I just said this a few posts above.
I just got this from GameStop @ apache, past tropicana (in Las Vegas) in the Wal Mart Shopping center…
unfortunately, it wasn’t 15 dollars… it was 20 :wasted:
so i just got this today and i was playing around with it a little, but i have a few questions
-
who is a good compliment for shen? I feel obligated to play him since we have the same name, and hes a pretty good from what i’ve read (he also has some pretty easy 50% life combos)
-
can someone put together a comprehensive terms list, a la dustloop has for GG? i feel like theres alot of random terminology in this i don’t understand (i.e. dream cancels, blowbacks, short jumps/mid jumps/super jumps and their differences, guard cancels…)
I second your post. I just got this game, and I’m still having some issues learning certain things in pertaining to terminology of the game. Currently, I’m using Kula(L) Kyo Iori right now, I’m a CVS2 guy so its taking alot to get used to it…but it’s fun.
I would just like an arcade to PS2 pad translation, I feel newbish for asking though.

I would suggest Gato, he’s sort of the opposite of Shen ( Uses mostly kicks ) and hes pretty easy to combo with. You could make a nice match up with them! If not, try out Ralf who can cause some sick damage just as Shen can.

Idk if I can make a list but I can explain things if that is what you are looking for.
I was lucky to find a solitary copy of FF Battle Archives 1 there. They fuckin’ suck and they’re replacing every-damn-other store. This is fucked up. Blockbuster Games in an old mall near my home was SO tight. They played games, let you try before you buy, sold anime, ALL that shit. They knew what they were talking about when they told you stuff too. Electronics Boutique was slightly below that. No try before buy, but the clerks knew their shit. Gamestop hires airhead women and guys of dubious sexuality (when they don’t look like outright geeks) who know NOTHING and seem to have nothing in their heads but toaster leavin’s and dust-bunnies.

I recommend the guide above for anyone who’s new to KOF XI or KOF games in general. It has detailed movelists as well as explanations of the game system and combo system.
Thank you. This faq is very helpful so far. I’m really enjoying this game, I only hope more would play it. It’s a shame it won’t be at Evo (outside of “casual” tournies). Good job, SNK…this game is really nice!
I’m going to rep you for that Al Bundy joke!
Seriously, all the knowledgeable places and mom and pop shops end up being bought out by these Conglom-O “WE OWN YOU” places. It sucks when you know the people and they recognize all the regulars and look out for you, but then they get replaced with airheads.
OK, so what’s the code to get M/S/P so I can beat Magaki? What the broken is goin with this dude? Glad he’s banned from tournies…right…RIGHT!!!
^ I wondered about that, whether the bosses are tourney legal, especially the PS2 exclusive characters…
All those years of playing Guilty Gear have me doing :r::r: and :l::l: in the air… its out of habit… I have to remember there is no air dashing or FRCs in this game…
I’m pretty sure Shion & Magaki are banned in tournaments since they’re not selectable in the arcade version. Probably the same goes for PS2 exclusive characters. Not sure about sub-bosses, though (Adheleid, Jyazu, Silber, etc).
For the 500th time…Gai, Hayate, Jyazu, Silber, and Adelheid are LEGAL.
So, are there any major differences between the U.S. and JPN version of KoFXI? Or it’s pretty much a carbon copy of each other (minus translation differences)?
I’ve been playing KOFXI all day, and I think it’s great so far. What really surprised me is how fluid the controls are, motions come out nice and slick, especially during Super Cancels/Dream Cancels.
I am going to Archive this…I’ve seen wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much repitition about it…
I’ve had a really good time with this. I really like the challenge mode. It brings me back to the practice mode from Street Fighter EX+Alpha. Though fighting games are all about the versus aspect, the 1 player content is still really fun. I wish more fighters would have stuff like it.
Though the last “deflect all the fireballs” mission is pissing me off.
Reflect faster each repetition. Timing is like:
Super Flash(buffer first qcb)
…reflect…reflect…reflect…reflect…reflect…reflect.reflectreflectreflect
Just do what I did, mash qcf+P and hope for the best. It might take a few tries but eventually you’ll get it.
