Because they want this to be a game you can only get on the console they want to sell right now?
Business yo.
Exactly. Gaming is a business. Just lol anything else.
Watching those EVO matches. This game is so hype. I can’t wait.
Unfortunately the truth… but im hyped as well for the game. Been hyped for years xD

Thats whats up, thanks!
Took this while I was there. I was in Vegas for something else and stopped by for like 45 minutes on Friday just to see KI and get my hands on it. I cannot wait for this game to come out!
I really hope they fix the hit spark. Between the rapid movement between attacks and the constant flashing for every hit, the game was literally making me sick. It would be shame if the game is shipped out like that.
I get that its business but MS has proven that they way of doing things are not always profitable. Correct me if Im wrong… KI will be the only fighting game on the system correct? The system will not play 360 games and I really have not heard any company say they are making a XB1 version of their games. Like I said I may be wrong, but if Im right MS dont know shit about business. Think about it… they may luck up and get some sales, but the majority of there sales would have been from the FGC if they had it on 360. Not that many people are going to buy a $500.00(not including the extra warranty for $100+ more) system that they may have to get a whole new stick for (the will cost $150+) along with the game itself. You’re looking at close to $700.00+ just to pay KI? Really???
Now it wold not be so bad if you could
1)Play all of your existing fighting games on the XB1
2)Use your existing stick on the XB1
I know these two thing will not happen but thats all the reason for MS to do a “360” on this game being an exclusive for XB1. This game alone will not sell systems PERIOD. This is not 8yrs ago when the jump from Xbox to 360 was a major difference(480 to 720). 1080 is 1080 no matter what system you have, PS3, 360, PS4 or XB1 and thats why its more about features than graphics because they know, until 2K technology comes down in price, they have push graphics to the limit.
Hope no one think Im trolling… just saying.
You could say that for any new system though. The fact of the matter is that in order to move people to a new system, they have to give them compelling reasons to not stay with the old system. You might not think it may be a compelling reason but I may, in fact, Killer Instinct is a big reason why I’m buying an Xbox One at launch. There are people who’ve been waiting for this game for a long time and to be able to play a new rendition of it is exciting. So to say that this game won’t sell systems is actually invalid.
First of all, yes, people will buy a $500 system, I’m pretty sure people bought $600 dollar PS3 when it was first released. Secondly, not a lot of people buy warranty on their game systems, so you can deduct that misc. $100+, and not everyone has to buy a fightstick, granted I am because I think the fightstick is awesome and I’m pretty sure people will learn to hack them to play on it just like they did with PS3 and 360 dual modding. Thirdly, people who buy any system at launch or early in it’s release will be paying a lot of money, Killer Instinct or not. So I believe the money situation is a moot point. People buy new iPads to play $1-$5 games and go on the internet and they pay a lot for that device. It’s all relative to what the consumer feels is reasonable. There are many consumers who feel that what the Xbox One is offering is reasonable.
The thing is that what you are asking is what you want as a consumer, that doesn’t always work in order for a business to be profitable. You’re asking for them to be backwards compatible (which costs money since this is a totally different architecture) so you don’t have to spend money on new products. What does a business want you to do? Spend money on their new products. Oh and by the way, you’ll have to buy a new fightstick for the PS4 as well because the PS3 controller doesn’t work on the PS4. It’s the same thing. No worries though, there’s no fighting game for the PS4 to get hype about anyways.
Saying MS doesn’t know shit about business kind of makes you lose a lot of credibility in my eyes. Then you go on to give wrong info about prices.
People paid $400 + $60 + $150 to play SF4 on Xbox360 with a joystick. I don’t think the extra $100 cost of the console is that big of a deal to many people, especially since it is 8 years after Xbox360 came out.
I personally am purchasing Xbox1 BECAUSE of Killer Instinct. This is the most excited I’ve been about a console launch since playing Mario 64 at Toys R us when I was 14.
I also forgot to mention…Microsoft makes billions of dollars per quarter…but they don’t know business? Yea, but you sure do.
I’m really curious as to how the game will be greeted by the community. It looks so excellent, I’m leaning more and more toward day one purchase. I could see this be my main game for a really long time if it turns out as good as it seems it will. Big respect to Double Helix and the way they conduct themselves with this project.
@purbeast you’re right man, the MS dont know shit was waaayyyy over the top. Im a total ass for that and I’m owning up to it. I am not saying XB1 will not sell, Im saying KI will not be the reason for it to sell. For that reason alone is why I think its a bad business decision to have KI as a XB1 only game. I get that its MS who makes it but all of your A+ games coming out this Nov will be on multiple systems. Why limit the profit you will make by having it XB1 only. That’s all Im saying.
@Zedox I dont want them to go BC and I stated that when I said that will never happen. Making a system BC limits what the new system can do so who would want that? Like you said they have to give you a reason to go with a new system and all Im saying is KI is not it. Trust me man Im a big KI fan and have been waiting on this like everyone else. I loook at it as MS gave us multiple reason on why we should get a XB1 in May before E3. Its sure not the games because they are on multiple systems. You are right everyone will not get a stick, hell I know I would not want to for one game.
If they are lucky maybe 10% of XB1 sales will be because of KI and thats what my post is all about. MS will not make no where near the total profit they could if this game was on both systems(360 XB1). People are going to buy the XB1 because they want the system not because thats the only way they can play KI. Well at least 90%.
Again not trolling… just saying.
P.S. not a fanboy. I have every system Wii, WiiU, PS3, 360, vita, 3DS.
I’m just saying, we shouldn’t worry about what makes sense for them. We are the consumers. I just want to play the game. All that other stuff on how them being a business and making the most money, that’s on them. Not me.

Well MS owns the Killer Instinct IP, so there is just no way that they are going to put it out on any other consoles.
And again I think that you are wrong if you think KI isn’t going to move some systems. For me personally, it is the only exclusive launch title that I am extremely excited about.
You also have to remember that KI alone doesn’t have to be the ONLY game people buy the console for. Perhaps there are people on the fence about what console to get because they mainly want to play the new COD or BF game, but maybe they also like fighters (whether casual or hardcore). Then it would be an obvious decision to get the Xbox1 over the PS4 if that is the case. And that means that MS will continue to make money from that person since they will be purchasing more games down the line, and MS gets moneyfor every Xbox1 game that is sold.
You are looking at this with too narrow of a viewpoint. You gotta think big picture.

I’m just saying, we shouldn’t worry about what makes sense for them. We are the consumers. I just want to play the game. All that other stuff on how them being a business and making the most money, that’s on them. Not me.
Agreed. What theyre doing is pretty irrelevant. I just want the game, and i want it to play well, which it does. Sure we’re paying a lot for 1 game, but when youve been hyped for a game for 12+ years, it doesnt matter. Now, i just wait for Cinder and Spinal reveal :3

Exactly, I’m a gamer. I’m excited for games. Let Shenmue 3 be announced, I’ll lay $500 just for that game. Yes, a majority of people wouldn’t…but I want that game. Games and the experiences in video games are what drive us…not all that other bs.

Microsoft isn’t loosing any money by releasing KI exclusively for XB1. Its simple you want to play KI buy this system, and they know there are enough crazy people like myself that have wanted this game so badly they would jump through numerous hoops to get it. It certainly isn’t a system selling franchise like Halo but to those who must have it like fans and TO’s its putting money in the Microsoft bank… I was gonna buy XBONE just for this game even before they got rid of the drm that i was so heavily opposed to. Literally, buy the system, KI and nothing else, then sometime down the road get a PS4 and play my other next gen games on that. If not for KI i wouldn’t have even considered XBONE.
If anyone is loosing money here its Double Helix, they would profit the most from having a release on 360. However, this is prolly why they plan on releasing the game digitally and at different price points the way they are. There will be tons of day one XBone owners who prolly dont give a shit about fighting games, but will have access to that free Jago version and may decide to purchase other characters. Lots of people will put a little bit of money into that game, and few people will put lots of money into that game. If the game is as good as its looking Double helix will certainly make its money, especially if the community loves it and makes its a big tourney game. Either way, Microsoft gets paid.
Lets just talk KI…
@Onyx Im with you 100% and like you said lets just talk KI because this can go on and on and on… Was not trying to start something, but you know how things can pop off easy. Ok back to the true topic of the thread.
