In this day and age with DLC and the like, I don’t think yearly releases would be reasonable. The last thing I would want is to devote a lot of time and effort learning and incrementally getting good at a game only to find out that a lot of it is for naught since a new version of the game is coming out.
It can qualify as a tourney game but if nobody is gonna turn out for them, then why would the tourney organizers hold them. Its in a sense the community’s job to try and boost turnouts to keep it alive while Ignition keeps making SNKP work on the game.
This is probably the best statement here. There has never been an official KOF tournament hosted at evo. Also for some reason SBO doesn’t have KOF this year either. Hopefully we get it going next year, it’s great SRK opened up a KOF section of the forums. It’s time for the SNK fans to promote a good series. Lets hope the patches for this game come out soon.
If SBO does get kof next year, it will probably be kof2k2UM.
I feel kof12 was very rushed…it’s like they noticed there were so many sprites they had to create for so many moves that they just decided to axe most character’s movelists, very lazy way to go about it. I don’t feel the game has much depth.
u haven’t even played the game emil >.>
So less moves = less depth? You really dont understand how fighters engines work.
Yeah but I’ve studied high level matches…just playing the game for the first time (or even two weeks, especially against low level comp like XBL/PSN) isn’t going to give you an accurate idea of whether the game is really good or not.
In this particular game, the less moves results in less depth. I’m not even talking about specials and supers…the fact that so many characters have the same far C’s and D’s as their close C’s and D’s, further illustrates their laziness.
Emil…there hasn’t been Truly any high level matches. The game is too young. And no, vids from japan doesn’t automatically make it High Level, and u said it yourself that playing for a week or two doesn’t’ give a good idea, what makes only watching vids any better? Isn’t it smarter to actually play the game and study matches before you make judgement calls?
And this thread was going so well…T_T
The actual gameplay and stuff that REALLY matters is excellent. It reminds me of MOTW, which I consider by far the best SNK fighting game. The game has good character balance, nice graphics (even if pixilated on large screens), and dynamic, fun gameplay.
Also if you wanna see the game played best IMO you wanna look up Japanese matches. Americans play the game too much like SF in general.
There isn’t enough interest in my area for tournaments but I’ll bring it to tournies and set up casual station of it anyway, did that once already.
less moves doesnt mean less depth, yet it means less otipons, that could lead or not to more depth (not saying that kof12 isnt depth)
Break it down for me. I wanna know cause right now your just talking out your ass so far.
what he said
Also emil, a lot of the characters far Cs and Ds were made into Command moves
The number of moves is irrelevant. The number of USEFUL moves is though.
Sadly I admit the butchered move list hurts character depth a lot. Part of me wishes instead of new DLC they should create an update with new moves for the existing characters. I think I am wishing too much though…
He has super natural powers:wow:
Don’t tell anyone though.:nono:
Very true but Ralph losing his command grab for sub par attacks is just wrong…
I mean guile is proof a character with two moves can be deep but many characters in this game lost vital moves. I’m not saying the game is not balanced because it deeps CC and gaurd counters seem to compensate but these changes don’t seem to be for the sake of the game. It’s more for the sake of time and cost.
Don’t you remember… Japanese are born with a magic gene that makes them all pros at fighting games. This is why Diago beat Justin Wong at EVO… duh.
Anyway, since this game doesn’t exactly have the huge arcade following SF4 has (which is where most the higher level “pros” come from) in order for the game to have a big enough following to be at a big tourney like EVO they REALLY have to fix the online. I’d imagine for this game most the competitors would be XBL/PSN warriors. Oh and Dark Geese who travels the globe looking for good KOF competitors (like Ryu).
I wouldn’t call Ralf’s attacks sub-par. He’s still really good, just different from the Ralf everyone knows and loves. Whether thats good or bad is debatable, but it doesn’t stop him from being a powerhouse.
Yeah I’d agree with this statement, in the end all that can really be done is to support the game. I’m thinking when KOF12 ver B comes out we will see some good additions. Don’t mind me I’m very sore that my fav character K’ is not in the game.
Reminds me of people who complain about kyo and iori losing their rekkas. I’m like LOL…as if they need them now
This is basically what I was trying to say.
