My friend has a KOF98 cabinet in his house that I have played on a lot, and I personally own KOF98 (dream match 99) for DC. Feels completely the same to me. Dreamcast port is good.

umm… yeah, i definitely thought that DM99 was a sluggish piece of ass, so hard, that i didn’t even realize they were the same game… i thought it LOOKED familiar, but the game felt so different.

That’s true. I tell everyone if they want to play 100% the MVS games, better buy the board and the games, bcuz all console ports are defective and even the best PC emulators out there (like MAME for example) don’t emulates it absolutely 100% but I think emulators are the best choice to play the games if you don’t have money, console ports comes in 2nd.
how can MAME not be exactly 100%? its the exact same rom they run in the arcade. like original street fighter 2 for example, u can actually do the handcuffs and touch of death. i don’t think it gets any more 100% then that.
Just looking for the game it gives you the impression of 100% perfect MVS game. Try to play a game at a high level and you will notice many issues, most of them relationed to controls. Rengoku can explain it better.
Trust me dude check out the www.mameworld.net and youll find out that NEOGEO emulation its pretty much 100% and has been emulated correctly for some time now.
I myself own a SNK Neo-Geo MVS especially to play The King Of Fighters '98.
MAME does feel different depending on your computer setup.
I used to prefer NeoRAGEx, it seems there is a version 5 out there.
The same software and hardware emulation is just not the same.
At times it can be perfect but most of the time it is not.
Do the characters on any other console look smaller?
If it is not so it is just in my head that it is so,
for a lot of video games.
Is there a release date yet for the Sony PlayStation 2 version,
or a pre-order date?

uhh it’s pretty damn well-known that emulation for most fighting games isn’t 100% perfect, usually due to input reading and the speed the games run at. the people who maintain mame probably don’t even know enough about the games to recognize these problems.
