Lol, I had 70 dollars in free amazon credit but I rushed out and got this at Gamestop, kinda wish I would have waited now but oh well, its all good

maybe it’s my capcom background, but I absolutely hate this game.

First: The controls are sloppy. If you are walking forward and do a fireball, it does a shoryuken…etc. You have to dial special move motions in super slow or nothing comes out. In terms of controls, if SFIV is a normal human being, this game is a paraplegic.

second: Too much emphasis on jumping. I mean all of Kyo’s homo team can essentially jump in all you all day long. They have arcing kicks, where it essentially hits all angles. Up high, down low, horizontal, doesn’t matter. One button makes it an easy, no skill way of having total air superiority.

third: The issue is exacerbated by some characters not having an anti air normals while others cant “shoryuken” on wakeup. jab is faster than shoryukens in this game. So that leaves the counter or roll. If you roll, you get comboed coming out of roll. Counter works, but does little damage, and as such, doesn’t really make the opponent fearful of jumping in constantly.

fourth: whereas special moves in street fighter are usually rock/paper/scissors, one characters move might have higher priority, etc. to keep people from spamming…that’s not the case with this game.
The fruity guy in kyo’s team has a freaking fireball that acts as an anti-air. WTF. Has the most potent anti air special that hits from ALL angles, can be mistimed, etc and has really small risk, since it can hit at a good distance away. Robert’s flying kick is another shining example.

I give it a 5 out of 10. After playing this game, it makes me appreciate SFIV even more.

I wish capcom just bought the rights to SNK characters and made CVS3.

That would be a dark, dark day.

I assume the patch is out today. It’s making me install a 772 mb update

Which characters? I know Kyo has nothing like that. His jump D can be beat by some low B’s I think, it only hits horizontally.

What character are you using? Stand A is not good with every character in this game, and is only anti-short hop. Lots of characters have anti-air normals, don’t focus on DP in KOF.

The game is butt.

BlazBlue is much better.

Yes it is your capcom background. This is a different game. Perhaps instead of reviewing what you think may appear to be broken, you can ask for ideas on how thing can be beat, or what the weaknesses of certain moves are. Also if we wanted to play a game that’s like rock paper scissors, we’ll play just that =P I believe SFIV is more than just that as well.

Let me give you some replies to the examples you stated above, although its not limited to what I am going to say.

  1. Controls are not very sloppy, you just need to get use to the mechanics since this is not the same game. If you want to move forward and do a move with a qcf motion, you will need to put your controller in neutral for a split second and make sure you hold forward when you finish the move.

  2. Each jumping attack has a weakness, you just need to find it. If people are using jumping hard attacks they can be beating by air to air jumping light attacks. If they are doing hops, you can do f+C, s. C, s. D, s. A or more depending on the character.

  3. You’ll see people jump/hop all day if you don’t punish them enough. Each character has their own method for AA. b+CD is just something they all share. What characters do you use? I can try to give you some ideas on what to use for AA.

  4. If you talking about Benimaru (I can tell you didn’t give the game much chance since you can’t remember the name) then his qcf+P is probably thrown out a lot since you haven’t figured out how to beat it. Almost any super can go through it. It has a little recovery at the end of the move, so you can dash in or jump in if you can time it right. It also has a little start up time, so if you’re close up, I doubt your opponent will be dumb enough to use it.

I think he meant Ash.

If you are walking forward, then do a QCF in SFIV, it will Shoryuken too. I use that as a shortcut to Shoryuken in reaction to Balrog charges a lot. The controls are actually quite solid in this game, you simply aren’t used to them.

I hate to sound mean, but you really do sound like you have some bad fundamentals in SFIV, along with clearly no understanding of KOF. The only answer to being attacked on wakeup is a Shoryuken? What do the other half of the SFIV cast without Shoryukens do when people try to attack them on wakeup? Just blocking and finding an opening when the time is right is and will always be the safest answer to being attacked on wakeup in any fighting game.

And don’t you fucking DARE call Benimaru fruity. He’ll kill you, and he’ll make it look fabulous.

Seriously… this just made my day.

I want to find a solid use for his Captain Thunder move. :lovin:

And I’m starting to think Ash is a beast now. At first, I wasn’t quite sure, charging didn’t seem like a fit for this style of play, but some of his combos are just brutal and really fast.

The more time I spend playing this game, the funner it gets to me.

I love how people are hating on the game for not being enough like Street Fighter.

I got news for you, it’s not Street Fighter fucking retards. If I wanted more SF4 I have it and can play it.

I dont think the controls are sloppy…SF4 has the sloppiest inputs in a fighting game. And FYI… if you walk forward and do c. mk into what is suppose to be a hadoken… you will get a shoryuken in SF4, HDR…its even happen to me in original ST .

Ash combos? What are they? He’s part of my team

Check the Ash thread Stucky

I like the game alot. i havent been online yet so i cant comment on that but with so few characters wont we get too many mirror matches? thats usually not the case with KOFs.

Just finished unlocking all of the artwork. :woot:

How do you do it. I have played through arcade like 5 times and still havent unlocked anything.

Same here.
Did you get the trophy for beating every character on arcade mode?
I didn’t get it. :wonder:

Oh lol I’d rather see SNKP dead, All Capcom would do is give hideously done 3D graphics/art or cel-shading then put Ryu on the cover and slap it with the tag “New and Original”, I mean I love Capcom but they’re literally running on nostalgia atm
