It’s kind of boring without strikers imo. There are some cool characters in 2k but I’d pick 98 over no-striker 2000 any day.

Well… KOF98 is my favorite KOF of all time… I think it’s my favorite GAME of all time.

…and Ramon, Vanessa & MAYBE Leona.

to beat bao you really have to bait those striker calls. bao doesn’t do hella damage without seth (his bnb is like low C f+A qcb+C and you’re not gonna get hit by that incredibly frequently.

If you bait his seth’s out and leave him without a striker he’s not nearly as scary. yes it’s hard work. but that’s the game. Everybody has bullshit tactics you need to learn to deal with.

Vanessa is good in this game but I wouldnt say top at all…

Ryo striker and Joe yes equal sick comboes…but Vanessa is not top tier in 2000…Shes very good…but not tops.

I have to agree with the thread; Another Iori and Seth are probably the best two Strikers in the game. I often use Ryo, though. Although it sounds stupid, randomly using Ryo in the middle of something or nothing can throw an opponent off (I’m fortunate in that it happens with me all the time). There’s also the fact that I play Kyo, and Kyo + Ryo = [media=youtube]RK4a0unkcOM[/media].

Ryo, like Joe, can hit the enemy on the ground. Used with a few key characters, this is terribly effective.

Vanessa is def top. She’s easy to use. Does fuck tons of damage, is fast as hell and can setup an infinite on anyone standing and some people crouching…

Ya Vanessa should at least get a spot for being able to give Chang a hard time with the inf.

But where on the top list…Shes probably towards the end… I mean though if you wanna narrow it down to about 4 people for top tier would Vanessa make the cut???/

Im starting to get into KoF 2k and I would really like to know how to play K’. Got a couple of questions:

  1. Which strikers are best suited for K’? (havent made a team yet but lets just stick with K’ on his own for now)

  2. Anyone know any striker combos with Another Iori? I was trying out:

Midscreen:
j.A, st.C (1 hit), f + B, striker (2 hits), then try and connect his qcf hcb + A/C super. But I only get one hit. Is there a way to connect that super midscreen with Another Iori?

  1. Could someone list some combos with a couple of strikers? Some basic some flashy

  1. A.Iori is overall the best striker for K’. He has a teleport with qcf+K, so you can use that + call A.Iori fast speed and reach across the screen to do crossups. His f+B overhead can be comboed into A.Iori easily from anywhere. Seth is also OK but A.Iori plays to K’s strengths.

  2. First, close C,f+B into qcb+K will whiff on a lot of crouchers. Close C,f+A xx qcb+B is better. Second, no ranbu-type supers connect from A.Iori, in fact most strikers don’t allow them to connect normally. Seth is one who does, along with a couple others like Syo. But even in this situation it doesn’t matter because K’s qcf,hcb+P super doesn’t connect against someone in the air no matter what.

As for that combo, it’s OK, but if you look at it, you’re just using your striker for some additional damage/ease of execution in a place where you’re getting damage anyway. For example, you can do his qcfx2+P super there, but you could also just do close C f+A super or something and save your striker.

  1. Basically K’s combo options off a striker are either qcfx2+P super, or stand CD canceled into qcb+B or qcf+P for meter. The stand CD actually does quite a lot.

Good ways of landing A.Iori with K’ are:

  • qcf+K tele, call A.Iori (crossup)
  • f+B (overhead), call A.Iori (combos)
  • dp+C blocked, call A.Iori when you pass over them
  • qcf+P,f+D pressure in corner (it’s frame advantage on block), if you see them roll, call A.Iori

Note that you can always call a striker during a normal or special move, as mentioned in the last two examples above. Also, the generic striker call pose you make when calling them on the ground without doing anything is invincible on startup, but has vulnerable recovery.

Remember that there are a ton of ways to land a striker other than just doing some basic combo into them. If you are already getting damage, make sure the extra damage is worth calling them out, like for example Kyo doing C rekkas, calling A.Iori and landing Orochinagi. Strikers are really valuable to get damage in situations where you normally won’t, like off an overhead, from a teleport, from the recovery of a punishable special move, etc.

what about hinako? is she okay with A.iori or would it still be wiser to use joe for her?

I wish leona didn’t have the stupid looking run in this game : ( is she still viable? I’ve only seen her a couple of times.

She has some really good combos with Joe in the corner, so it would be best to use her with Joe if the rest of your team is also good with Joe. If they are stronger with A.Iori, then I wouldn’t pick Joe just to use him with Hinako. K’ can’t do shit with Joe.

Hinako + Joe corner combo:

cr.B,cr.B,st.B,f+B, st.B,d/f+A (1 hit) xx qcb+P, call Joe, cr.B,cr.B,st.B,f+B, st.B,d/f+A xx hcfx2+K

You can also start with a jump-in and then do 1 cr.B instead of 2 after calling Joe. This combo does 100% damage.

EDIT nevermind this combo also works midscreen, you just have to jump over them.

Is the hcfx2 after the df+a pretty easy? I have problems alot of times doing light attacks into double hcf or hcb.

Yea it’s pretty easy, both his of d/f+A takes a long time, gives a lot of time to buffer and do it slow.

As for Leona she is pretty awesome with A.Iori because she can u/f+C instant overhead into him, then either vslasher or the qcfx2+P super. She can also always add an additional juggle if her earring hits, so super etc. is always guaranteed.

With this combo the after the f+b,st.b the d/f+a always whiffs for me?

Edit: Nvm the trick is after the f+b you have to link so you don’t get another f+b… misunderstood.

Wait is that an infinite? as in, st.b f+b~st.b,f+b? Edit somemore: hmm maybe not, looks like I only got like 3 reps…

Quick sive of this thread and I didnt find much on Terry. My current team is as follows:

K’, Terry, Jhun, Another Iori.

Needs some tips with Terry and Another Iori as the striker though I have a feeling they dont really go well together lol. I was mucking around in training mode and came up with this combo cos I was bored:

Terry: cr.B, st.B, dp+B (1 hit) [Striker], Power Geyser / Burning Knuckle

With Terry, do f+A overhead into A.Iori, then qcb+C or power geyser. You can also do qcb+D against a croucher close up, cross over them and call A.Iori that way.
