I’ve been hearing that Rapid Daggers isn’t a true blockstring when stand blocked? I saw a Fei Long dp through it. Could just be a specific distance thing, or it could be only when stand-blocking, haven’t had time to test thoroughly, but there it is
if that’s the case and becomes common knowledge, i’ve got a workaround - I’ve found I can reliably confirm whether the c.mk hit/was blocked before cancelling by doing c.mk~hp~mp~lp[visual confirm], mp~lp
Quick question, recently I’ve been kind of scared to play footsies with her cr.mk into light daggers, I can do it consistently but I feel confused as to when to throw it out. I’ve been mixing it up on block with cr. lk, cr. lp ~delay 1 sec~ cr. mk - light daggers but just throwing it out as a poke frightens me, any tips?
Honestly I would be more afraid of doing it during a blockstring than when playing footsies. I always seem to get blown up by a DP during blockstrings but I have decent success with it in footsies. I would just start out doing it a little bit outside of max range and catch people with counterhits. Then as you get more comfy using it you can start throwing it out more offensively.
I can do it about 70% of the time in training mode (I’m getting there) but I really need to practice doing it against other players. Anyone know how Uryo does it so fluently? The piano method is homogeneous for most players I think (lp-cr.mk, hp-mp, mash lp) but the way I have to position my hand over my stick to pull off hands makes it difficult for me to do it during blockstrings since I have to position my thumb over lk and then rapidly position it over mk and piano in less than a second, am I the only one having this issue?
it just sounds like it’s a matter of time for you. Keep at it and you’ll get there.
Also, if the match doesn’t matter(tourney, mm, ranked, etc.), you should be trying to do it as much as you can against people. The more you do it the more natural it becomes.
I do it on pad so I have no execution tips to add.
Anyone here consider HP/EX Break important to their game?
I pretty much stopped using it subconsciously once I learned how to do low forward into hands consistently, didn’t even realise till a guy I was playing casuals with asked me why I never use it
I think its the best way to build meter full screen. It can be used meaty if you are confident they wont reversal as it is completely safe after they block.
I like break HP mostly as a wakeup/meaty setup. Other times I like to use it if it’s a good chance I can dizzy the opponent. Just break right on top their head and hope that 50/50 works lol.
EX break to MP is clearly to me the best move in the game.
yep, ex mp break is super good. i only use hp break when i’ve decided that my opponent is completely garbage and won’t ever block
edit: criminalupper distracts the shit outta me with that booty, fuck. i always get stuck looking at it for a minute before i can proceed to read the post
use mk like you would any character… trying to catch them walking forward max range
how to use a specific button in footsies is not really somethign that can be explained just has to be learend through playing and wathcing people’s habits, learning hit/hurtboxes of various moves / opponents
watch players like kbrad, chi rithy, xiaohai or whoever using cammy and watch where they use cr mk xx spiral arrow that is the same spot you should be using decapres
its a very easy move to confirm i would say easier than cammy’s i would advise against using it like honda uses hands other than you can get away with it and benefit from great pushback. just stop pressing the buttons if you see it’s been blocked! takes a lot of getting used to but is 100% reactable to. people react to CH FP xx ultra so its not impossible by any stretch.
It’s really good for midscreen focus breakers. Doing M scramble >> feint a few times in a match is a good way to not only take away your opponent’s mental energy (they have to spend mental resources watching your character go back and forth in the air), but also to see how they react. If you see them DP, focus, etc you can get a better sense of how they respond and then use that later in the match.
The best part is if you read the focus with an EX H break you not only get a pretty hard punish (300ish damage, even more if you U2), but you’re likely to make them gunshy about focusing again. This opens up other tools in your inventory (namely spiral arrow).
Question, what are you people using as a punish when you have no charge? Unfortunately 2 linked cr.MPs don’t give you enough time to charge a stinger or a slide (though curiously, cr.MP has enough frame advantage that you can actually link it to stinger so that miiight work). I’m talking about situations where you aren’t close enough for a target combo > air throw or max damage cl.HP > stuff. I mean situations like a blocked EX up-kick by yun. I’ve been trying to go for cr.MP > cr.MP xx Heavy hands. That seems to be about the most damage I can get in such situations. What about you guys?
MP Break is a better way to move forwards on someone without losing your charge. i always do it after stinger because your charge time starts before you actually reach your destination, with dashing you somewhat get a bit of extra time to charge but its definitely not as much as MP break.
I just pre-ordered Ultra even though I downloaded it just to get the alternate costume for Decapre. One of these days, I’m going to need a doll to show someone all the bad places Capcom has touched me.
depends on the punish. Cl HP Cr MP gives enough time to charge if you have 9 frames and close range, Target combo (MP >> HK) into Air throw does solid damage too. If neither of those are viable there’s always MP HP target combo. All depends on circumstance.
