Even if you kept the shittyness of what we are seeing in the trailers so far, I have one casting choice that would get everyone in this thread to see the movie regardless: Tony Jaa as Joe Higashi. Tell me that would not be awesome. You wouldn’t even need special effects for the fire and shit coming out of his feet for moves like Tiger Kick etc, Tony Jaa can do that shit.

Honestly, I can deal with the fact that the movie is probably going to be shitty. That much was expected. But the fact that Mai doesn’t have huge, huge boobies is straight up blasphemy.
JCVD SF was good because even though characters didnt follow storyline too closely (shotos, gief, deejay, rog, etc) at least most of them did and they actually looked like their characters

The worst part of this movie is that a good amount of the producers and the companies producing it are in fact, Asian. Fucking sell outs I say. While they were so intent on casting Kyo as a white guy in an attempt to appeal to whiter America, they totally neglected the fact that Terry is clearly the most popular KOF character in America. By turning him into the bastard child of Marty McFly and Biff Tannen, they’ve lost a lot of the potential appeal they might have had.
It’s pretty tragic when you have a lot of these fighting games and anime with good source material and a built in fanbase that pretty much sells itself. You always have Hollywood big rigs who end up taking that fanbase for granted thinking that they’ll buy this shit no matter what they do. A little change here, and a little change there and your product ends up losing the main source of appeal that it had on its fanbase, thinking that attaching a talented action director will automatically make their shit gold. (here’s news for you, it didn’t work for DOA, and it won’t work for KOF)
The most successful video game movies all have had various levels of diversion from source material, but they always maintained and took into consideration whatever the source had that appealed to its fanbase. For example, here are arguably the 3 most successful video game movie franchises and what each series had that appealed to its fanbase
Mortal Kombat: Tournament to the death battles between earthrealm and outer world led by a strong hero (who was clearly asian. We didn’t need to cast Val Kilmer as Liu Kang here). Check. Sexy girls who can fight. Check.
Tomb Raider: Hot athletic girl with guns searches for treasure. All there. Done
Resident Evil: Virus outbreak causes people shooting zombies that pop out of nowhere in holy shit scary moments causing you to shit your pants. Done.
