Ken Combo/Tech Thread

ryu has higher damage overall. i consider burst damage as how much damage you get off stray hits. not fully loaded vs fully loaded. getting one knock down with the potential to end the game is always a plus. guess its a matter of taste cuz i find chun boring as hell.

What is the highest damage output that you guys get from V-Trigger with no meter? I usually get 310 from his target combo 1 (minus the jump in). 321 from st HK with no meter.

  • How spacing-dependent are the followups? I noticed you were doing the cr.MP to start the sequence fairly deep.

  • When do you intend to use this? Only when you see the opponent back-rising a lot?

why not just use back rise set ups off of an actual bnb?

I think itā€™s hilarious that QCB+HK does more than DP+HP and Ken gets an easy meaty after QCB+HK with dash, c MP, b+MP etc. and his grab loops are easier now by a s LK whiff in-between each grab.

After crush counter s HK, v skill, QCB+MK, DP+HP no longer hits.

In regards to the 4th combo video, itā€™s strictly height restrected. The super can easily be too low to hit. Best used with the DP shortcut df,d,df+HP from crouching.

Notice how if only 1 hit of the QCB+LK hits Ken canā€™t combo anything, not even EX DP. Still, meterless crossup QCB+HK is extremely useful and Kenā€™s version is the best shoto version!

After the HP DP you can dash, dash, meaty c MP, b+MP! By the way, after c MP, b+MP gets blocked, Iā€™ve been doing c MK, QCF+HP. You might say, ā€œbut the b+MP is negative and c MK is kinda slow.ā€ In general jabs and other lights are short range attacks so they wonā€™t even reach Ken. c MK is a low, too, planting the seed for a f+HK or b+MK overhead. The QCF+HP often hits after the c MK is blocked as well, although I doubt c MK, QCF+HP is a blockstring of course so be careful.

Yeah, I think for most characters, it isnā€™t worth comboing into super when you are in VT (unless itā€™s for the kill). Pretty funny that you get all of 1 more damage with Ken though.

Against a Jab Blanka Ball:
(whiff punish) Low Strong xx V-Skill, Cr.Jab (meaty; +4 on block/+6 on hit)

I didnā€™t know about this. Was always just going straight into TC1 after landing a j.HP.
