I’ve been playing Kof2k2 on emulator with that setup for the past few weeks to get used to that layout.
Me and Giby should be there around opening at 1pm. So anywhere between 1pm to 2pm would probably be the best time to meet. We will be there most of the day.

Kane, Noc and I should be there and 1-2 in the afternoon.
On the ride back from Evo, Noc, Oscar and I discussed having ranbats and getting this game hyped up so more people would get into it. Holding the ranbats for free would be perfect as many gamers who aren’t familiar with KOF wouldn’t want to pay to lose. This should slowly allow them to get the feel for the game or they’ll begin to play casuals with the Reynald, MR KF and the rest of the AI crew. Noc told me that several of the Mexican players were playing it when he was there, which is a good sign seeing as the majority of Mexican players hated XII to death.I don’t know anything about the local Chinese players, but if it plays as much as older KF’s as I hear, then I’m sure they’ll be into it as well.
After holding ranbats for a few weeks, a transition to legit tourney’s can be done, where people actually have to pay to get in, and by then they shouldn’t mind, as long as they’ve been playing the game. If FFA or Denjin gets the game that will help even more. The more exposure the game gets the better. The two deciding factors on whether or not this game will be a hit with the fighting game community will be infins and online play once it hits consoles). For some stupid reason, if a KF game has a few infinites, the game is broken, but Marvel, a game which is flooded with them is a damn good game. I’m not trying to knock Marvel, I just find the double standard pretty stupid.
IMO the ultimate goal for this game is to get it into Evo next year, and the only way it can be done is if the community can actually unify and support this game, just like the Melty Blood community did with Actress Again. This has to start with us, the AI crew, SoCalSNK crew, whatever people want to call us, we just have to get shit done.

ppl can just ban the infinities… i cant understand why ppl should play like this, if u go to a 97tourney in China they ban all the game’s bugs/infinities … MVC2 is just a circus, dont take me wrong,i know that in the US this game is a hit but to me it’s just a boring circus…anyway in my opinion in ANY kof game all the infinities/bugs should be BANNED …
Sorry my mistake there, it is indeed the way you mention. Sorry, it slip though my though, but you got the general idea of what I meant.
Regarding to the tutorial Giby is saying, it would be nice if Dandy J would finish his KOF tutorial, I found it really good, but maybe a more simple one would work better for that purpose.
:sad::sad::sad:
We’ve come so far.
I couldn’t have to said it better myself. This is the time to really start pushing the one game that has the potential to make it to EVO and to finally start a solid scene for SNK in general. Everyone just has to lend a hand and eventually it will come together nicely.
I am totally down for ranbats. Anything to get this game noticed. If fucking Melty Blood can be at EVO I think KoF has a chance as well.
man that’s awesome how u guys wanna do things like this to help the community I’ve never played any kof before this one, and it would help out a lot I was at AI Friday and Sunday for a good amount of time and I’m slowly starting to understand certain subtle game play things meanwhile getting worked lol so things like this i think would help alot
I wish you guys luck in Cali and really the whole west coast. Hopefully hype will actually spread across the US. I know there’s a few people already secretly hyped for XIII over here in Maryland but anywhere else on the east coast? Wouldn’t know.
To have this at EVO next year would only increase my want to attend as I don’t want MvC3 and SSF4 being the 2 big entry highlights while the side tournies take up most of my gaming time.
So the arcade version does not allow you switch layouts?

Really appreciate all the vids and info guys, thanks a lot.
Best of luck to Giby, Noc and whoever is else is or will be involved with the effort to push this game. I would love to help but I’m in friggin Canada so yeah. Nonetheless, if I can help with any thing then please let me know. I can do some art and also help out financially (I’m nowhere near loaded so don’t expect too much hehe).
Dunno if it has been posted yet but a suggestion I would like to make, once the console port is released, is to host tourneys and broadcast them live via the net, like Team Spooky does with SF4. This would be an excellent way to expose the game.
Oh and you guys should come up with a name for yourselves, hopefully something universal instead of just east or west coast or whatever you guys have there.

good q vids kane, but the level of play was some of the lowest ive seen yet. thats a shame actually. i didnt watch them all because of that, are there any worthwhile vids with good matches?
arcade version lets your switch layouts but the documentation for the button setup is kinda bad, and o ndont think ken has the right I/O board for it right now.
as for a free tournament, i dont know if we can get THAT many people, running a 64-man bracket on one cab is going to take forever…
True. more about exposure than anything really. Whatever you can pull off feasibly, then go with that I would figure
Don’t hesitate to ask anything. If there’s something you saw, and you don’t quite understand how he did it, I’m the one manning the camera most of the times just ask me or one of the regulars (no such thing as a dumb question).
I’m afraid the level is going to be low for quite some time, plenty of ppl are getting used to the game and it’s going to be probably like this for 2-3 weeks before it picks up (Only 1 cab + LONG queue-9+ ppl on average between turns, I think on the first day of being there for 6-7hr we only got 45mins of game time each + Local champ who beats you down = hard to get any practice. It makes it even harder to adjust coz your turnd are so infrequent).
A lot of times we look like complete noobs but we’re not that bad if we play anyone other than Mr Kof.
My intention is I’m going to stop recording matches soon, until the level of gameplay gets higher (the first to days were just to get some clips out to expose the game for AI’s sake and attract new players and show some variety in chars).
I think videos are pretty interesting, even the level is not super pro. You are getting use the game, I’m sure it’s a bit complex and everybody need time to learn impressive combos, timings and all this stuff. And everybody here should know and understand this…
I’m just missing some characters that haven’t appeared at any vid yet…

You can learn alot about move properties, potential B&Bs, and overall application of tactics, even from “low level” play. For example, even through the HK players of the Loke’s where so good, how many times did we see anyone use Maxima’s EX’s properly? Did anyone in those vids manage to show us that regual Vapor Cannon has autoguard? And none of those guys even bothered to combo into Neomax off normals, or without cancelling. (Andy landing Neomax off Breaking Kuuhadan was delicious.)
This game seems like it does a solid job of looking interesting at almost all levels of play. And the fact that even the GOOD players have moves that they just AREN’T using for many characters, makes it nice to see people without a stubborn, stagnant gameplan playing.
I feel better already =) Heh. Make no mistake, emil, mc187, our vids aren’t being posted coz we’re saying “we’ll pwN ne1! we’re da best” (although I suppose with a moniker Mr Kof that doesn’t help either heh)! Also, while uploading the vids even I was getting bored watching some, but I think SAB did hit some real good points. Bottomline, we’re trying to get AI to stay afloat.
