As a whole, MvC3 character music >>>> SSFIV Char music
However, Cody’s is still the best. Haggar’s is good, but has too much techno stuff in it for my liking.

I just liked Haggar’s more because it’s true to the ost of final fight. I recognized which level it was from when I heard it. As awesome as Cody’s theme is, I don’t know if it was a whole new song or just a re-imagination of his A3 theme which sounds nothing like the SSF4 theme.

And are you in waterloo this term leo?
Reacting to things online is harder, but in general the game is the same.
Almost every special game mechanic in AH3 has 10+ frames where you can’t do anything, giving the opponent a chance to react to you. E.g. if you guard-cancel forwards, the opponent usually has a good 20+ frames to DP you, dodge your attack, or block. It’s kind of like how 3s gives you that “parry-freeze” to react to a parry.
Naturally, the latency makes this harder, but you can still bait and counter things without relying on reactions. E.g. if you suspect someone is going to guard-cancel, you can do 1-2 hits, jump-cancel, and home-in on them again. If they guard-cancelled, they waste a bar and end up blocking again or eating a combo, and if they did nothing then your pressure continues.
To respond to something Patrick mentioned on Wednesday: online is really competitive in AH3 right now. For the last 2 nights I’ve been playing with Arturo, NerdJosh, and a bunch of other guys on the Team Spooky stream. The community right now is small (very small 'cause most people’s imports haven’t even arrived yet) but active.
Also, I found some really sick . Teleport combos are cool.
Anyway, I’d like to write a bit about teching / recovering / waking up in AH3.
SF4 - cannot recover in the air (unless you’re reset); can wake up with 2 different timings.
MvC2 / TvC - recover in the air automatically; can wake up neutral or roll left or right.
AH3 - recover (tech) in the air by pressing a button; can air tech neutral, left, or right; can wake up with up to 4 different timings; can wake up neutral, left, or right; can special-cancel some wake-up options before invincibility ends.
In AH3, you choose when you want to tech in the air, so you can choose not to be reset, as opposed to TvC where a reset into a command grab is free damage.
All techs are invincible to attacks but vulnerable to throws (so if someone tries to reset you into a command grab, you’re grabbable the moment you tech). You can throw-tech if it’s not a command grab.
When you quick-rise on the ground by holding D, you can special-cancel it as soon as your character is on their feet. This is used to quickly escape or to quickly reversal, but it loses to throws or just being hit out of your special move.
In summary, while there are specific setups that force you to wake-up into a mixup, most knockdowns leave you with a lot of options.
(You wouldn’t expect it from the game’s appearance, but AH3 has a lot of depth to it. )
ssf4 casuals today?..
i need to check this game out. it looks like a really cool game, bill.
hey guys, off topic, but I’m looking to trade my copies of
Modern warfare II, and soul calibur IV on xbox360 for the same games on PS3, if anyone is down for either of the games. holla.
ill trade you mw2
nice ian, i’ll have my 360 copy of mwII for u tomorrow at casuals. w00t
whats the button scheme for AH3?
from the way you’ve been describing it, with A B C D, etc. it sounds a lot like blazblue. Even the techs sound similar.
ew… do you actually play scII?
it feels fucking odd hearing gary playing any other fighting game but sf4 lol
I plan to bring out my AH3 setup with 1 PS3 stick tomorrow to the shop. I’ll try to get there as soon as it’s open.
5 minutes of training mode is mandatory for anyone who wants to play. Single hits don’t really do any damage, so you need to be able to do at least a simple combo like cr.A cr.B cr.C (chained) xx special xx super. Once you get the rythym of the A-B-C chain down, it’s pretty easy. Supers are all just simple motions like QCF A+B.
Awesome. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow or whenever you come out next. The sooner the better, 'cause if you miss the boat it can be tough to catch up.
The button layout is:
A B C
D - E
A/B/C are the jab/strong/fierce attack buttons, similar to BlazBlue.
D is the Homing button, which is a feature unique to AH.
E is the Arcana button, which can do both normal attacks and Arcana specials and supers that change depending on which Arcana you chose with your character.
While the button layout is similar, the game is actually nothing like BlazBlue at all.
The balance is also exceptional: all the characters are between A+ and B in the tier list.
does kira still have the same combo you taught me from AH2? lol
