Kentucky fighting gamers UNITE!

Awesome man if you get the live stream into works then we’d pretty much be ready start picking location to book and get rolling with drawing hype. I think other than that all we need is a projector but like I said if can’t find anyone to loan one out I’ll just rent one.

Edit*** Well, not really ready but we would have mostly all the major things we need scratched off the supply list. There’s still a matter of thinking of best place to do it, thinking of a name for it, thinking of an appropiate entry free, getting the prizes, spreading the word, thinking of a date, lotta work left to do lol but seems like we’r making great progress already.

Yeah, i know Doug. Need to get some games in with him again soon.

just read the thread, this is only from 1 page…

i personally know 1 maybe 2 people in louisville that play blaze blue. i know about 25 that play marvel and about 50 that play some form of sf2. mathmaticaly, weeaboos lose… but if you want to add Blaze in there just because you and you friend like it then whatever i say go for it. but the heavy hitters aint showin up. HEY LETS RUN SMASH BROTHERS WHILE WERE AT IT. maybe we can get a bunch of little kids to show up too

Like i said we haven’t picked the games yet and we are only trying to think of big bread makin games. Blazblue is a very popular tournament title. We’r trying to get a legit tournament scene going so it would make sense to use the games that get played in tournaments nationwide the most. And HD remix or mvc2 are probably going to be on the roster. We’r just getting a feel, if theres not many people that would show up for blazblue, then we wont do it, it all depends on the amount of people willing to come for what game.

*I personally have only played blazblue once and i sucked at it so its definitely nothing to do with being a fanboy of the game, though my buddy is pretty good at it. If things work out with this tournament we will probably do a MW or Halo or some type of shooter one later, i’ll play anything with a competitive edge to it.But I mean if there’s really a group of 25-50 who are serious SF2 players then we’ll definitely do it.

Wow don’t listen to anything Sado says. He gets his panties in a wad over games he doesn’t even play. Kentucky was the place to be for Guilty the last few years. I can’t say if any other game was taken seriously in Kentucky. Definitely not MvC2.

Btw me and a friend are looking into venues to do a “bar fights” sorta tournament. We definitely want alcohol to be available in some way!

I… cant believe i didn’t even think of that, thats genius, alcohol would make everything better lol, we should all just fucking pool or money n work together and get something well planned and legit going.

Midwest Championships 2010 is in 30 days,** but there are only 15 days left toreserve your hotel room at the discounted rate of $69/night.** On top of our great tournaments, I wanted to remind you all that there is a door prize raffle. Simple paying the venue fee enters you in the raffle to win one of the many cool prizes. In the raffle are 5 Tournament Edition Madcatz Arcade Sticks, so you could be going home with one of these babies! On top of that, the $1,000 pot bonus on Super SF4 is being split separately from the normal prize pool, meaning that everyone in the SSF4 top 8 gets some money. More people in the money = more happy players.

This is the very first Super SF4 major, and we are also playing a stupid number of other games. Its anEvo qualifier, and we are giving away 16 trophies for various titles. Please come out and show your support for the Midwest fighting game scene, and of course, have an amazing time. See you in 30 days!

DJ, quit acting like a Dunce. Not ONE player in Kentucky even qualifies as “kind of good” at Marvel. I can go match for match with basically everyone in the state and I’m TRASH at marvel. A number of people are pretty damn good at BlazBlue, granted a lot of that crew is a little more spread out now (Few to Cinnci, few to ashland, etc)

Realistically the games that make the most sense: SSF4, Tekken 6
below that: HDR, BlazBlue, Marvel, Smash

hate all you want on the games you don’t like, but guess what, you’re not running the tourney, you’re not acting in a way thats beneficial, you just try to act hard and make every one think you’re hot shit. Take it down a notch. Our scene has gotten weak and splintered enough already, we don’t need people feeling like they shouldn’t be playing X or Y game because some hot-head can’t keep his mouth shut. You realize how much of a running joke you’ve turned into on places like GGPO because of how much you run your mouth, right? Ease up. You can be a cool guy when you drop the act and juts enjoy some games, but you don’t need to come at new players like that.

Tekken 6 would be a good idea i didnt really even consider it cuz i never really got into tekken but its pretty big game. Maybe SF4,HD Remix, and Tekken 6? Im still diggin the bar thing too though sounds like badass idea. SHit man since you know Doug and friends with Zinac we should just get together sometime, knock out few matches, and talk shop. Get these plans moving into motion. We got most the equipment, and we’ll put back the prize money n expenses money over next month or so. If wonderboy wants to hook a live stream up thatd b dope i think, and we can save the videos and make youtube channel afterwards.

just offering this person some realistic advice based on how obvious it is he has never done this before nor knows much about the kentucky fighting game scene and what people are playing, mainly in the BIG city, not the little town.

chase magic - 1 dude in louisville played guilty gear… ever.
kajoq - i think your confused i dont get on ggpo, on another note. it doesnt matter what you say/think/do because im gonna come down there and take all the 1st prize for free anyways. your just donating, sorry about the truth.

edit - if no one is good and you can go match for match… i got 200 bones says you couldnt kill 1 character on my team in marvel and ill let you pick 1 of my dudes. well run it at this tourny thats obviously never gonna happen. what now…?

edit edit - i got another 200 on marius vs. kajoq in marvel. 2/3

IM NOT EVEN A MARVEL PLAYER

DJ, you’re just pure comedy.

I’m sure the rest of the Louisville crew is laughing as hard as I am.

dude look around, no one from louisville gets on here no more, this shit is a joke.

one final word ill be glad when all this blaze blue melty blood shit finally passes.

guilty is finally gone and smash is on its way out, but still, i dont like the people these games bring around, i dont like socially deprived pale skinned asthmatic nerd kids spittin while they talk all in my direction, i dont like being around someone who jacks off to a cartoon character, i dont like the lack of hygiene.

it didnt used to be like that, you used to be able to take a chick to a tourny with you. LOL good luck with that now.

then again who knows, maybe i will decide to never leave my basement again, cop some velma glasses, throw on 40 pounds, avoid the sun/sports/girls/social interaction that doesnt involve a keyboard and start playing blaze blue and ill dick ride any japanese person i see. thats what it takes right?
you all can call me xxSHIN VEGETA BROLLY 9000xx from now on.

xxShin vegeta brolly 9000xx
FUCKING GODLIKE HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Cant help but laugh at that shit.

It’s cute he wants to bring his “chick” to a tourny.

Anyways on topic about the subject at hand. The tournament won’t be huge but it’ll be the first step to a decent tournament in Kentucky. It’s not out of reach only a few hundred dollars to potentially get something decent going even if it’s a limited time. Also the main games would most likely SSFIV, HD Remix, Blazblue, and potentially MvC2 or SF3 Strike. Honestly I only know of the SFIV/HD Remix/Blazblue scene going about. It’s not to crazy but it’s worth having. Tekken 6 isn’t really something I’ve looked up or bothered to check the tournament scene out with but if the scene is there it’s worth looking into at the very least.

Running to many games for a first run is way to bothersome especially for first timers attempting it.

Yea man I mean i think it’ll take alot of work and effort to get off the ground and runnin good but I definitely don’t think it would be some crazy expensive thing we’d have pour thousand dollars into. As long as you got cool people willing to pitch in and help gather some of the equipment needed n all the only thing comes out of pocket is the money for the location and money for prizes. Then maybe lil money for some drinks n food n shit for people to grab in case its an all day type thing. And i don’t really know of any real scene going about i mean if you consider 1 town with a small group of buddies a scene then I guess but there really aint nothing big yet. It’ll be tight though man. Get to meet buncha new people who like same games as you, have a good competition, maybe get a lil attention to some real solid players if any come out. I think it’s definitely something worth getting started. I just want to go about it right and have everything planned out and ran legit so we don’t get to day of tournament and have mixed up matches and lose track of players or people cant hear you call theyr matches and then pissed cuz they got DQ’d and just stuff like that. Then we’d just look jackass’s and definitely wouldn’t be getting people to come back if we wanted to do another one sometime.

lol DJ is crazy

no one mentioned regular ST or 3rd strike!! And Kajoq you should actually play someone good in marvel from here before you make such dangerous statements.

Pro tip - bring some extra change for the bus because were gonna shake your pockets out.

Thats my point!! WHO IS GOOD AT MARVEL IN THE STATE? The answer is nobody, not me, not DJ, not you (and I don’t even know who you are). I’m sorry if that’s offensive, but lets be honest with ourselves. I’ll play you, but I know you’re not going to be a ‘good’ marvel player. I’m no good at the game but I know what good looks like. I’ve spent enough time around the ATL crew… FL Crew (Mixup and Shoult), etc etc. I doubt we have 1 marvel player that wouldn’t go 0-2 at any major marvel tourney. There may be a handful of guys that play consistently, but they’re still about 7 years behind the skill curve of current marvel players. If we ran a tourney, we’d end up with like VDO coming down from MI and double OCVing everyone through Grand Finals with Kenfinites.

Games KY has some talent in: ST, 3s to some extent, Guilty Gear, BlazBlue - I wouldnt even say we have talent in SF4 as a state.

I’d definitely be down for vanilla ST at the tourney (even moreso than HDR), but its generally a bitch to drag a cabinet around and I don’t have a supergun put together.
Tehman, you play on ps3? I’ll play you in marvel. I KNOW i’m bad, but i’ll play you. I think you’re all missing my point.

A major reason other states have way better players is because alot of states have a solid tournament scene to hone up at. That’s the kind of thing i’d like to get going.

I totally agree. This is how our GG kids got so good. We traveled around to tournaments ALOT and spent hundreds of hours playing casuals with better and better players. While every so often we could have a big tournament, it would be nice to have smaller ranbats with a small tournament fee. The smash kids have tournaments quite frequently. Finding a venue would be the biggest issues with small ranbats/tournaments.

i consider myself a good marvel player
