Ken Q&A: Ask simple questions here?

Plinking clp~clk makes lk come out. You’re chaining the jabs anyways so there is really no reason to plink the jabs in that combo. And you just have good timing on that link, if you press the lp 1 frame too early you’ll get a lk i promise.

so nt tru son, if u crouch and plink c,lp with c.lk u will get a c.lp, why do u think its so hard to throw tihns sagat? cuz he ost with a plinkd crouch tech so instead of wiffing a short he hits u wil jab jab tiger shot for ur truble, now maby with akuma or gen its difrent but with ken a plinkd crouch tech with pressing the jab 1st results in a c.lp and with ken c,mp to jab is a 1 frame link plink the jab now its a 2 frame link,its the shit we gota do when we play wak ass characters lol

No thats not what i’m talking about. If you press the the lp on the last frame of block stun then then lk will come out on the first frame. The cr.lp is coming out because you can’t kara cancel lp with lk. Lp has the weakest input priority, its the only move you can’t plink in combos because it doesn’t take priority over anything. Plinking lp and lk is only usefull for os tech because as i said before the lp won’t cancel so you get the normal you want with the benefit of the tech coming a frame later if they throw. Its not character specific is just game mechanics.

ive combod using this method tho, and u are saying block stun i am saying on hit so we are talking about two difrent things now

the method is useless to me anyway cuz ken can jus mash jab lol. but after a c.mp i will b plinking jab, and if i get a short guess what that combos too

when is it a bad time to end your combo with a hk tatsu rather than f srk? and is every other time a good time to land it? i figured a tatsu would be better than srk because i can continue attacking afterwards. or am i wrong?

if u wana b safe then srk. if u wanna guess the tatsu,tatsu duz mre damage and stun

um… hk tatsu leaves you at a frame disadvantage so even though you can continue to attack the odds are not in your favor because your putting yourself into a frame trap so to speak.

I learned a lot about Ken match-up specific OSs from the little time we actually talked

So if i happen to have thrown out a hk tatsu due to muscle memory, what can I do to keep myself safe afterward since i’m have a disadvantage? Block? ready to teach? what about backdashing? Doesn’t backdashing dodge grabs or something?

You can pretty much do anything you normally do after ex-tatsus, except for trying to go into another block string.
Grab, os tech, backdash, srk, neutral jump…

So ive played dictator pretty much exclusively since the game came out, i pretty much suck at using shotos/motion charcters and ive been messing with ken to improve my excecution. I can do the basic specials and do things like srk fadc ultra etc but ive got a question about the most effective way to point the stick during combos and blockstrings

So with dictator im so used to holding back for charge during blockstrings and bnb combos to finish with a special like scissors, so say as ken your on the player 1 side and you go for say cr.lp, st.lp, cr.mk, tatsu or srk, do you hold forward, pointing the stick toward the opponent while excecuting the combo like, down forward, towards forward, down forward then your special or would you hold back similar to if your using a charge character ? my guess is your’d hold forward as its easier to finish with a special like srk or tatsu from that position but i my be wrong ?

whats the most effective way for shotos/motion characters ?

yes either down foward or jus down, but i do down back sumtimes u can still buffer hado or srk from there, down back suks if u tryna tatsu after but ya u get the point
