Yea man, Lin and his fellow assassins are definitely some of my favorite designs. They did some crazy stuff with all three animation wise. I’m especially fond of the disintegration effect both Ron, and Duo Lon share in their attacks, which are aided by these after image eye-feast. Seriously, this shit is crazy.

I liked that the KoF sprites had realistic body proportions and weren’t unnecessarily cartoony or exaggerated. I guess KoF XII will put an end to that style, looking at Ralf and Athena. Too bad.

Yeah, that post was made before I had played KoFXI. Wasn’t it in K’ Team ending they mentioned something about her still being alive… dood.

I dont know about his stages but here he is.
While I’m always the SF fan, I’ve grown to love KoF just for it’s sprite work. While the SF2-> SF2T’s sprite addtions such as Ryu’s F.HP seemed out of place in light of the older sprites, KOF seems to do better in meshing the old with the new especially when it came to the post 98 series.
We remember Kyo having a new outfit which was a change to his old, however what I found great was the evolution of his new DM which seemed a bit over indulgent into something that seemed more rationale and cool looking:

Iori also had a change from cumbersome recycling of old sprites in 2k into redrawn straight out of an anime sequences in 2K1 onwards:

It’s that same minimal but full of effort incremental improvements that always sort of impresses me about SNK. It’s like a proper tease but worth it sometimes much like one of my fav characters Krizalid went from sort of cool looking to even more cool looking with the simple addition of more pom poms and another trenchcoat:

It’s not all consistent though. While SNK seems to want to show that their games are relavent by giving us some instances of smooth SMOOTH animation, Sometimes it looks out of place with the often janky and limited in comparison sprites we’ve come to know. You’ve see Kim’s leg cuffs of hypnotism but one that always catches my eye was Real Kyo 99’s intro.
