What’s unfortunate is that people are only going to go for what they “know”. Even people who don’t play SF recognize the name “Street Fighter”, as opposed to King of Fighters. KOF never really picked up in the US at all…every arcade had SF games. Personally, I’m excited about KOFXII, its well-drawn sprites over 3-D models so (in my opinion) it looks better than SF4–I’m a fan of sprites that are hand-drawn so I’m attracted to it initially. In terms of gameplay, its hard to tell if its going to stick well but I’m willing to give it a try.
In terms of Bar fights–its really not going to work in the States since, most people just don’t care about KOF in general. There are people who are excited about it but in the big scheme of things its such a small amount of people in comparison to the entirety of people who know what Street Fighter is.
I hope the game do it good. Personally i look out for this game and i love playing KoF games.

Having XII at a bar is a great idea. Can’t think of a better way to convince people to play the game.
With a King look a like (despite not being in the game) as a bartender.
Don’t compare smash to ANY serious fighter. Smash is just a party game (Nintendo loves light-hearted/kiddie party games) that has fighting game mechanics.
KOFXII Bar Fights in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico/El Paso, Texas or any border town…this…would work.
It also could work in A.I., but we need the right people to push it. We have been tossing around an idea of having International gatherings with Top Mexican players in El Paso, Texas frequently, especially with the passing of the new passport legisature, not allowing people to cross unless they have a passport and necessary documents.
I could set something like this up, but unlike what Gootecks did, it would NOT be invite only…anyone could come, play high level players, learn, and level up. Also I dont think we should do KOFXII Bar Fights…make it KOF Bar Fights…meaning all KOFs would be played there and anyone can come soak up the level.
Let us setup something…
I am planning to go to the Brownsville, Tx/Matamoros area this year to do battle with Taekua (the KOFXI Mexican Duo Lon GodFather) and am gonna see if we can’t set up a gathering of KOF players from that area as well as bringing Kane9999 from CD. Juarez, Mexico.
If I can make all this happen you got your KOF Bar Fights Version #1 right there. People will be drinking, and there will be KOF played in all its forms. KOFXII is getting hype in Mexico as we speak, so trust me people do want to learn and play it. Also I will be going back to CD. Juarez in August sometime to unveil KOFXII, so that could be a “Bar Fight”, but who else wants to come with me? I mean we do a KOF Playoffs and thats kinda like our Bar Fights…they are Ranking Battles…KOFXII would just be added.

I know this is all the way back on page 1, but a funny story about this guy:
Couple weeks ago, my buddy made [media=youtube]bYg8pDq7F7o[/media], with the joking instruction in the description to ‘watch it all the way to the end’… snkfiend did exactly as instructed, and angrily PMed my buddy for wasting eight minutes of his precious time. Dumb as a brick.
This would be a very bad idea, alot of KOF players have bad tempers. It would ultimately end with someone calling up there “homies” then real fist fighting would ensue. But then again everyone would be kung fu fighting which could be awsome. Perhaps it could be held at the karate pub in south ontario lol.
