ps2 is totally worth it, just for the modding or swapmagic. my ps2 is dead as well, i also need o buy new one. got way over 100 quality games on it, best of all they were all FREE.
p.s. your lack of snk collections is worrying. if you liked the arcades and shooters, the ps2 also has the best collection of shoot em ups like mushihime same, esgaluda, dodonpachi etc? also since nobody is making money of ps2 games, feel free to dl all the titles you want. there are fucking retards out there buying and selling games like suikoden 2 for 250+, you could just dl and burn.
p.s.s. ps2 is still the greatest console of all time, snes probably secong, or psx…
I’d suggest getting rid of it all. If you are not playing it you’re wasting space. I got rid of all my old stuff a year ago and all of my 360 stuff month ago and all is well. The only time I miss it is when I see someone’s collection but then I remind myself that I never played any of those game anyway.
I sold my PS2, kept all the games and just play them on my PC with PCSX2.
LOL!!! That’s the funniest shit I’ve heard today! I meant to say 480p
Love SNK! oddly enough all my SNK games are on Wii. The SNK arcade collection runs best on the Wii and they have the most SNK games to download from Virtual Console. I may have to look into a modded PS2. I’m a total Shmup fan and would love some old school cave titles. Thanks for the heads up.
Your right, a collection will only take up space but I’m too nostalgic when it comes to games. I love all games new and old. I started playing the arcade version of shinobi the other day on an arcade stick and had a blast! That game came out in what?.. 1987? You never know what kind of game you will feel like playing and that is an advantage of having a game library.
You kept the games so, you don’t lose the opportunity to play them. I didn’t know you could play them on a PC. I bet they look great!

OP, i will recomend you to open your ps3 and give it some maintenance, clean it from dust and change the thermal paste from the cpu and gpu, the one that comes with the ps3 is not really good, buy some good compound and apply it to your ps3.
I do it yearly and my ps3 is keeping up in good shape thanks to that
Thanks for the tip! When you first cleaned your PS3 and changed the thermal paste, how did you know you were doing it correctly? I’m not sure I could take that on but a know someone who could do it for me for a few dollars. I will most certainly look into it.
Hmmm. Are you sure your not getting your PCB’s confused? I think the Toodles branded PCB’s can force VSHG mode but I am not aware that was a feature on the PS360+. I will have to look into that. Thanks!

I have a modded PS2 w/HDD & PS3 BC…I really didn’t care for the PS2 to be honest. I think the only game i remember that was memorable to me was Gladius & Romance of the Three Kingdom series. Sports games were good too as well as the Guncon games. Unless you really want to play those games, i would just store the game somewhere until the value goes up for them. I wouldn’t buy a new console.
The Christmas thread has a collection of games in one post behind the guy’s new stuff this year
This guy’s MVC2 art/label is beat up
His CVS2 is a no label! <-- Totally need to just print your own from the Japans art with that Chun-li thigh and calf muscle definition and the flames, and Maki/Haohmaru face/et mucho mas.

I used to sell systems in order to buy new systems and I regret that old habit every day.
I haven’t touched a GCN game in years and I won’t sell any of them, because I know some day I’ll get the itch to play Killer7, Metroid Prime, Paper Mario, or Metal Arms in the next couple of years.
Also, since you legally own those games, you can emulate them. You don’t even need to download the games, you can pop them into your computer and PS2 emulators can read it from there. PS2 emulation is pretty good, though some games need some setting tweaked.
Just buy a PS2, They’re not that expensive and they’re still a great system.
Get the os2. I still play mine frequently.
I just tried using psx2 with my silent hill 2 disc but its choppy, but I’m going to assume that its just my garbage laptop. It would be cool if I could just take my ps2 games with me to college but I can’t since my laptop really sucks ass at playing them.
I just figured out how to get my PS2 games to work with my arcade sticks on a BC PS3! Thanks to this thread:
So, I guess I will not be buying a PS2 just yet. I should probably still get my PS3 cleaned and have new thermal paste re-applied though…
