I’ve had that thought for awhile now. Instead of having to do things the right/long/slow way, Ash just goes out on his own and does it the way he feels best no matter how others feel about it. Having Ash give his life and have him return the sacred treasures seems to be one of the few ways Ash could leave the story without returning having to be teamed with people he doesn’t care for.

You know what? I think Chin will die, leading to the Dragon Spirit saga. Ron is interested in that power to control the death, maybe Misty (the lover of Igniz), joined Ron to use Ron power to revive Igniz and continue with NEST ideal?
They need to start this Dragon Spirit Saga, unless they plan to conclude it also in KOF13 somehow.

Nah, the entire concept behind the Kim team is that he’s helping to rehabilitate people by force. Yamazaki, story-wise, would be on par with Kim, if not stronger, while Chang and Choi were definitively weaker. I’m expecting one of Kim’s sleeker former team members, like Jhun or possibly even May Lee to come back, rather than Chin or Choi or fitting the square peg in the circular hole with a Yamazaki or a Rin.

Yeah, no way Yamazaki teams up with Kim unless he’s paid. Speaking of May Lee, I’d love to see her come back with Chang and Choi in her team, her story could be something like Kim being busy reforming his own team so May Lee gets to take care of the other two as a form of practice

Apparently, she’s not popular enough due to backlash to her replacing King in 2002.

She’s also an Eolith design- and Eolith designs tend to be avoided by SNK (with the exception of their dating sims, and 2K2UM)

The Drunken Boxing reference could be a reference to either something new for Chin, or Hwa Jai.

I was never too fond of May Lee’s play style, but I guess everyone has fans.

She certainly has fans amongs frogs, being their superhero

Good shit as always Rexx

Wish KOF in America was more accepted and supported. One can hope and dream though.

Where’s the CC Counter infinite FTW, Athena? I also wonder if they removed that in KOF XIII

That’s not true.

and many others like these simply reuse existing attacks, taunts, and win poses.

Just have to be smart about the frame usage.

We aren’t stupid. We know darn well how much time and effort goes into making sprites. That’s why we buy these games.

However, it doesn’t matter. If something is necessary for the game’s appeal, then it’s necessary.

And, I believe it’s necessary. Maybe not for the hardcore players who only care about frame data, but to the less hardcore (a.k.a. the people who make games successful), then yeah the devil is in the details. A solid engine will only go so far for the casual/intermediate audience.

These characters are all very interesting. Show that. Show that to the people who haven’t been playing KOF for years. We need those people now more than ever.

most of the American money’s been sold already on Mai. That’s all the casual fan wanted anyway. Otherwise, i’m sure the casual american crowd wouldn’t make the special intros a buy/not buy decision. They’ll think it’s cool but it’s not a highlight. If people want to see the interesting appeal of the intros, we have all the way from 94-XI to look at. It’s not like all the past games are hard to find (98 UM on PSN and XBLA. XI can be found cheap anywhere.) If people are that interested, we got more than enough SNK games out with special intros to go around.

No, “we” don’t.

People are now complaining for the sake of complaining. Whining about minor characters like Vanessa, Oswald, Yamazaki (who were in a handful of KOFs)? Complaining about intros?

Just say you’re not going to buy the game or that you’re going to pirate it and be done with it, because none of those are valid reasons to whine for page after page.

Yeah, but this doesn’t apply to KoF13 does it? In the series that kind of “mugen” intro are the minority, and it’s not like they can make most intros/taunts recycling animations from normal attacks.

Thanks ReXXXSoprano!

Man, Athena looks like so much fun to play again.

You’re actually just re-enforcing what I said. Yeah, attack animations and such can be reused, they’re very versetile. But it’s the other parts, such as the taunts, the unique elements that would be created like I listed in the post you quoted… THOSE would have to be made from scratch, as XII and XIII (so far) show no priority towards those things.

If they add enough taunts, intro poses, lose poses, and unique voice samples in order to make intros, then that’d be great. But it’s THOSE elements that would be taking time from OTHER things that have MORE applications.

And we’ll have text/portrait intros + Varying ending portraits to show that. You can (ALMOST!) take the place of the elements you mention with hand drawn artwork. SNKP so far, shows to be doing that. But you can’t do that with in fight stuff. (Or you wouldn’t necessairly WANT to. Let us say it’s less likely).

No one who talks about these things is disagreeing much. We wanna see these fun elements, in full pixel art. Some of us just know/accept it WOULD hurt the gameplay, the creation of moves, and the addition of characters. It’s not a “well, they could just work harder!” situation. Heck, they probably already ARE, with all the normals and stuff they’re adding along with characters and specials.

It’s interesting to think about the fact that every time they add stuff to OLD characters, they’re raising the standards on what’s expected of the new ones. Average number of frames increases, expected amount of winposes, if the character has a taunt, how many DMs, their “loss by time out” poses… what a situation. That’s why my initial concerns are over a loss of quality as they try to pad the game out, and not the lack or specific content. I’d much rather all characters keep 1 good, well animated, feast-for-the-eyes winpose, than to watch them get a slew of 2 frame winposes, or something like that. In orders of priority, Quality of elements should beat Quantity, every time!

Now onto the Vid: Note in ReXXX’x vid, we at least see one new kick normal for Raiden, and a new “Hand on head” time out loss. Might be more new stuff, but that’s what I noticed. Anyhone see anything else of note that hasn’t been in other vids?

Hope we see a few more vids from past loketest, before the next one. Really wanna know what we’ll see at that one!

For the new loke test, I’m hoping for just one direct feed video.

And maybe a new character. I just need to see one.

I’m easy to please.
