I saw a programme about transgender people on TV. If I remember correctly, the brains of men who want to be women are wired like womens’ brains. So, one could say that they really are people trapped in the wrong sort of body.
As for whether it’s sick or disgusting or whatever, I think people who have those views are worryingly entirely too much about it. I mean, for fuck’s sake, even Iran allows for sex-change operations after an ayatollah allowed it, IIRC. (Homosexuality is still illegal there.)
i dunno why anyone would be outraged that she kept it a secret tho. out of all my friends im the only vocal one about transgendered issues. i dont blame people for wanting to be stealth.
what id like for people to realize is that the vast majority of trans people are not trying to decieve everyone. all they want is to be able to live as the gender they feel they are and recieve the same common decency that anyone else would get.
and especially in the competitive gaming scene, i dont blame her. it has always been notoriously a boys club and a revelation like this risks her being ostracized from both sexes.

Japan is way more accepting of different lifestyle choices than Texas. Kayo’s life would not have been in danger had she been truthful about being who she is. In fact it’s probably more in danger now, since some unstable guys who may have felt attracted to her may now feel deceived and become irrationally angry. You know how some idiots get when their “manhood” is brought into question.
Well trans people aren’t charlatans, and Kayo is brave for coming out because for most transpeeps, if they can pass as their preferred gender they will keep their biological gender to themselves. Really, it’s only the concern of those she has relationships with.
I guess her revealling her true nature was to avoid future conflicts as she grows more popular. I imagine their would have been many issues had she continued to play in female tournies and was found out a year or two in the future.
