Kiryu Tsukimiya is officialy the best Guy player in the world

Kiryu’s a machine, which is good and bad: good in that his execution is holy-shit-superhuman, but you watch him do the same damn things over and over again. Granted, they’re all GOOD things, but Combofiend is a bit more diverse when it comes to his Guy game.

Although it’d be a dream match if those two fought.

^^ i’d like to see them fight too. i don’t think it’s that we see kiryu do the same things over and over again… i think it’s just there’s just A SHIT TON more match footage of his guy than there is combofiend. if we saw as much footage from combofiend… we could say the same thing about him. i do wish combofiend used run stop pressure more often though… but… america isn’t patient enough to block all that runstop pressure that kiryu does.

overall i do like kiryu more than combofiend’s guy… but not by much. i just think combofiend should try and incorporate safe run stop pressure off cl. strong, cl. fierce, and TC more often.

another thing… kiryu has really unique punishes to certain matchups. like EX hurricane against dhalsim crossup teleports. i’ve seen him EX TK izuna against a honda buttslam about to come down. he also does more CH setups than i’ve seen of combofiend, like… safe jump nj. forward, walk forward a TINY bit, cl. strong for the CH, run stop, cr. jab > cl. fierce xx EX SHOULDER, rh/EX hurricane in the corner to finish it.

on the other hand i’ve seen combofiend punish the other person’s neutral jumps if they jump from really far away with fierce bushin flip. say his opponent neutral jumps from almost full screen away… as they’re coming down he’ll fierce bushin flip… they jump as soon as they land from their neutral jump to try and air to air punish him… but he’ll get the grab for the 200 damage, which then leads to the rh safe jump and continued pressure.

they both play guy VERY differently… but very effectively… but i’d take kiryu over combo just by a little bit.

Kiryu Vs gamerbee

YOKOHAMA Gamer’s VISION on USTREAM: ???.

Hmm looks like I missed it. Where can I find the recording?

Not sure if they saved the recordings, I just saw it live…pretty close matches but gamerbee took most of them just by a little.

It was 6-5 in Kiryu’s favor, I believe.

Kiryu has a way better “flow” with Guy, IMO. He makes everything look beautiful and perfect. His pressure strings are some of the most brutal shit ever done with Guy. But as far as results go, I can see that Combofiend seems to overall make better choices in his matches.

Oh, I guess I didn’t see all the matches…yea Kiryu’s Guy is really good. I felt he would have won more matches if Guy was a little better, but w/e

Same here,Kiryu is gonna be a beast when arcade version is out.

Thanks for the link. Always good to see Kiryu against good opponents. Couple questions. Can U2 punish all jaguar tooths? Which Jaguar kicks can it punish? Also when he scores a counter hit mid punch in his block string and does run stop what does he follow up with? cr. jab?

if you score a counter hit cl mp and do run/stop and I’m pretty sure you have +5 or +6 advantage I’m guessing +5

Which one’s better in that match between Guy and Adon? Ultra 1 or Ultra 2? I lean more towards Ultra 1 for some reason. To me it shuts down alot more options for Adon then Ultra 2.

i’d definitely say U2. you can punish blocked jaguar kick and jaguar tooth’s with it if they’re not spaced correctly. hopefully if the increased range on U2 stays for arcade edition… it’ll be even easier to punish those with U2 as it’ll be harder for adon to space them safely.

^Gotta agree with maestro here.

^^ me too. this is one of the very few matches i use u2

What other matches you prefer U2? Now I only use it for Adon, Dudely (Machine Gun blow) and Fei long (chicken wing)

Good dudleys will never use unsafe mgb, maybe its good for plowing through online scrub dudleys though.Fei long is interesting,I never thought of that.I’ll have to try against the next fei long I play.

Only other match to use it for certain is Abel.Supposedly you can option select U2 Abel on his wakeup?I don’t know how to do this though, anyone have any tips? That seems like too many inputs to do at once plus I suck at OS in general.

I thought about using U2 on ryu at one point after seeing combofiend.Basically you have to focus attack the fireball after Ryus cr.forward then dash forward ultra II.The thing is this has to be done at the right range(the range where cr.mk>hadouken isnt a true blockstring) and you have to have spot on execution.Dash forward and then two half circles certainly isnt easy to do in the clutch,I always get EX hozanto. The combofiend video should be in the video thread in the last couple of pages.

Kiryu uses it for every match which is interesting. He rarely lands it though.

OS for Abel.

On an KD mostly UTKD, NJ HK, MK… I’m not sure if Abel can be hit by nj hp. IIRC correctly you would buffer the motion during the attack or before the attack test it out… haven’t fought an abel player in a while :x. But Abel has nothing he can do besides Block/Hit or Ultra, If he rolls grabbed, if he EX TT Grabbed. EX CoD Grabbed,

It doesn’t work on Fei Longs chicken wing I’ve tried it on reversal and he still is able to jump out of it

Sounds good, but I believe Abel can just backdash out of this, correct? And what EXACTLY would the inputs be?
