Oh fuck. Rin’s route, Jesus Christ. I don’t know how to react to that. That shit hit right at home for some reason. As far as writing goes, this route is by far the best IMO. I felt Hisao’s frustration. Shit was deep. 
No Miki route is bullshit.
His frustration was understandable but to say he didn’t compound it a few times onto himself would be wrong. Still one of the better routes. Also if you got through that without save states your better than me. Only route I couldn’t get the good end on my first playthrough, choices kinda all lead to really awkward conclusions you wouldn’t expect so that really helps the out of control feeling the whole arc gives imo.
If you’re not using save states in VNs… or Fire Emblem, you’re doing it wrong.

Wonder how the story shapes up compared to the anime. Figured the anime was kurisu’s story with a bit of drama from the others thrown in to flesh everything out, but if it’s like F/SN and the anime was just the Fate story that could be exciting.
You really need to try Clannad. All the things you like about this game are at least 2x as good in Clannad. Way more choices to. For Fate, Heaven’s Feel route was amazing. If I had to just choose one path from any VN that’s the one. It’s like starwars, you got evil eating from within, redemption, and a bad ending that is just terrible to read through if you land it.
I wish they would finish the fate zero English patch, would love to see what they do with the prequel.
Yeah I wasn’t able to get through this route without getting a bad end, it wasn’t until the end of act 3 I believe.
Long life story about why I related with Hisao, and felt like there was a void in my chest after Rin’s route, also Rin route spoilers?

After I went to bed I went to think about why that shit hit me so hard. A lot of the frustration that Hisao felt, was shit that I went through with an ex of mine. The feeling of having someone you like in front of you and not being able to do shit about it, and not being able to connect was something that I knew all too well. See, this ex was adopted and she had a lot of fucking emotional baggage with her, shit she couldn’t do anything about even if she wanted. Her birth certificate had no one as a father, the woman that took care of her after her biological mom did God knows what passed away from cancer… so despite making attempts to contact her, the woman’s kids didn’t really know anything since she was only with them until she was 6 months old. The orphanage didn’t really want to do shit for her either. She was also Hispanic but was raised by Jewish parents, who told her she was adopted from a young age. She was fine most of the time apparently, then when she dated me it all kinda hit her harder than normal. I’m Hispanic and live with both my biological parents, and when she would go into her identity crisis moments, that was bad. She didn’t really speak Spanish and the little that she did she learned from Spanish class, so whenever I would speak to my parents in Spanish this would frustrate her. Having her over and doing family stuff and eating our normal food also got to her (despite her really liking my mom’s cooking o_O) . Then it would all turn into one big mess where she would cry for hours, her with her self-pity (understandable I guess, she saw me have everything she would’ve had if she wasn’t adopted), me trying to making her feel better to no avail, all while feeling somewhat responsible that she was the way she was. Many times it would end up with me punching the wall over and over, out of frustration. So when I saw Hisao frustrated and slam his head against the wall (which I am pretty sure I did as well…), I didn’t connect the dots right away as I had tried damn hard to forget about all those nights where it was talking and consoling her for hours and hours to no avail. You know what? Fuck this game, this shit happened like 6 years ago too. What a bunch of assholes for reminding me of that shit. [/details]

I should. I’ve tried to avoid Clannad the anime like the plague but everyone praising it is starting to make me buckle. Just the character designs are really off putting to me, weird ass eyes.
I liked Heaven’s Feel mainly because it was completely different to the other two. I don’t think I got the bad ending ever, might have to go through and replay it. Man … replaying Fate though feels like a chore to me … so many lulls.
Unlimited blade works just had a lot of characterization so the lulls weren’t so bad, and Archer being Emiya was a really cool concept.

lol know how you feel man. Had a girlfriend that was like an odd cross between Hanako and Rin. Imagine Rin but her idea of sex was like Hanako’s, but she only did that when it was just the two of us. She was really outgoing and popular around others (one of the reasons I was attracted to her), but when you got her alone she just broke down.
Honestly that’s the reason I think I like Lilly, Hanako, and Rin a lot. I’ve dated girls that all of notable elements of their personalities that bring back nostalgic memories.
You know, I’m kinda sad there isn’t a Misha route.

They aren’t joking. Shizune’s is by far the worst.
Misha doesn’t really meet the criteria for this game to be an interest since she doesn’t have a disability other than a bad haircut. However, it would have been cooler to have her as a person than Shizune.
I’ve been wondering what Misha’s disablity was, but i guess she doesn’t really have one lol

Also, a friend told me Misha had diabetes, so that may be the disability.
I want a patch where I can go for Misha without getting a bad end.

Misha doesn’t seem to have a disability. The school accepts people with no disabilities. And if she was diabetic, she would probably be dead, seeing as she stuffs herself with sweets as often as possible. If anything she’s gained weight from the last year, due to events explained in Shizune’s route. Misha is there as a special interest student because she wants to become a sign language teacher.
Shizune’s route is by far the worst sadly, I still need to do Kenji’s “route”. Shame too because they could have done a lot of interesting stuff with Shizune’s route, but didn’t.

Shizune’s was my first route but I enjoyed all the characters that weren’t Shizune. Like Akira, Misha, and the others. Things is all those characters have pretty big parts in the other story lines plus their involvement is much more pronounced and interesting. Seriously, the whole game is good so I’m not saying Shizune’s is bad but the others are just much better.
Oh yeah, Lilly’s route should be the last one you do. No exceptions.

Shizune route had a lot going for it, but didn’t really do anything exciting with it. Hisao didn’t really seem that attracted to Shizune, even in the later acts (when compared to the other 4 girls). He also has strong feelings for Misha (enough to want to act on them) but this doesn’t really lead anywhere (other than the bad end). Misha’s feelings in general were ignored, and she just admits defeat right away despite having strong feelings for both Hisao and Shizune (I mean seriously, she decides to end her lesbian streak and give Hisao her virginity, yet this is not important?), so her angle on the whole thing was pretty much irrelevant (again, despite Hisao not really being sure if he liked Shizune and/or Misha for a good chunk of the whole thing). Not really speaking up against Shizune’s dad was weak as hell, though understandable (afraid of dying). The guy basically called his own daughter abnormal and that she needed fixing and Hisao stays shut, big ass “wat” right there (Fuck you Hisao, you will have a heart attack for your gf’s honor and you will like it!). The whole route felt like the “natural progression” route and an extension of act 1 (where a lot of different characters get exposure), not exciting but the outcome of being easily predictable to do stuff because you are the new guy and kinda just want to take everything in as you get adjusted. It’s not a bad route by any means, just not on par with the rest. Reminds me of the Fate scenario from F/SN in terms of progression to be honest.

Shizune (Natural progression route/They-just-drag-me-everywhere-because-I’m-new-route route)
Emi (Hard work and helping a fellow Knight route)
Hanako (White Knight and Mother Hen route)
Lilly (This IMO, is the “True End” get the girl, win at life route)
Rin* (Planet Rin, be on the lookout for meteor showers and the possibility of the whole thing going super nova)
With Rin route not really having a specific spot. This route confuses me to no end and I don’t know if I love it more than Lilly’s route because it’s the writing was so good or because it hit me like a god damned truck. Maybe it’s a combination of both, but Rin route is definitely going for something else entirely so it’s pretty hard to compare to the other routes. It’s hard to get a good placement on this one. Going to have to replay it at least once more, maybe even twice.[/details]
I remember during the Lilly arc Hiaso brought up that the school does accept healthy students. It just doesn’t accept students with mental disabilities. Misha must fall in line with that. Still, it’s a damn crime she doesn’t have a route.
