noob question:
what are the rankings? master -> grandmaster -> ultimatemaster -> warrior?
I’ve been experimenting with his wall jump lately. People do not expect this in matches so once in a while, it’s fun to bust out with HK but I’d like to hear your opinions on the wall jump. Good, bad, stuff to do with it that is absolutely necessary?
You can use the elbow drop to change your angle and bait out shoryukens. doesn’t work on higher level players but occasionally some B player will fall for it and whiff a DP. I don’t use it too much, people figure out that and you could get hit by a hadouken/ryu super.
Lol SBO this year sounded terrible for SF4. Yun and Yang vs Yun and C.Viper in grand finals along with two other Yuns, Ibuki and Ken in top 4.
ST on the other hand sounded great.Cant wait to watch that.
AE is such a terrible game, and I’m so glad I dont put that much time into it.
Just came back from a tourney here in CT at Gaming Etc. I played Guy all throughout and there were no twins… at all… >> maybe i should iron out my Yang and wreckhouse with him lol. went 2-2 I lost to CP (old friend of mine) and Noel Brown.
Guy really needs to get his flaws fixed, low profile moves and Downback method realy just murder him.
Hey guys, I’m new to this site and forum, so I’m just saying hi. My favourite is Guy as I feel he’s more of an advanced character, and he’s pretty bad-ass as well. I’ve won plenty of matches with him and adon and got a pretty good rank now
Well dude, I know what you mean, but honestly as someone who also plays both MvC3 along with SF4, I feel that the next 2 months will be the best time to grind out as much Guy training as possible, even if its on AE. As far as I’m concerned, MvC3 is dead at the moment (too many important balance changes in UMvC3 that make MvC3 obselete), but once UMvC3 drops, it’s going to take quality time finding the right team again, then training it, and its going to be tough putting in 100% in both games.
My plan for the next 2 months is to MM as many non-twin/Fei Long players as I can. Sure, 2012 is going to take some adjustments to Guy game play (getting used to whoring the new throw range, possible new insta-overheads, new safe jumps, possible new empty bushin flip oki), but right now, there’s no real downside to tightening your run-stop and footsie game in match ups that won’t change drastically in 2012.

^The thing is, I dont get any fun out of the game anymore.The things you need to learn to win, are a chore to learn.SF4 needs fundamental changes to the engine and not to balance changes. Yun, Yang,Fei Long,Viper and Seth are just scapegoats right now to stop people complaining about the actual system.The real problem is the fact that the game is about Safe jumps,option selects and true strings, which are all some of the most mundane concepts ever in a fighter.
Its like this game is less about strategy and finding your own flow, and more about unnecessary technicalities like frame data.Of course fundamentals and matchup knowledge go a long way, but it feels to me like all that goes out thew window when stuff like wakeup option select focus backdash exists.I feel like in older games, gameplan,some actual execution and playing to your heart was rewarded more.
Thats why I like marvel because there is more strategy involved imo purely because its a team game. I feel like once I’ve learnt bnbs for characters, I can just play and whatever strategy in my mind will work, without it being made obsolete because of a catch all option that destroys whatever I’m trying to do.
I just dont think SF4 is for me personally. I dont hate the game, its just I enjoy marvel more and it feels more natural to me.Personally I think both games are shit compared to older games, but we have to accept that and move on anyway.
^How do you feel about Street Fighter X Tekken? I don’t know about others, but I’m thinking my attention will mainly shift to that game after it comes out.

I dont really have any opinion of pandora mode and the rest of the mechanics right now. It would be cool if Guy is in it.
well there is a leaked list of characters or as everyone puts it a rumoured list, and so far the list is correct, Guy and Cody were both on that list.
Nah it got proven to be false because of the Rufus reveal. But Guy is definitely in the game, so it all works out :).
Three cheers for Guy! I heard Rolento might be in, is that false too? I wouldn’t mind him much, but seems a lot of characters are defo making it in the mix. Capcom sure have got their hands in the businees of crossovers.
Also check out the Final Fight themed stage. With Guy, Cody, Poison, Hugo, and Rolento, SFxT is looking like a Final Fight reunion! Hopefully Guy feels right in that game. Hopefully we get to see gameplay of him soon…
yep I’m hoping too, he felt good in SSFIV, maybe he might be improved. He’s got kunai yet he never uses them, it’d be nice for a projectile. I’ve only played Hugo in SVC, and he played good. Sodom would be a nice touch as well, but we can’t have everything ;L
I wanna see Guy with some of those Alpha 3 juggles and combo potential in SFXTKN!
Rolento style kunai would be nice, or atleast something like chun-li’s target combo only special kick thing.
Anyone know where i can find good images of Guy for a TE fightstick? I’ve done alot of searching but i can’t find anything… thx in advance.
Its hard right now to find some but you can google some! I made a custom Guy stick that Im still working on. Maybe with SFxTKN coming out there will be more art for GUY!
Hello Guys I am finally back from Brazil to Tokyo after two months of vacation, beaches and a lot of beer.
I have something REALLY IMPORTANT TO ASK ALL OF YOU.
Tomorrow I am going to the location test at kichijouji, to try the 2012 beta version (I will not care about winning or losing, I will just spend some bucks on testing stuff) and of course I will take a camera with me and post all the fights here later.
So I want you Guys to tell me what do you want me to test.
So far, I have been planning on testing the following items:
1- Walk back speed and its influence on fotsie game
2- empty bunshin flip recovery speed and if it is really usable as a bait for further mix-up (as in the dev blogs example target combo > empty bunshin flip > throw)
3- Ultra 1 after FADC hozanto and Gokusa combo from various locations on the screen
4- Ultra 1 against a fireball at various distances
5- Ultra 2 command input and distance (Ill try it from a bit far from the opponent)
6- Vertical jump HP as an air to air
7- Diagonal jump MP and diagonal jump HK against Ryu’s ducks (to see to what extent its hitbox was lowered)
8- Wall jump > elbow drop; Wall jump > HK or MK (to see from where can we attack after wall jumping)
9- Throw distance and Kara Throwing with the new range
10 - elbow drop with diagonal inputs
11- See if Run > overhead doesn’t whiff against Sakura, Juri, Rose and etc.
12- See if EX Senpuukyaku hits all hits as An anti-air and if it hits Juri’s cr MK as a wake up reversal.
If we get to know how the changes are, we can ask the dev’s blog for further changing, if needed!
