I played against a Mika who insisted on using her mic so I qcb+P ALL DAY.
It was a free win, but man Karin’s buttons are goooooooooooooooooood. I’m still not sure how to use her Rekkas though, her V-Trigger is mostly a Roman Cancel for me ATM.
Oh so you’re trying to do c.MK command dash into launch punch? If so, I’m not sure why you’re having trouble with that. I get it pretty clean on c.MK. Just sometimes I’m off timing for the just frame version.
I’m just talking from the example of an opponent I’m not trying to troll here.
Here’s something else. Her c. mk get’s murdered by both s. mk and f+mk with mika. I’ve been doing counterhit f+mk. s. lp combos on her pretty consistently when people abuse that. Mika’s s. lp also wrecks everything Karin does at max spacing. I could imagine that being annoying later on for Karin players. It’s not like Mika can just blindly do that, it’s not some unbeatable trick, but it is good.
Just sharing info cuz you guys are trying to learn matchups just like I am. I imagine the Karin vs Mika matchup is going to have to be careful about Mika’s s. lp though from what I’ve seen
I’m trying to decide between maining Chun Li and subbing Karin, or just maining both. They both have a bit of exactly what I want in a character for this game. Chun got the shit ton of normals and swag V Trigger juggles, and Karin got the execution and cancel stuff.
Karin is extremely strong from what I’ve seen so far.
You know how you can tell when people are experienced and when they aren’t? I’ve lost to a few karin players that were frankly scrubbing it out.
Her s. mk isn’t as good as I thought it was, but her c. mk is vile. Also her overhead special is extremely fast and it hits on the way up, then you’re waiting for the followup and it’s not like they have to actually DO the followup. It’s not like chun’s hcb+k in sf4 where you see it and just block high.
You should play her and maybe you can correct me on some stuff. But she’s strong.
I’ve been doing this by “plinking” qcf-LK~LP. They’re almost at the same time. Works consistently, even in laggy matches.
It doesn’t HAVE to be LK to LP, I’ve tested on other versions and there seems to be no discernible difference, I just find it easier to move my hand to the left to hit the buttons quick.
Her best AA is just frame launcher. Make Karin say HIYA. Shit definitely comes out faster than either of her normal AAs. Did the best job dealing with Vega’s j.HP in training mode.
i feel once people find some nice set ups to get a cr.mp she’s going to become very dangerous. She gets like 494 off of cr.mp st.mp vtigger st.hp (forgot the name of dash punch) into super or up kicks into super.
I tried playing a few games with Karin against people. Scrub it out. Use her overhead special repeatedly then when you get the life lead practice playing properly. =P
I’m probably gonna play Chun as a main and Karin as a secondary. From the Beta experience I feel like I can play much better neutral with Chun so far, which my strong point and her v-trigger is more interesting imo.
-It seems that cr. jab is the catch all counter to Rainbow palm on block. Not too happy about that. On hit you have a better chance to go for the reset grab, but that’s only like 50 damage more if your opponent is sleeping (honestly they might as well just mash cr. jab there too since other options are pretty much guaranteed).
