Keyboard players key mapping

Fighting game experts prove to be some of the brightest gamers around. :woot:

(That’s based on a very small study I did at another forum, fighters could play almost every other genre of game with skill!)

That seems pretty accurate. Fighting games happen to require key execution, sometimes almost perfect. So it takes a lot of concentration and skill. When you move to another genre requiring not as much precision.

Lets say:

A platformer like Mario world. Your execution will seem god like, even though you arent taking it seriously.

wow I never knew that its so easy for me to go to other games too like “that”

Oh shit dude, thats genius.

 i’m not the only person who uses that layout.

I use ESDF for movement and JIP for kicks and KLO for punches. But I’m gonna buy a stick if I get serious about my game. Imagine coming to a tournament with a keyboard.:wgrin:

yeah imagine that lol:rofl:

when i used to use my keyboard my setup was:
wasd=Movement
insert,home,pageup=Punches
delet,end,pagedown=kicks

why is everyone using WASD for movement :S

i noticed thats the way we use sticks but i find directional keys much easier, also makes me wonder why sticks have it so our left hand is made to do the hardest work.

i use keys and ASD.ZXC FOR p/k, keyboards dont register 2 buttons pressed at the same time so ex’s barley work, u can forget throws and uoh, currently i have throw as an assigned custom key since scrubs keep beating me, until my convertor arrives :frowning:
also i can only sjc right, not left.

eish apprently pelican convertor works well, diagonals not registering is defo a convertor problem.

hardest work? I’d depend on the game right?

well personally, stick movement = parrying/blocking[crossups] , super movements on reaction need to be more accurate than button presses, i can press buttons with my feet?

Then its just a matter of what you are used to? Both movement and button precision is important. I have never seen a stick or pad with right as movement and left as buttons. If you left hand is not fast enough, the world cant change its perception on what is normal for a couple of mame users.

I just got the vf5 stick for 360. I plan to use it on mame but I can’t seem to figure out how to configure so that it will work. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, a step by step would be fantastic. I realize this is prolly not the right thread, but please help a noob out.

Arrows=movements, ASD=kicks, ZXC=punches and kicks/punches are in order from weakest to strongest.
