Killer Instinct XB1: Season 2 hits October 15th. 20 dollars for Combo, 40 dollars for Ultra

Only thing I am interested in seeing is the final roster. The lead guy at the end of the reveal video said that its August, and the game is coming out in November. I wonder just how much more content (characters) they have coming out. Unless they just start revealing new characters for each week from now on, I really don’t see them getting a respectable roster size for this game. I’m not a fan of continuously adding new characters thru DLC, not just because of the price, but because here is this; When you get a fighting game, you find the character or a small amount of characters you want to learn. You spend your time in the lab trying to learn what you can about that character. Also, you might just like that character because they “fit your personality” or something like that. So whenever they introduce new ppl into the game, you kind of almost feel obligated to want to play them. If there are a lot new ppl added thru DLC, it can kind of get hectic. I just hope DH is being really secretive about the content they have right now. I hope they have a lot more characters already made behind the scenes than they’re letting on.

Wish fighters would work on their portrayals of Latinos…as a Spanish stud I’m tired of every Spanish character being either a Mexican wrestler or some bull fighter!!!

Robert Garcia?

I wish they made Thunder with a mohawk. Not that stupid feather mohawk though, something more like Nightwolf’s alternate costume in MK Deception. I dig mohawks though.

It should be noted that with Chief Thunder revealed that all characters revealed fit each pinnacle of the “Triangle” of character archetypes that Double Helix mentioned they use when coming up with gameplay designs for characters, with the three points of the triangle being Rushdown, Zoning and Grappling, so the next characters being added will likely sit in between two of these points each).

As of now here are the characters that we know are confirmed to be in the game

Confirmed and shown:
- Jago (All-Rounder)
- Sabrewulf (True Rushdown)
- Glacius (True Zoner)
- Chief Thunder (True Grappler)

Confirmed but not shown:
- Fulgore.
- Cinder.
- Spinal.
- “Shadow Jago.” (Gargos related possibly?)

Anyone got any ideas for how you think each character will play?

It’s hard to say how they will play at this point, considering how much they changed Glacius from the oiriginal.

How could I forget him…he’s also the best dressed man in fighting games.

Robert is Italian.

Don’t forget

Miguel from Tekken
Vega from Street fighter

And for Latinas

Angel from KOF
Mila from DOA

Just double checked it…WTF Garcia is totally a Spanish name too.

Damn SNK get your shit together!

There’s always Angel

It’s gonna be hard to predict that. Seeing as how they’re trying to make this a legit tournament worthy fighter, they can’t go with the old route of just making every character basically the same. Even KI was a lot of fun in the past, you could hardly argue for those 2 games to be tournament fighters now. The play style for each character was rush down. There really weren’t any matchups you had to learn. The purpose of each character was the same; try to land a hit then do your biggest combo, and switch up your auto doubles every now and then to make sure you don’t get combo breakered. With this KI, however, they’re really trying to make sure each character actually plays differently.

Another awesome design. DH is made of magic right now. Please do Fulgore justice.

Well…if you think about it, they are already near 50 percent of the way through the cast of the first Killer Instinct. Which was 10 regularly selectable characters and one boss character. They’ll have time to get things around. Once they start releasing KI2 characters and boss characters they will pretty much be near complete revealing the entire KI IP right there. The game has a smaller roster so they can kinda play around with this more than a series like SF or Marvel where the cast is rather large and splits off between multiple sequels and extended series.

The only characters I really care about at this point are Orchid, Fulgore and Kim Wu. Tusk will be interesting to see also, but past that I’m settled with the way they made Glacius and he looks really fun to play. I’m more interested in seeing their new character designs and how crafty they can get with them. Especially since they’re promising that they are interested in releasing new characters for a long time. Which means past all of the old character hype, they most likely have a slew of new ideas lined up.

I think it will make more sense to you once they reveal the purchasing methods and pricing next week at Gamescom.

I knew they were going to turn Glacius into a zoner because he had the right moveset and design for it. He’s pretty much set as my main character unless Fulgore or Orchid blow my mind. Which I doubt. Kinda more interested in seeing how they remake Kim Wu more than anything.

Fulgore has the build to be a grappler, but may end up being more of an all rounder type like Jago. Maybe a bit slower walk speed and some different angles to approach at. He had a teleport also so maybe they’ll work that in, or maybe take it away since it won’t fit his style. We’ll see.

Cinder looks like he could be another balanced or zoning type based on his playstyle also. Probably not full zoning oriented like Glacius, but some shit to throw around. I’d love to hear “INNNNFERRRNO” again even though they might omit that.

Spinal I’m assuming will be the next true zoning character. He has the right type of projectiles and design for it. They could probably make his teleport work into the zoning like Peacock also or something. I will be really surprised if he is anything, but another true zoner to work in with Glacius. Maybe balanced, but I’m getting that zoner vibe from him.

I don’t know how the fuck Shadow Jago is going to work, but yeah story wise he’s obviously getting fucked up by the Tiger Spirit’s evil power. It all kind of depends on whether characters have different health values or not. A lot of old school fighting game developers/players are working on this game so they may opt to do away with health values and just find some other way of balancing him.

Orchid will most likely be another balanced type. Don’t seem them trying to turn her into a female grappler and she doesn’t really have the design to be a full out zone character. She will probably just be a bit more focused on the rush game and have a bit less defensive options compared to Jago.

Riptor has a projectile and air projectile so zoner could be kinda in there. Though “she” also had stuff like the bicycle kick that could throw her into more of a balanced type. Don’t see her being full rush or grappling.

T.J. Combo will most likely be rushdown. He doesn’t really fit the zoning or grappling archetype especially since they may give him his boxing gloves back like in KI1. KI2 with the white bands would be interesting also. We’ll see. I just want to see lots of jukes and such and punches that go on forever.

Eyedol if they make him a character could probably be another balanced type. Can’t remember a ton to say what else.

Kim Wu will most likely be another balanced type. Has projectiles and nunchucks and such. May work the nunchucks into more of her normals.

Maya could end up maybe being the female grappler type, but with her acrobatics they could fit something more like an El Fuerte or Ramon into her. If not, probably just another rushdown.

Tusk would most likely be a normal based zoner, but his build could easily make him a grappler also. I see him being a mix between grappling and zoning. Poking with swords, but if he gets close he’ll grab you up too.

Gargos…balanced probably.

Think I have a pretty good shot of being right on most of those.

hmm…I wonder how they re changing motions, weren’t the triple axes a charging move? Having to charge as a grappler would SUCK.

Also something I’m curious about, I mean KI doesn’t play anything like SF, but its pretty common for grapplers to have gdlk normals and pokes, I wonder if that will continue here, or if he’s designed to just be an unblockable rushdown character who gives two shits about your DP (yay! Capcom take note of this for Gief), while Sabrewulf is the rushdown mix-up character.
hmm rubs chin

As a grappler, between the shadow and the instinct, I can’t help but feel sorry for Gief - that’s what his bear hug needs to be like to deal with Sagat :arazz:

I guess you never played with Jubei Yamada in Fatal Fury 2/Fatal Fury Special. It’s quite awesome actually.

I remember hearing the charge times are really short like an anime game. Maybe even shorter. Might have to ask Mayonaka or something.

Also, I like how lightning actually strikes from the sky and hits Thunder’s axes whenever he does certain moves. Makes it feel like he’s truly calling from the spirits.

Am I the only one who sees the cross-up for the dive kick move? Easy to see but still there.

My brother loved Thunder and Orchid. I’m waiting to see Fulgore.

SNK games have never been able to hold my interest (no shots fired, I just struggle to like any of the characters, whom seem just as derivative at times as shotos - who are yawn status to me).

I don’t know, I just see a real aggressive game were for ‘parodies’ sake…if you block - you’re playing it wrong. In KI1, I remember Saberwolf being able to charge ‘forward’ during his combos and the such, so maybe that will apply here. With Gief (again I’m playing SF in KI conceptually so forgive me a bit), there is lot of footsy elements, pacing back and forth, hopping, etc. If Z had to charge any move, he would never be in a position to get it ‘off’.

It reminds me of Gief’s cross-up ‘knees’ in SF4. Only frame data will tell if it can lead to anything, I’m super apprehensive right now about it though, I’m expcting nasty punishment for it being blocked.
