Yeah I thought it was pretty lame you have to pay $3 and some change for shipping. The thing could fit in an envelope lol. But whatever, I arleady ordered it lol.
As far as the update goes, I’m really liking Glacius alt costume. I was just playing Spinal a little bit and he seems pretty fun. He can be pretty nice as a rushdown if you are on the offensive too, and you can then mix up with teleports. His laugh when he runs is the best part of his character.
I don’t know though, I felt like his controls are different than everyone else. I felt like I was missing shit left and right with him that I don’t normally miss with other characters. Also I tried to counter break 4x and not once did it actually counter break. I don’t know wtf is up lol. I got off because it froze in a Spinal mirror match when I was in the corner and the other guy teleported.
From what i tried one skull gives him and extra 5% on a full combo, im not sure if more skulls will stack. i was getting more than 80% like 87 ish but then i realized i wasn’t letting the health regenerate if i dropped a combo before.
Cop: excuse me, but are you (insert name)?
Person: Yeah Why?
Cop: Good, Your under arrest for quitting an online match on Killer Instinct.
Person: What?!!
Sounds kinda silly to go to jail over something like that if you ask me
I have not once been able to successfully counter break with Spinal. I switched between a bunch of characters to make sure my timing wasn’t off, and between all others it was fine. Either the timing is very different for Spinal, or he can’t counter break. Which, considering his ghostly manuals, wouldn’t surprise me
I was playing a bit tonight with Glacius (who is my normal main) and I was also having some issues with counter breakers, as well as normal moves. I don’t know what is up but something does not seem right after this update.
I use Sadira, I could hit counter breakers with her, even online. Spinal however didn’t even give me the whiff animation. I’m thinking he can’t counter breaker as a trade off for his ghostly normals. That being said, I’ve noticed a lot of subtle changes that weren’t listed in the Dev list, so maybe that’s part of if
Soo Spinal can just teletport and punish all of the Glacius wakeup setups, even the meaty f+mp. Hail and shatter have to be use differently in this match up, as of now seems very weak
Yeah you just have to play more fundamentally vs. Spinal on his wake up. The other stuff Glacius normally uses people don’t have an option to simply move their body out of the way of like Spinal. If you do something meaty yet quick you’ll be able to recover and punish. It’s definitely a difficult matchup once Spinal gets skulls going because you can’t really do much without him teleport into a free punish.
So far Spinal seems pretty manageable before he gets skulls/instinct. Easily the worst character in the game when low on resources.
Jin:
Something I forgot to mention on chat but you’re helping me unlearn the bad habit of using the same strenght linker after doubles/manuals with those breaks.
VE:
That was a fun session, I agree that Spinal seems somewhat akward. I picked up some your tactics with Spinals pokes.
Yeah definitely Diek. A lot of the lesser rank players only break on auto doubles. When you fight someone that looks for the linkers it forces you to change up more. I noticed you started going for counter breakers more during the later part of the set. You should definitely have counter breakers on the ready when using your hard auto doubles as it can make them more potent. Then you’ll get free hard auto doubles later when you condition the opponent to not break during them. Glacius’ ice lance is punishable on block from closer distances with shadow wind kick also. I played some good matches vs. Rebelo’s Jago later today and I’ll upload those later for you to watch.
As much as I like weird characters like Spinal, he’s almost too weird for me yeah. He just reminds me a lot of Zappa where the real stuff you must fear about him is hidden behind a sub game and such. Glacius was already taxing enough to figure out with no dash and slow unblockable non projectile so, yeah just stick with him and wait for Fulgore. Which BTW they said Fulgore will be another game changing character. Which is crazy because like the last 4 characters that have come out have been game changers as is. Spinal is basically game changer the character, so I’m excited to know what my old main will bring to the table.
@FlyingVe, let’s get some games in. I want to see what theory you put together with Spinal so far.
