I used to use Guy but I couldnt. Now I see fight against all these Guys and fall for all his mix ups. The thing that gets me the most is confusing his jump for bushin flip. Now Im like why couldnt I do or think of that.

I haven’t been around on the forums for a while. Real life issues happening and stuff… I had planned on going to Summer Jam this weekend but I got called in to work on the last minute so I’m sad about that. I really would like to show what I have cooked up over the past month. Maybe I’ll be at the next Guard Crush. If not, then definitely Season’s Beatings.
Last wednesday I had heavy sessions with Andre, Yipes and Lincoln. I played Inthul when he came to the ARC. I haven’t forgot about my input into the match-up thread. Just been so busy lately. Hopefully I will get around to it soon.
I feel like I’m finally ready to put Abel on the shelf completely and make the exclusive move to Guy. I am very comfortable and confident with the character and are willing to go through the future hardships. Even if I could use Abel to do well in tournies, I won’t. I’m going in with Guy until the final fight.

This I respect alot. Would definitely want input from your game experience with Guy against the rest of EMP’s crew.
Glitch: Jab repeatedly with Guy. Let opponent jump over said Guy (Shotos can easily with an air spin kick. Halk dive also works easy, and ex rainbow ball). Guy wont turn around and will jab in the wrong direction! YAY! Found that one out with a friend.
That match was intense. Im still learning more and more about this game now I could probably use Guy a little bit better. With Guy it seems you have to be one step ahead I just wasnt ready for that. Im definately going to pick Guy up again when I used him I would never think anything through because I wanted to instantly be good with him because I was worried about points but I dont care anymore.
I agree alot more with IPW’s most recent tier list where they have the Guile match up as 6-4 in Guys favour and Rufus as 5-5.
The only other advantage match up Guy has on the list is Seth,at 6-4.I dont really know what to think of this,after all the seth I’ve played I don’t see any obvious advantage Guy has besides big damage.Maybe they think Bushin flip is good for catching jumpy seths but I’ve had little success with it.Seth goes 5-5 with everyone really because of the random huge damage factor.
Yeah but on that list Guy is 4-6 to Juri, are they joking? Guy can TK Izuna practically everything in Juri’s arsenal, her overhead, pinwheel, divekick, if guy baits her dodge move and its a jump he can TK Izuna that, Hell after playing K1 you can Airthrow her out of her backdash.

im always switching between my parts…the red buttons are siemitsus…im always switching between those and sanwas…ive tried going back to the ball top, but i just cant…it sits too low compared to the bat…which now im stuck on
I guess I’ve missed a few things while lurking on this forum. I could’ve sworn the Guile matchup was 4-6 in Guile’s favor. The only advantage I’ve had against Guile is during his wakeup, and his sonic booms and crouching fierce have been consistently keeping me out enough that it rarely factors in. Does standing lk beat everything he can throw or something?
And I suppose while I’m at it, HI EVERYBODY. I’ve been playing Guy for a bit now, but my fighting game experience is limited to mediocre Tekken and Soulcalibur play, and maybe very bad xmen vs street fighter arcade play when I was a kid. I’d like to thank everyone who posts here since I’ve learned almost everything I know about Guy from you all. And I guess now I’ll be active in the forum/start signing up for clinics =P
first off, Welcome Ingenuity ! =) we would be happy to have you along at the clinics, just rsvp in the thread.
secondly, It always seems as though i agree with some aspects of the tier lists, while i disagree pretty firmly with other MU’s/character placements. I dont think the Guile matchup should be 6-4 in Guiles favor. i think its more along the lines of 5-5 due to the fact that Guile can keep out Guy pretty easily. His booms recover insanely fast so EX Run is not a viable option, bushin flips are usually AA’d with either guiles air throw or his cr.hp. Guile can just lame it out all match and as long as he keeps Guy out, its pretty free. On the flipside, if Guy DOES get in and is able to score a knockdown, guile is as free as the samples from costco. every single option he has on wakeup can be beat out by command elbow. all of them. clean. if he blocks you can easily tick throw, and not to mention that Guile has been raped by crossups in almost every game hes been in. its all a matter of if Guy can score a knockdown or not.
regarding the Rufus matchup, i honestly think its pretty close to 6-4 in Guys favor. Guy can stop dive kick pressure a lot easier than most of the cast, and actually usually wins in air-to-air battles. the only things that keep rufus alive in this matchup are his U2 and his EX Messiah (who didnt see THAT one coming…). EX Messiah is actually easy enough to bait. U2 on the other hand, is kinda difficult to counter. you have to be very careful with your run/stops. overall, considering the fact that rufus divekick pressure is kinda nullified (he can still do it, just not incredibly effectively like he can against most of the cast) this matchup is made a lot more simple.
VS Juri, i think the match is 5-5 honestly. ive played both sides of the matchup. if any of you have played me for any length of time, ive pulled out juri and used her. shes my secondary. juri can AA for days, which presents a problem for Guy. she can beat out all of his jump in attempts, including command elbow, clean. she also has VERY good pokes and can buffer her pinwheel into most of the useful pokes. her divekick breaks focus and EX divekick can combo to U2. She has pretty strong pressure strings as well. once again though, she only has one option on wakeup thats safe - EX Counter. if guy scores an untech knockdown on her, shes pretty free. after using EX counter, Juri will almost always either go straight up or try and cross you up by going up-forward. just watch which direction she goes and block accordingly. if you successfully block it, she just wasted meter for nothing. when she doesnt have meter you can apply all the pressure you want, just dont jump in unless shes on wakeup. seriously, dont do it. if she blocks your jump in attempt on her wakeup, just keep going with run/stop pressure. dont jump again, it will let your pressure go. one last thing thats not really a huge issue, but its helpful: Juri’s far.st.hk goes over lows. keep it in mind, you dont know how many times its turned a game around for me at the last minute while ive been using juri.
anyways, those are just my opinions. questions/comments ?
The one thing on the new tier list that boggled me is Balrog, Gief and Halk being 5/5. Other than that, meh.
yeah, no way is rog 5/5. the only matchups i feel are definitely in the opponents favor are rog and honda. all the others are not super bad. a lot of it depends on the players playstyle though. that really dictates a lot
Idk I have a feeling the match up against Juri is 6-4 in Guy’s favour, cause TK Izuna, and well Kaiten Izuna in general just rapes the shit out of anything she can do, if she does her EX counter and jumps (if it was activated via a light attack) Guy I’m sure about that Guy has enough time to TK Izuna. And he can Izuna her outside of backdash… that was a mindfuck definitely when that happened xD
first day back on XBL, and i’m losing to randoms who hurricane kick from full screen away. :sad:
the thing with Izuna is true, BUT juri is all about spacing/zoning and AA’ing…both of which she can do VERY well against Guy…again, it all really depends on each players playstyle…rushdown juri is less effective vs Guy than a zone/poke juri is.
i still feel like its 5/5.
