games are infamously unpopular in the states, compared to the rest of the world. XD Europe has a lot of good players.

Europe has good players, but TBH in KOF13 I think the states are ahead. When Oscar(Answer) went over there and demolished that chick, I was pretty certain that the states were ahead just by looking at her game. Sure, she doesn’t represent the entire nation, but until EVO or some type of 5v5 US vs EU, I feel confident that us players in the states are better than them. All due respect, they do have good players.
First of all GOOD SHIT to Nagato for dealing with my scrubby ass for like 40 games lol. I feel I am improving in this game but not at the pace I would like. Is there anything you feel specifically I should work on? I haven’t looked at many replays of myself but it feels like my anti-air game is off especially against Iori.
I still got to your last character many times though…that’s a good sign

The US has really put a lot of work into this game. I really think an American, European or an Asian player could take EVO. It should be interesting to see.
Oh no you’re not scrubby bro. Good Shit, btw you and one of my peeps from bama have the best Mature’s I’ve played. If anything you should work on is to try not to DP as much when getting pressured. I usually don’t like using meter outside of combos, but if I have to burn 1 stock to get out of danger goddammit I do it lol. You actually play defense really well because I can’t get my Iori 50/50’s because you s.C the shit out of me everytime I went for command grab. I really can’t give you any improvement tips with Athena since I don’t play her, but I actually feel like I’m playing Lil Majin a bit when I play yours. I assume you picked some stuff up from him or that’s just how Athena gets her game going.
As for the anti air game, if you already noticed it’s a lot harder from other games due to hops and shit. Since you play EX Kyo, you could do hcb+KK and since it has auto guard it would beat ANY hops(I tested it in some matches during my FR pools and against some friends. ALL of them got salty) and you’ll get a counter, which does like 250 iirc. Also, remember to hit upfoward when trying to do fireball motions when doing footsies or running so you won’t get a DP. Use upback with kyo when trying to do hcb+k so you wont get reverse DP. Also, just work a tad on your execution with Kyo, then again you just picked him up so it’ll take a bit.
Korea uses a lot of Mature. IIRC, Poongko uses her along with Guts and MAD_KoF. Ryo isn’t used much lol but I’ve seen a couple. Raiden is still ridiculously good, and if you don’t learn to alternate guard, he will destroy you every time. HEADCRUSHYAWWW.
Don’t see much Hwa either, although he seems strong.
Hey, who would you guys say is better with meter, K’ or EX Kyo?
Probably K’ in my opinion just because he’s got those anywhere juggles that can lead into kill combos making him a little more threatening. EX Kyo’s high damage stuff are not the most practical things in the world I think, it’s better to just give him a little meter to work with so he can get his good 40-50% life combos consistently as opposed to blowing it on high damage.

Hwa is my current Kryptonite. I always forget he has that fucking grab super and always get lit up by it lol.
I know exactly what you mean. He really doesn’t seem like he’d have a grab super. -_-
His HD combos are really nasty too.
It’s not the HD cmbos you should be afraid of, it’s the drunk combos.
Hey everyone I am very new to KOF (but a good UMVC3 player) and I was wondering a few things.

I run a team of Clark/Maxima/K is this a good order for it? Basically looking for tips on the team order/synergy to see if I have things fucked up at all.

What should be my basic gameplan with Clark on offense? Also what are his best options to combat runaway zoning?

How do I determine what is comboable in this game? In marvel everything had a basic flow to it like normals can xx into specials xx Super Moves etc… I have not really been able to discern something past desperations can only be cancelled into neomax’s if hd gauge is used.

Is there a strategy guide of sorts that cover the actual KOF13 system in depth like the brady guide for marvel? I personally get much better at fighting games when I understand whats under the hood!
Hwa is good but I think his most dangerous weapon is his s.D. You can stop the grab super by alternate guarding and tech rolling more smart. Hwa is very danerous which is why I kinda want to learn him more but I just can’t seem to win with him.
Bro, ask your questions in the Q&A thread. I think this thread is just for simple questions, new information about the game, and somewhat matchmaking. You want to know a lot and I don’t want to load the page with a lot of shit that should be in the Q&A.
I also think it is much more useful to learn a new game yourself than getting a bunch of tips from people about strategies, team order, and character selection. I found myself to do a lot better if I just went into the training room and explored everything myself. I think people just want stuff spoon fed to them and it doesnt really benefit them as much as it could if they looked for stuff themselves.
Okay Tutorial videos delayed because I became a useless piece of shit and started playing Persona 2 Innocent Sin on PSP. Pushed back until next weekend but I’ll really make sure it’ll come out. Already in Sony Vegas in the middle of it.
