Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

@Mayonaka, I would have preferred something more like 15 dollars for the Combo Breaker package with 2 characters we’ll have to wait to play as. Would have been a little better for me. Definitely buying the game regardless because I’m just too much of a fan of the original series and what they are doing with this game outside of the money to not go in.

Well at least we got one really good thing. PURPLE GLACIUS.

Probably been talked about already, but why did KI get booed at Evo? Is it because it’s an Xbox One exclusive, or was it just the Capcom fanboys getting away with whatever they can? Or is KI a joke in the FGC?

Microsoft. The boos didn’t come till they specifically said the words “Xbox One”. So obviously booing Xbox One.

People really like the game so far in concept, just have mixed feelings or just plain hate the system its on. If it came out on WiiU you’d probably hear boos or dead silence also.

They mention Killer Instinct first and you hear the cheers. Then they go into Microsoft/Xbox One and boos.

How would you feel as a consumer if a developer said…hey, we finished half of the game’s characters and stages and had feedback on them and all of it is good for balancing? We need a year to do more characters and levels for them. Seriously, would you still not say: “Hey, can I just pay for half of the game then? And when the other half comes out, pay the other half and just ADD IT TO MY CURRENT GAME?” As it relates to fighting games at least. Or you want to wait for the whole thing? I’m just curious.

I know plenty of times I say that, shit, I said that about Titanfall as I want that game so bad. It’s not like the game is nickel and diming you as other F2P though. I’d rather play it this way then wait 3 years for 24 characters (if it takes that long). Build a base, work on it. Just my opinion though.

I’m a value for money kinda guy. They are selling packages and I will evaluate the game as a package. For what they offering at launch it’s not worth the asking price especially compared to other competing digital fighting games. When indie games like Skullgirls and even Divekick has more to offer for less than a AAA release for your console launch then you fucked up. I’m choosing to wait until the game reaches a state or at least have the amount of content to make the price worthwhile.

I want my purple Cinder back. :3 Hawking, if thats you, then go for it. I personally am more of the, pay attention to the game and the gameplay itself type. To each his own

Thanks for clearing that up, I was going by what this guy said:

I’m glad KI isn’t a joke. I mean, if they only remade the original and expected it to compete with GG or something, I probably wouldn’t take it seriously, but back then they game was a refreshing departure from the slower pace of SF and MK.

As a consumer, I will wait. As I said before, there is no downside of giving a game the time it needs for it to be a quality product. Getting products as soon as possible is how we end up with stuff like KoFXII and vanilla MvC3. It boils down to not wanting to pay for a beta.

This business model is extremely fair. Fuck the haters.

tataki, you are a man with sense. I like you

If you buy an X1 before march, and you pay for this game…

you did something wrong.

So Eventhubs is blowing up about this, general consensus about this isn’t good. The bright side is that If 7 people buy this game, it mean I’ll make Top 8 at EVO easy.

@CaptainGinyu, similar to that 8 man Tekken Tag 2 tourney at VxG. I should have entered just so I could make top 8 by sitting in my living room.

Eventhubs blew up about something.

You don’t say?

Seriously for a free game this is way to much noise. Or, if you buy your late, its the price of dinner.

Early blow ups don’t matter too much. It’s more about what happens after the game comes out. They may figure it’s not that bad or just see the hype from streams and start pitching in. A bunch of Eventhubs guys throwing 5 or 10 dollars in will add up quick.

People can basically just indiegogo the hell out of the game, except they get a character or 2 and all of the game modes for doing it. Then when they start seeing more of what they want, they can go all in later. It’s basically the easiest way to donate and make it the game people really want later. Except you get to play everything the game offers other than the other characters and accessory packs for donating.

Of course, the game could suck, no question. Though, taking that into consideration, $20 is less money for a game that could potentially suck, than full retail.

We are at a disadvantage with FG’s, as most of the video game press doesn’t really know shit about fighting games, at least at the serious level. So review scores and mainstream media impressions are somewhat unreliable. We have to buy it to find out.

Or we could just listen to Top Players and not think for ourselves :p.

I’m not worried about whether or not the game will suck. The reason the game will suck to you, will be completely different from the reason it sucks to someone else, or why it’s good for someone else. The best part about it maybe sucking is that if it sucks, you’ll know and have only spent 0 to 20 dollars. Best way to find out a game sucks probably ever.

That was pretty much my point.

Also, on the “will it suck” front. They have the freemium version too.

I do wish the pricing schemes were simpler. This is a case of, to much of a good thing.

Well if it’s too much of a good thing, then it should work out in the long run since eventually people will just find out it’s good.
