I understand you completely, I loved KOF12 system, but KOF12 is slower than most KOFs and the system makes perfect sense for it. KOF13 is way faster and I think the system wouldn’t work that well in it. Still I have to say that KOF12 did the best way to activate a custom combo in a fighting game. Not like that overpowered A-Groove in CvsSNK2.
Stop bringing 12 up. Shit is done and buried.

I’m tired of people lamenting over that aborted fetus to the point that it obstructs their view of the future. Every time someone brings that shit up in this thread, it creates that feeling of doubt. Doubt that KOF, as we know it, could still be here in the future.
If you want to talk about 12, please do it in the respective threads.
Long story short: If it’s not in this game, leave it in the past for now.

We were just discussing what and why the system of 12 couldn’t or could work with KOF13. What is wrong with that? If everytime you see the word KOF12 gets you all mad, then it must sucks to be you, but we can basically talk of whatever we want. If you don’t like to read anything about KOF12 you have the option to NOT READ. That simple, so can you let us discuss KOF12 and 13 now?

People seem to be acting like if you want intros and more win poses then you’re being a spoiled brat who doesn’t understand the time it takes to make animations… It’s not really true at all… I understand how painstaking it was to make the new sprites and all their animations and whatnot but I would just think it’d be cool if extra work was put in. That said, this isn’t a deal breaker for me in buying a fighting game ESPECIALLY a King of Fighters game cuz I’ll stick with them thick and thin!!!
And btw I LOVED XII too, Kage! Don’t worry if you practiced getting critical counter combos perfect because I’m pretty sure in Hyper Drive mode you can pull off some of the same exact combos from CC but just faster!
One last thing, does anyone have a link to a (human) translated blog entry by any chance?
It didn’t work. Obviously if it did, it would still be there. It didn’t so it’s not. And KOF 12 should get you pissed more than me because it damn near killed the series from a money and gameplay standpoint.

In present day affairs, I’m actually torn between wanting someone to rip this like they did BBCS so we can play it at home early but I don’t want this game to fall into that piracy thing. They need as much money as they can get right now…
But if it did get ripped, I’d actually be inclined to help teach new people how to play. Getting tired of people being lazy saying that KOF is one of the games they always wanted to play but never had the time or had a teacher.

I’m one of KOFXII’s bigger defenders…but this doesn’t change the fact that things like opening/win poses and pre-battle character interaction are glaring omissions from a fighting game’s presentation, and for a game whose main selling point was its graphics and presentation…it is, at the very least, worth mentioning.

nice. I haven’t looked at MMcafe in years. Interesting to see someone’s getting killed off. Though in a fighting game, i’d take that with a grain of salt.

Yamazaki could perfectly fit in Kim team as Kim trying to make him good but failing in the end. That would be a funny ending to see.
Vanessa or Whip could also fit nicely with K and Kula, but instead we got Maxima it seems. =/
Pretty much. A 5-frame winpose = a punch, a kick, or even a simpler special move. Now, multiply that by 33 characters. Then do the same for intros. Then taunts.
You would have the 450-500 frames for one extra character (hell, you could animate two bosses). Or you could exclude the winposes/intros/taunts and make sure Clark got one new move, Mature got 3, Liz got one, Terry got one (Buster Wolf, anyone?), Athena got her teleport… You know, adress the complains people actually had last time.

We aren’t even sure that the surprise ending means someone’ll die. For all we know, it could be a setup where it turns out that someone who we know but didn’t suspect is actually behind those from the past.
Never thought of it that way. It’ll be interesting either way.

Or it could be something that seems surprising at first, but is contrived in the end. Like say, having Ash steal Kyo’s powers only to use it to beat Dark Ash or whoever the final big bad is, then promptly return those powers to Kyo, Iori and Chizuru.
