No no no, I’m way ahead of you there I love the engrish voice acting, but some characters need it. For instance Rufus from SF4 sounded way better in true english than his Jap voice actor (IMO). I just want to change some. But no believe me I’m with you on some like Terry, his Jap voice actor will forever whoop any American one.

…wait is that a character specific theme? I think it iiiiis. The Yagami team has always had Jazzy themes (Cool Jam, Arashi no Saxophone 1 and 2). That’s awesome (if it’s true)! I know the song was playing even before the match, but I still hear Mature fighting in the background anyway. And I noticed that when the match ends that songs ends.
how’s the hype for this game in japan? since sbo might pick it up, im hoping it’ll get popular.
Quick question: Is there anything special about Ryo? I mean, he’s a stripped down shoto that has nothing that Kyo and Robert don’t all ready have, plus even more useful moves. Is there any reason to use Ryo at all?
? What kinda of question is that? That’s like saying “Well Chin is an odder character to use and has no projectiles so is there any point in using him?” There’s no real POINT to use any character, you just play with characters you enjoy. Are you one of those guys who play Street Fighter games only as Akuma, Ryu, Ken, or Sagat?
Being awesome is one thing. Still has his parry shenanigans, a projectile and ranbu super for a few things i can think of. Im sure others can bring up better points than I can.
He represents a more solid, hard hitting Kyokugenryu character. Instead of relying one long range projectiles like Robert and Kyo (which doesn’t make them gods bud) he relies on quicker in your face moves. And like phoenix said he has his parrys and if they add more of the moves he’s missing (which I hope they do) he can get around moves with his jumping chop and can take damage negating it and counter with his back stepping punch.

His parry-like command moves in XII where unique in that he could pretty much move through anything thrown at him. Parry the fireballs, parry a combo, parry a CD attack, high or low hits, it you could react properly, it made it so his ability to absorb and retaliate was quite strong.
Unlike Robert or Takuma, he doesn’t require charging on his Hien Shippu Kyaku. This makes it a bit easier for him to react with it, while maintaining momentum.
Over the years, he’s also been one of the only characters with a “utility” super, that left the opponent stunned/dizzy, rather than doing loads of damage, allowing for the follow-ups of your choice. The times I’ve preferred him, are the games where he has strong defensive abilities, such as when he has auto-block on the start up of his moves. To me, this is when he is at his strongest, most original, and most fun!
I thought you were talking to me for a sec there, I have been posting alot ^_^"
I didn’t know. Thanks dude.

-cr.b, cr.b, st.a xx b hienshippukyaku
-great cr.c
-meaty st.CD xx koken
-j.CD
-far st.b and far st.d were good in past iterations, forgot if he had those in XII
-f.a overhead, especially when delay-canceled from moves such as close st.C and close st.d
-sweep xx f.b/df.b/koken; mostly safe
That’s just from the top of my head

Double Post by accident
On another note, we’ve seen Kyo do his back dash canceled into his j.2C like in past games. Does Mai have j.2A and could she do the same thing? How about Athena and her j.2B as well with Iori and j.4B?
IIRC anyone who has an aerial command normal can do that. I recall Iori and Athena players doing it in OG 2002. From what I remember/was told that it was a really fast way to retreat from your enemy.

What I meant is that if they have it for KOFXIII. Most probably they would but I haven’t “seen it to believe it.” Of course, I use it all the time when I play 98 on GGPO.
I don’t play much Takuma, but Mr. Karate at least in SvC’s Hien Shippu launches on hit and you can follow-up so it makes sense to make it chargeable. Also the HK version is safe to an extent since it goes past the enemy; Ryo’s is usually unsafe no matter what strength you use it at. Robert and Takuma also have fullscreen fireballs (although some can duck them mind you).
There’s some other stuff, but overall I think Alexander brought up a valid point in that while Ryo is different is several ways, he is somewhat redundant in a sense as well.
Give us the real Mr. Karate back!

If Kyo can do backdash~d+C then I’d bet everyone else who has their command air normals can do it too. Athena doesn’t have her old one anymore as far as I know. Robert has that new B+D cross up that’s like Iori’s, maybe he can do it now.
I won’t put any faith in the loketest players to know about that.shrug
Wasn’t Takuma in the 360 game data for KOF XII?
That would strongly imply that he’s the one, wouldnt it…
