KING OF FIGHTERS 98 ULTIMATE MATCH gaming getogether at Nate's! (July 19?)

I’m thinking Thursday after work. It’ll give me a reason to actually get shit done Wed & Thurs.

Thursday works for me too!

If I could get there I’d probably wanna go. Unless I made plans and forgot about them…

EDIT: And I believe I did do just that, actually.

Hey, I’m not far from where you guys are. If possible I’d like to get in on this.

Well say Thursday at 7:00 PM. I’ll post up here if I’m going to be late. Oh, and I don’t actually have 98UM so either Vince or Nate will need to bring it. I do have XI for PS2(US) and a NeoGeo with 2K2 in it (shitty sticks).

Alright I’ll bring mine.

And mine

And my axe…

Alright, I should be home right around 7:00. I doing a quick run to the packie to get some booze, so I might be a few minutes late. My roommates know people are coming so it’s cool if you get there before me.

I’m home now. People can head over whenever.

GGs everyone.

Mexican Supreme too strong. Yea Clark is a good verb. I like the Idea of Clark being a Verb.

D!'s Ground pound move left the biggest lasting impression tho. Reaches so high up.

Good Yama BTW Nate. Yama always causes me grieve. It’s like a Wall. That can’t be thrown.

Good shit guys. Watch out for that dynamite swing. LOL

anyone wanna play at my place Saturday? Sytha? Uwe? Gojira? Mandel? anyone else?

I know this is lazy, but any good clark vids out there for me to study? I am going to order this game when I get home.

i havent come accross alot of Clark vids, but then again i know there are some Tijuana matches i havent scoured as diligently as i should. And Clark is a verb.

Since this is officially announced at Random Select, somebody (Nate/XTG/Alaskan) better hold sessions for this game. Otherwise I’ll save my money and enter something else.

I’ll look. But clark is really basic to play…

HH CD for general space control poke.

Cr.C also works really as a poke. As well as run up cr.D(sweep)

look for things to hcf+k and the qcf+p follow up. Once you get that your mixup is pretty basic

you can

Wait, hcf+k, follow up repeat.

hh a, st.C 1 hit grab or super grab

cr.b super grab

or dp+d to catch the reversal move you think they are going to do. If you get another knockdown rinse repeat. If you mess up just work your way back in and wait for things to grab.

Anti-air
st.d for things far away
st.a can beat hyper hops
cr.C can also work
napalm stretch can work if you predict a little
CD can also work with a little prediction

Reversals, comand grab, or command grab super… thats it.

this video shows some good clark poking even though he can’t get past benimaru’s counter pokes.

uses alot of jump Back d for anti-air and poking! never seen that before but it worked well. Lots of cr.D poking for the knockdown.

thread title updated!

I can go, if Nate will PM me some directions.

I have a question…seeing as how the US version of 98UM doesn’t come out till Feb 2009, does anyone know if the slim PS2’s can be modded? I’d be interested in setting that up with the quickness.

Also…looking in my DC games I see KOF Dream Match 99, which was the Dreamcast port of 98. Minus the new characters of the recent remake, of course. Is the gameplay similar? Might be a stupid question but a man too lazy to Google has to know.

July 12th huh? I really wish I didn’t live 349583049850934 miles away from Seattle.
