This. I hear people talk of flowchart Kens all the time but I’m not really sure what it is. Is it the j.HK > cr.HK people who always shoryu on wakeup? I’d really like to know.
BTW this guy asked like 3 days ago and people act like they don’t wanna answer his question but will get pissed if he opens a new thread to try to get his question answered.
Do a google image search for Ken flowchart. Pretty much every result is what you’re looking for.
“Flowchart Ken” is, by the way, an overused term much like “scrub” and “troll” are. Once a word gets made to refer to a specific type of person, people start using it to describe lots of people who don’t really fit the definition. …But I digress.
When someone jumps in, and u as a Ken player do f.mk so that u go right under the opponent, after that is there a sure fire way to do the f.hp srk? Sometimes I connect en sometimes I get one hir or the opponent blocks my attack.
And after Ryu does the tatsu (non EX version) is there a sure fire way to do maximum damage given that the player is blocking after performing the tatsu.
the possibilities of someone waking up in your hands are almost endless. there’s so many things you can do, but the things you listed are some of them. feel the opponent out and see what works, what dosen’t work, or what you can bait (for example, if you do a block string and they mash uppercut you out of it a few times, block inbetween hits). usually the only time i’ll wakeup srk is if i have enough meter for fadc, which makes it safe. it’s hard to give out advice, because everyone treats wakeup mixups differently.
I see no one answered el_mono_16’s question on how to perform ken’s FADC>ULTRA. I’m a begining player myself and use the ps3 controller. I’ve performed it maybe 5x in training mode, but can’t figure exact timing to cancel into ULTRA. I’ve seen many video threads were after the DP+LP launches them you focus cancel into ultra, but I can’t seem to launch opponent as high on a consistent basis. Also I’ve read in another thread that they use (FA+f,f,) to cancel. I have been using (FA+f) on impact. Which is the perfered method of canceling? Can I buffer the ULTRA during the cancel?
Whats the easiest way to capitalize on opponents who sit in crouch for the majority for the match. When I couch and try to string a combo on a crouching opponent I usually get fully blocked and pushed out of hit range. Then I am punished or I block there combo string, rinse and repeat. Are there certain crossup or other techniques I can use? Overhead kicks seems to work but it leaves me open to take sweep kicks or jabs. Any tips on the subject would be much appreciated
Hi, i had a question about kara-focus. Should this move really only be used from a great distance, and only on fireball heavy charcters such as sagat and ryu? I feel like the frames on it are alot and when i do it from close up i get smacked.(becuase i dont have enough recover time)

In the middle of some special moves, you can hit focus attack to interrupt the move and go into another. The point of dashing is to get out of the attack you just told your character to do
For example, (not that this is a good use of meter), Ken can do a Fierce Shoryuken, hit Focus Attack right after and only have the first hit knock the opponent in the air. He then dashes to cancel the Focus Attack, and goes into his Ultra on his opponent in the air
got a question about a meaty attack done to ken. what do you do about it? can you mp shoryu, or do you have to ex it? Also if im using the meaty in the wrong context, i mean when someone is foward jumping with lk.
That’s pretty much the block string you wanna do… Only start with c.lk, then move to the c.lp. It’s risky to do the c.mk, hado, since some people will be mashing a shoryu and it will hit if you don’t time your block string just right. Of course, if you know someone is doing this, just stop the block string and block. Then you’ll punish their crap.
You don’t want to do much more than c.lk, c.lp to Gief… Reversal SPD hurts… I usually only do the c.lk or something, then jump away… IF THAT!
When you know your opponent isn’t gonna be mashing out uppercuts, then feel free to end the block string and go for a cross up, use back+mk overhead, kara throw, or whatever.
I think Ken’s j.lk stuffs shoryus… Of course, if its in front of you, you can always EX shoryu to tear them out of the sky. Being on the defensive is one of my main weak points, so I’m probably not at liberty to give you info on this. Just be careful about throwing out wake up shoryus. Sometimes, its ok to just block.
Hi everyone, I main Chun and kinda just feel like I’ve hit my peak with her, as there’s really nothing new for me to learn (Been playing her exclusively since the game came out)
Anyway, I want to pick up Ken … And have questions that might have been previously covered here in entirety.
In training mode I noticed Ken’s MP Shoryu does more damage than his Fierce. Why do so many Kens use his Fierce one? (And I don’t mean flowchart Kens, I’ve played really good Kens who knew what they were doing but often used his Fierce as opposed to his MP) Why would you use Fierce DP over MP DP?
F+MK, C.MK … I’ve seen a bunch of people mention this as a combo on here but if I’m not mistaken according to the frame data this shouldn’t be possible … Or am I just reading it wrong?
Lastly … Wtf is EX Kara Tatsu? How is executed? And how exactly does it differ from doing a regular EX Tatsu.
Again I’m sure these have been answered before but … I figured no one would mind if I just asked here instead of making a new thread. Thanks.
